Chapter 28 - TWENTY-EIGHT

Hassan could feel his energy waning, but the thought of giving up never crossed his mind. With a final surge of determination, he channeled all his remaining strength into one mighty strike, a sweeping arc that cut down a swath of creatures.

With a burst of speed, he darted through their ranks, striking down creatures left and right. One by one, the creatures fell, until only a few remained.

Panting heavily and with his sword arm trembling, the swordsman faced the few that remained.

These creatures were a lot easier to kill (when compared to the hunters and the cave pavers ) but their sheer numbers presented a huge advantage on their end.

With the last shroud of strength he could muster he lunged towards the remaining monsters slicing through their necks with his ice gladius.

Somehow at that last strike, he was at his fastest speed and each strike was the strongest that his ice gladius had ever done. It was as if he gave his all to the last fight that he could muster.

In a matter of moments that felt like an eternity Hassan and the three unusual creatures had defeated the countless creatures.

It was a relieving sight to behold but that wasn't enough conviction to Sky who had been watching the whole battle unfold from the furry arms of Snowstorm.

She had since gotten across the fact that Snowstorm was controlled by me and clung to the creature like she had a feeling the battle hadn't ended.

Hassan stood amidst the corpses of fallen creatures, his chest heaving, his cloth torn and tattered. He had managed to prevail against the seemingly endless horde of creatures.

The center of the cave which was once filled with creatures moving in orderly queues as they carried out their various activities was filled with a deafening silence and the corpses of the creatures.

As exhausted as Hassan was he stood waiting, with the dark flames flowing from his body making him look like a demon from the darkest pits.

The unusual creatures hovered toward him and surrounded him without attacking him.

'Strange.' I thought

Hassan also didn't seem to mind that these creatures were behind him.

The ground trembled as the corpses of fallen creatures stirred to life. Motionless bodies reanimated, eyes flicker with malevolent light, and bones creaked.

At the same time, Hassan stood, in the same stance since he defeated the creatures and was mumbling some words under his breath.

Something was going on with the corpses that were just slain and we weren't going to wait around to see. I moved toward Hassan to grab him and rushed toward the nearest room we could find.

I did not know why the dead creatures of the Blizzardkin clan were being reawakened but I was well aware that Hassan had long surpassed his limit.

Holding Sky and my unconscious body in one limb I reached for Hassan with the other limb and carried him up from the ground.

The three creatures immediately followed suit as I made my way toward the storage room that I had marked.
