Chapter 31
As Alex saw the group of security guards, he felt a sense of déjà vu. He waited for them to approach with a bored expression.
"Excuse me, Mrs. Pearl, is there something I can help you with?" Alex asked casually.
"Yes, old monkey, get your men to drive him away before he wreaks havoc on our premises! Don't be fooled by his casual and plain clothes, he's a gangster in disguise!" Mrs. Pearl exclaimed angrily.
The people around them began to look at Alex unkindly and started sneering at him in whispers. Alex remained calm and continued to wait for their response.
After Mrs. Pearl finished her complaints, the security group nodded as if they understood.
"Understood, ma'am, I'll escort him out!" said the security guard firmly.
Then the security guard nodded at Pearl and continued walking towards Alex. Alex, who saw this, was unimpressed and said, "Alright, no need to talk too much, I can go by myself."
With that, Alex took the initiative to leave. However, to his surprise, one of the security guards pushed him hard. Alex felt the force but managed to regain his balance. Everyone who witnessed this looked down, avoiding eye contact.
"Didn't you say you wanted to walk alone?" asked one of the security guards arrogantly.
Alex turned towards the figure that was pushing and taunting him. He could see a burly man in a black uniform with a young face.
As everyone's eyes met, Alex couldn't help but sneer. "Hahahaha looks like I need your help to get out. My legs really can't move because of the cramps," said Alex in a playful tone.
The group of people around sneered again, except for the security guard who was called an old monkey before, who frowned in disbelief. He then rushed towards Alex with a friendly tone. "This gentleman, I'm sorry, but the master wants you to leave this place to avoid further trouble."
Alex wanted to respond, but before he could, an arrogant shout interrupted him. "Hey old monkey, why are you talking to this guy? This kind of person does not deserve to be treated as a human! Drag him out and teach him a lesson!"
The old monkey, who heard this, couldn't help but glare at the young security guard in disagreement.
Despite the old monkey's attempts to mediate, the young security guard remained completely indifferent to the situation. Alex, observing this, simply smiled and scoffed. "Hehehe, unfortunately, he's right. I don't need to be treated like a human, because I am a beast, a huge monster beast!"
The old monkey was getting more entangled, trying to reason with Alex, but Alex remained nonchalant, not budging an inch from where he was standing. Meanwhile, the young security guard grew increasingly disgusted with Alex's behavior, harboring the desire to punch him in the face.
He then spoke arrogantly, "If it weren't for this public place, I would have smashed your face!"
Alex, who heard this, remained unfazed as if he hadn't heard anything at all. Irritated, the young security guard instructed his friends to drag Alex out.
The people around shook their heads in disapproval, finding Alex's behavior arrogant and disdainful. At first, the young security guard's face displayed mockery, but his expression turned into bewilderment after pushing Alex's body with all his strength.
No matter how hard they tried, Alex didn't budge an inch. Even with the combined effort of three people pushing his hand in hand, Alex remained steadfast and unmoved.
Everyone who witnessed this scene was shocked. They wondered if the auto shop was putting on some kind of show.
Meanwhile, the old monkey looked at Alex in disbelief, scanning him from top to bottom. His eyes narrowed when he noticed the dog tattoo on Alex's left hand. Instantly, fear gripped him, and he started trembling, breaking out in a cold sweat.
Pearl, who was initially smug and proud, became stunned and furious. "Hey, what's going on? Get rid of him quickly!" she demanded.
The young security guard was torn between his orders and confusion. Meanwhile, the old monkey approached Alex with a shaking body. He spoke in a hushed voice, "M-master, my apologies in advance. I have acted blindly and offended you. I hope you won't cause any trouble; otherwise, someone might call the police." His voice was almost a whisper.
Luckily, Alex had enhanced senses; otherwise, he might not have heard the old monkey's words. He found the other party's reaction rather strange. The old monkey appeared to be strong, but why was he so afraid? Alex wondered if there was a reason behind it.
When Alex asked if he was being threatened, the old monkey gasped and quickly corrected himself, denying any intention of threatening Alex. He simply didn't want Alex to attract the attention of the police.
Alex nodded in response. He didn't want to get involved in anything too troublesome, but circumstances seemed to constantly force him into such situations. Realizing that staying in this place would not be profitable for him, Alex casually replied, "Okay."
The old monkey let out a sigh of relief and quickly gestured to his friends to back off. Alex was left alone, standing tall and unyielding. The atmosphere around him seemed to change as people hesitated to approach him.
Pearl, who had been furious, saw the old monkey's reaction and felt a chill run down her spine. She realized that Alex might not be as simple as she initially thought. Nevertheless, she tried to regain her composure and put on a brave face.
"Well, if you're done showing off, get lost! We don't need any troublemakers here," Pearl snapped, trying to salvage some semblance of authority.
Alex looked at her with a playful smile. He could feel the fear emanating from her, and he decided to play along for a little while longer. "Oh, don't worry. I was just leaving anyway. Your place isn't that interesting," he said nonchalantly.
After that, Alex casually walked towards the exit. But only halfway to the door of the shop, Alex suddenly turned around and stared at the young security guard.
"If it weren't for this public place, I would have smashed your face," said Alex flatly, devoid of emotion.
Despite the seemingly plain words, the young security guard felt an intense pressure in his chest as if a boulder had crushed him. His confusion grew, and he couldn't explain why he felt such unease.
Alex then turned back around and continued on his way. Only then did the young security guard's previously tense expression ease. However, even though he looked relieved, his body was covered in sweat, and his face had turned as pale as paper as if he was in severe pain.
The people around were amazed by what they witnessed. They had expected a confrontation, but instead, something strange and inexplicable had taken place right before their eyes.
The group couldn't help but wonder, "What did we just witness?"
The old monkey, who saw Alex's back as he walked away, also felt weakened and fell to the ground as if drained of all energy.
"What was that terrifying being just now?" the horrified monkey asked.
Then the old monkey recalled Alex's earlier words, "Hehehe, unfortunately, he's right. I don't need to be treated like a human, because I am a beast, a huge monster beast." The monkey repeated Alex's words in a frightened tone.
…
Alex continued walking until he found another car dealership. He looked at the shop with a hint of helplessness, still feeling a bit wary after the previous encounter.
Nevertheless, he entered the auto shop. Inside, he noticed that the cars on display were quite similar to the ones in the previous shop. After a while, a woman approached him to offer assistance.
"Hello, sir. Can I help you with anything?" she asked.
"Yes, I'm looking for a van or a mini-truck," Alex replied.
"Of course, we have several cars that fit that description. Allow me to show you the options," the woman said, obliging to assist Alex in his search. She guided him through the available cars that met his requirements.
Alex felt naturally satisfied. The car options in this shop seemed to be more diverse than the previous one. He was ready to make the payment when his attention was drawn to a van with impressive specifications.
However, his gaze suddenly shifted as he noticed something in the distance. The woman at the shop noticed Alex's change in behavior and asked curiously, "Is something wrong, sir?"
Alex quickly replied, "Oh, no, it's just that I spotted an interesting car over there."
Following Alex's gaze, the woman nodded and said, "Ah, you mean the black car at the end? It does look cool from afar, but it's been sitting here for several months without anyone showing interest in it."
"Why is that?" asked Alex, feeling puzzled as he had thought the car looked very nice from the outside.
"Besides the high price," explained the woman, "the appearance of this car is too eccentric due to the modifications it has undergone, making it consume more fuel. Additionally, some people find it difficult to drive because it's a bit larger and has been extended a few centimeters."
Alex nodded in understanding. He realized that nothing in this world is perfect, and as humans, they must choose which flaws they can tolerate.
The woman's honesty and straightforwardness during their conversation impressed Alex, and he started to consider buying the car.
Curious about the advantages of the car, Alex asked the woman to tell him more about it.
"This car was originally used for off-road purposes. Despite the modifications, it still maintains its off-road capabilities. The pickup truck design with additional inches at the tailgate provides extra cargo space," she explained.
As Alex and the woman continued talking, they drew closer to the car. Alex admired its military-like exterior, matte black color, and sturdy tires, which added to the car's appeal.
With each passing moment, Alex's interest in the car grew stronger. He eventually asked, "How much does this car cost?"
The woman hesitated for a moment before replying, "This car costs 90,000 dollars, but if—"
Without any hesitation, Alex interrupted, "Okay, I want it."
The woman was left momentarily speechless by his swift decision.
