"Isn't it even more dangerous to go in like this?" Sky asked
She was talking about our exposed human bodies. If Hassan wasn't so quick with the upgraded skills that he got from the strange stat I could've invaded the creature's mind.
But then if he had wasted any time we probably would have been dead.
"Yeah. That's a good point ."
"Can't you invade a creature's mind?" Sky asked again.
"No. I don't think it works like that"
"Why don't you try it?"
Sky! Oh, wonderful sky! She was a sweet person and had helped me with carrying my body from danger but she was starting to get on my nerves. They were both getting on my nerves.
Closing my eyes like I knew what I was doing when I didn't, all I could think of was how we were sitting ducks waiting for another creature to attack us from nowhere; especially when I had my eyes closed.
Sky was acting annoying but deep down I hoped that what she said would work so I could just make the top creature kill itself and we wouldn't have to go back into the cave.
As much as I tried to focus on mind transfer I couldn't get anything...I wasn't even close to the vast darkness, which was the measure of my proximity to the creature's mind.
It wasn't as if I had even tried during those times that I succeeded in invading those creatures' minds. It always happened immediately I thought about making it happen.
Opening my eyes I was met with questioning eyes that didn't dare to ask questions because they thought it would distract whatever was going on.
"It doesn't work that way"
"I think we should just go in and find the king and hope we don't run into any creature" The fear in Sky's voice seemed to worsen mine.
My heart felt like it was sinking deep into my chest and my hands began to tremble.
We were walking into our demise and there was nothing we could do about it. Hassan was our best bet at surviving and that was the route he had to take. As much as he was our best bet at surviving, he still needed my mind transfer skill and the information that I knew.
They lifted me into one of the wooden carts that were left by the weak creatures and Hassan was going to lead the way with me guiding him through the path, while Sky pushed the wooden cart from behind.
"Hey," I held Hassan's shoulder as he was about to lead us into the path we had just come out of. "Don't kill the first creature we see. I got it"
Crazy acts and statements were becoming normal to me. Who would have thought that I would be looking forward to another creature?
Turning forward Hassan didn't say anything nor did he make any body movements yet his lack of response seemed like a response.
I stared into the top of the cave as I was wheeled into possible imminent death enveloped by fear that grew by the second.
Then my mind wandered back to the strange profile info that Hassan and Sky had talked about. Just as it got to my mind the rectangular floating box appeared right in front of my eyes.
'Back to where I was'
It was strange how it seemed as if curiosity overshadowed every other feeling. It did overshadow every feeling because every fear that I felt had been drowned by the thoughts of what the ten thousand messages could be or even what the player's info could do to make me more like Hassan.
The floating rectangle wasn't that far away from my reach so I had to just raise my upper limb a little to click on the message.
Just as I was about to reach for the message the symbol dissolved together with other things on that page and with it gone another page came to replace it.
The new page was filled with words from the top to the bottom of the floating rectangle.
The group of words was arranged in sections and the sections were covered in rectangles of different colors. That was familiar; it looked as if I was in a group chat.
FIERY DEMON: Let's see what this game is going to be like.
NOT TO BE KNOWN: Player 1758 is going to be hot. I can see it.
CONSTELLATION ###: More like is going to be dead soon... 😂😂😂
FIERY DEMON: I'm bored already. Why are they making them eat?
SNAKE ENCHANTRESS: They're all going to die.
The messages went on and on until I couldn't read anymore. Whatever that group chat was it was full of unhinged people. It was like peaking into the darkest minds.
'is it really up to ten thousand messages?'
I thought as I scrolled without reading the messages. It was too much to read and most importantly my mind wondered why it was as if they were talking about us.
'A game?'
They all referred to it as a game.
I didn't know whether to be happy because I had guessed it correctly earlier on, or to be sad because the whole situation was pretty messed up.
How rich were they to afford to pull these things off? How were they able to make me transfer my mind to another creature? Were the creatures even real? Did the ones that die get taken back to their homes?
All these questions that I had pushed to the bottom of my mind came rushing back to the surface.
I opened my mouth to ask Hassan and Sky how they felt about what was happening but remained quiet when a new thought popped into my mind.
'What if they're part of the game too?'
Maybe that was part of the game? Sky offered to help me in the arena. That was a very kind gesture; a life-saving gesture even, but who said my life needed saving? Who knew where the dead ones in the games went to? It could be back to their homes...
Hassan being unable to get out of there might be another ploy to get the sick game going.
Even with my leg injury... How were they able to pull that off? At that point, I could barely feel any pain except the pain in my shoulders.
'My leg '
I hadn't looked at it since back in the storage room. The leaves were no longer wrapping around my legs, almost making me doubt that they were even there, to begin with. Was that another ploy? A sign that everything that had happened was just another simulation...
All these hypotheses popped in and out of my mind and I felt like I was truly going to lose my mind to craziness.
