Being able to somehow make Andy unconscious with its body fully able to work normally didn't make me share its pain literally.
It just came as information but was a lot faster and more organized than information about Andy's past.
Being unable to feel its pain didn't mean it was such a pleasant thing to witness or interpret and it also meant I could push it beyond its limit, even to its breaking point which it looked like it was going to reach soon.
'Sorry Andy ' I thought as I made the creature dash towards the crazed hunter who was again rushing towards Sky like a lion chasing after a rabbit.
Slamming into the creature didn't send it flying. It was as if the hunter had noticed the annoying ex-cave paver trying with all its might to get its attention.
As Andy slammed into the creature the creature held back with its sheer strength and prevented them from flying backward, while it stuck its right claws deep into Andy's hollow abdomen that was covered in fur.
But that wasn't going to deter Andy from trying to hold the hunter from reaching Sky.
Andy dug its claws deep into the junction between the hunter's tapered end and abdomen attempting to tear it apart like how the hunter Andy fought was immobilized.
That could have turned the fight in Andy's favor if the creature hadn't suddenly jerked backward sending a gush of golden fluid into the air from where Andy had just dug its claws into.
'So, these creatures have fluids in them instead of the darkness that dwelled within their thoracic cavity?' I wondered, also thinking about why the leader Andy fought didn't have any fluid coming out of its tapered end.
Using brute strength wasn't in Andy's favor because the hunter was a lot stronger than it. But there was something Andy could use to win against the mindless hunter; the cunningness and intelligence of the being invading its mind.
Looking at the wooden cart, Sky had already moved a little distance from the cart, giving me what I needed to do the next thing that I did.
I had to finish the fight as fast as I could because I could feel Andy reaching its breaking point and as much as I wanted to keep pushing it, it was more relevant to us alive
The hunter was already injured, not as much as Andy but its own was almost fatal or one could say could easily lead to fatality.
Picking up the wooden cart Andy rammed into the severely injured hunter whose body continuously switched in and out of the states of its existence; from complete solidness to complete fluidity to somewhere in between.
It was beginning to lose its connection to its tapered end and Andy was there to make it worse.
The wooden cart rammed into the tapered end causing the creature to growl in pain, as it tried to reach for Andy and tear it to pieces but Andy had the upper hand.
Andy dug its claws back into the junction between the creature's abdomen and tapered end that were joined together with only a few tissue strips and tore through the tissue strips causing the tapered end to roll limply to the side.
While the creature protested in pain Andy dug its claws into the creature's neck in an attempt to tear its head off its neck.
Congratulations, you have defeated one of the hunters of the Blizzardkin clan.
Reward: knowledge about the Blizzardkin clan.
As the creature's head rolled sideways towards its tapered end a floating notification popped up.
'What? ' I thought.
I thought it was outrageous that after making Andy ram into the crazed hunter creature and defying the caste system there would be a better reward than knowledge about the Blizzardkin.
The Blizzardkin? What a strange name!
It turns out that the creatures don't even know what they are called.
Hassan's fight with the creatures was still on and he still moved at the same speed as when he initially got attacked by them but the creatures looked exhausted. They didn't look like they were the predators but instead, they looked like the ones being hunted.
The cuts at their joints were slowly building up and driving deeper into their joint cavities slowly reducing their use of their upper extremities.
I tried to make Andy rush to help Hassan in his fight but couldn't get it to move. It was clearly past its breaking point.
As I tried to push Andy further to make it join the fight I found myself in the vast darkness and then back to the familiar feeling of slow excruciating pain. I was back in my body and when I looked up to where Andy was, I saw Andy's battered-up body lying dead from a wound in its abdomen and overall battle exhaustion.
' farewell, friend ' I said to it and then turned to Hassan and the two other hunters.
Maybe it was time for an upgrade?
I started to think about how to initiate a mind transfer for a new creature. I didn't fully understand how I could do it but once I thought hard enough about the ability I saw myself in the vast darkness; an indication that I was already in the process of transferring my mind.
