'Invading another being's mind involves the use of mental abilities to breach the mental defenses of the victim.
The invader would need to establish a psychic connection with the victim's mind, which involves focusing their mental energy on the victim creating a bridge between their consciousnesses.
All of the beings in existence naturally have protective barriers to prevent external intrusion. The invader needs to use their psychic abilities to weaken or bypass these barriers, which might involve using telepathic force or finding vulnerabilities in the victim's mental defenses.
Once the barriers are breached, the invader's consciousness would suppress the victim's mind. They would gain access to the victim's thoughts, memories, and emotions( similar to exploring the rooms of a vast mental mansion.) The ease of access to the victim's information depended on the mental and magical strength of the invader compared to that of the victim.
The invader would put the victim's consciousness under, totally subduing them and putting them in a sleep-like state while their bodies remained under the control of the invader.
The invader's purpose could vary. They might be seeking specific information, exploring memories, or attempting to influence the victim's actions.
Once the invader has accomplished their goal and leaves the mind of the victim the victim's consciousness will take a while to reawaken. The time taken by the victim's consciousness to reawaken depends on the invader's skills '
This information wasn't strange to me. It ran through my mind as it had been in my long-term memory but I didn't have too much time to ponder about it because from deep within the king's mind I could sense an awakening force; it was a feeling that I had never experienced with the creatures whose minds I had invaded.
I had breached the king's mental barriers but couldn't reach out to any of the information its mind carried. It was as though I was still locked out even when I had gained access to its mind.
Deep within the pits of the King's psyche, a spark of resistance was slowly rising. As I explored the king's mind represented by a long corridor with locked doors on the sides I sensed an instinctive purge of protective energy.
It was so much simpler than the other creatures. There were no corridors or doors and I didn't have a form as my mind replaced theirs. When I invaded their minds I just started to see the world from their perspective like their bodies were mine to begin with.
Although gaining information from them was slow, random, and sometimes misinterpreted.
But in the king's mind, I had a form; it was a pair of floating eyes moving through the endless corridor that represented the king's mind.
As I floated through the corridors I felt an abrupt shift. There was a chilling voice, low and terrifying that resonated within my mind and whispered a warning
"Leave"
The King's subconscious was fighting back like it did when I first attempted the mind transfer. It was supposed to be subdued but its mental strength was higher than the other creatures... It almost seemed as though the other creatures had no mental strength with the way it was easy to invade their minds. Or maybe the King was just too strong mentally?
I started to feel the king's resistance and this time it came as visible manifestations in the corridor.
Barriers appeared covering the doors that were already inaccessible to me because I was a floating eyeball with no way to use a door handle. The barrier went ahead and behind till my eyes could no longer see the two ends and almost immediately the corridor which was once lit by an unknown light source was pitch black.
As the king's subconscious fought to regain control, my grip on the mental landscape weakened.
Like a receding tide, my influence ebbed away, and I felt myself being pulled out of its consciousness.
Panic gnawed at the edges of my thoughts as I looked around in an attempt to search for any source of light.
It was a battle of wills, an unseen struggle in a realm that transcended the physical and I wasn't going to lose even though the king was a formidable foe.
I had to push my fears back to the corner of my mind if I was going to subdue the King.
With my instinct to survive, I fuelled my determination and all the 'what if ' thoughts that had made me doubt my mental capacity was nowhere near the surface of my mind. With the distractions echoing in my mind gone I concentrated on a spot.
There was no information resounding in my mind on how to fight off a victim's mental resilience but there was a feeling of anger that started to echo in my mind. Anger stemming from my instinct to survive made me surge with a sudden energy that exploded from the floating eyes and then...
I was back in the vast darkness and as usual, as soon as I was in the serene empty realm I was back in my consciousness.
'What happened?' I wondered as I opened my eyes to see the storage room in the same way it was when I left it minutes ago, except that Hassan wasn't behaving like a drunk person.
A notification popped up in the air: [Attempt at mind control failed]
"Hey there," Sky said to me when she noticed I was conscious and back in my body. she had a look of worry written all over her face and a question hung on the tip of her lips.
"It didn't work out," I said with a solemn tone hoping they weren't going to ask me what had happened because I didn't fully comprehend what went on in the king's mind. "I'll have to try..."
I was cut short when another notification popped up in front of me.
"What the... How is this even possible?" I screamed sitting up straight on the wooden cart that Snowstorm had placed me in, after clearing out the crystals that were in it.
