One by one, the corpses of the creatures began to rise, their lifeless forms reanimated by some unknown means. Commoners and leaders of the Blizzardkin clan lurched forward, their eyes glowing with dark essence.
'What is the cause of this?' I wondered as I moved quickly through the air with the three unusual creatures inches behind me and Hassan lying limply on my forearm still mumbling some words.
"Hey," Sky said to Hassan "Are you alright?"
She waited for a response but none came. Hassan still kept mumbling some words like someone trapped in a spell of hypnotism.
I also wondered how we would be able to complete Hassan's quest if the creatures rose after being killed, and most importantly how this hadn't been happening to the creatures that were killed before by Hassan, Andy, and Snowstorm.
'The moment you think you're gaining a slight understanding of what is happening you find out you're not. ' I thought as a heavy feeling of bewilderment gnawed on my mind
'Finally, ' I thought when we were inside the storage room that we had initially found ourselves in.
The three unusual creatures were still with us, hovering close to Hassan whom I had placed carefully on the wooden cart. Still covered by the dark flames he looked like he was being consumed by it.
The dark flames didn't burn anyone who touched him; it looked like an overflowing outburst of his energy.
Hassan lay flat with his eyebrows squinted as a sign of total exhaustion. Once again he surpassed my expectations of him.
As I watched in awe of him I noticed that he had stopped mumbling those words.
Sky made sure to put a distance between everyone else and herself. Who knew if Hassan's sanity was still intact since he was acting so strange(stranger than usual)?
The room was quiet as everyone watched Hassan. There was nothing to say because we knew we had to save our strengths. After all, the battle was not over.
It was time for the second phase of the plan. They were going to stay in the storage room while I went to the heart of the cave in search of the King of the Blizzardkin clan.
I underestimated the first phase thinking it would be just a simple trek down a straight path but it was eons far from that. If It took Hassan's sanity and three unusual creatures for us to survive the first phase how then would the second phase be?
I didn't have to protect Sky or my body but who said Snowstorm could survive the heat at the heart of the cave?
Before I could leave and move on to the next phase I wondered about the unusual creatures. They didn't exhibit any hostility toward us and seemed to be interested in Hassan.
When I tried to move them away from hovering around the wooden cart that Hassan lay in they just simply ignored me and moved back to their positions.
From the looks of it, they were like soldiers guarding him from harm.
I couldn't bring Snowstorm to attack them since they saved us from the hordes of creatures that had attacked us.
If things went wrong with the unusual creatures Sky and Hassan could easily handle it themselves. I doubted that because I didn't sense even an ounce of hostility in them.
Hovering near the door Snowstorm placed its ears on it to listen to the sounds outside. No sound could be heard; the sounds from the reawakening corpses were all gone leaving an eerie silence. Even the growls that filled the place were gone.
What was it that awaited us outside the storage room? Was an army of unkillable creatures quietly waiting for the door to open before they charge at us with a new set of attacks?
I recalled Hassan's heroic fight with the hundreds of creatures. The scenario that replayed in my memory sent jolts of sparks into my mind, igniting a sense of courage.
Hassan had done his best and it was marvelous. Then it was my turn ...
Moving out of the room I was determined to face anything; living and undead creatures but I was met with nothing. The reawakening corpses had disappeared.
Their disappearance only made me wonder if they had somehow caught up to our plans and went to protect the king but I still advanced.
When I moved to the space that led to our escape path there was no other creature in sight. As Snowstorm hovered in front of the escape path I yearned for when we all could finally get out of the hell we were in.
Moving into one of the paths I entered a maze of cave paths, built differently from the other cave parts being resided by the creatures.
There was no way Hassan could've done it himself. Even though he had a propensity toward making impossible things possible he'd probably die of exhaustion trying to fight off the creatures and trying to find his way through the cave paths.
