Chapter 2 - chapter 2... training

I was driven by revenge. day by day I trained in the forms of combat that suited my class.

my ability that I got from my class [card hero] would be something I kept to myself. the reason? because heroes have terrible fates.

my cards were true to their description, random skills, and random timers.

some good, some bad. some permanent, some temporary.

like fire resistance, good. but hawk feet are bad.

I could use daggers but swords, axe, spears, and any other weapons were a no-go.

I began finding... exploits to this world's level system. see some races level up extremely slow, but get better rewards as they level up.

humans were by far the weakest of the heroes, but we made up for it in determination.

for humans to level up the same way as other races we would need over a thousand times the xp.

humans were naturally weaker and hence why we don't live too long. however, you can gain XP by doing many things.

killing, farming, cleaning... other things. it's just you get more XP for your class job.

now a little-known cheat you get XP for killing ANYTHING that has life. so for my childhood, I would go to any ant piles and drown them all.

don't worry ants your sacrifices will be worth it when I have my revenge.

I'm going to slaughter every single bandit there is. I believe in gender equality, so I will treat girls, men, beastkin, demigods, birds, angels, and whoever they may be equally.

I was on my fourteenth anthill when it finally happened.

[you leveled up]

I still had a long way to go before I could get my revenge, and this would be only the start, soon I'll kill every bandit across the country.

I was walking near the forest again searching for any hills, or birds. I found one soon after, so I grabbed my bucket and drowned all the ants.

although the ants only gave 0.1 XP, there were thousands of them, and they all add up.

I hid behind a tree and readied my cards. I flipped the card on my finger before throwing it with perfect accuracy and cutting off the bird's head.

I put the bird in my pouch and I kept the small animals that I killed. I would sell these to the butcher and earn some money.

in another pouch, I had herbs and other medical plants that I would sell to the magician for healing potions.

the currency of this world is copper, silver, and gold.

100 copper = 1 silver and 100 silver = 1 gold coin.

as I explored the small forest area I found a pack of goblins. I expertly used my clock to hide my presence.

[cloak of darkness

mask presence by 40% to hostiles]

this was something I found in my parent's room, and since I was now alone I made sure to put it to good use.

I injected mana into my feet and climbed a tree where I would get a good vantage point.

three cards appeared in-between my fingers and I threw them. the card ripped apart one of the goblin's arms, a leg, and the other's head.

another two throws and these goblins were soon killed.

I grabbed my knife and cut off the left ear of each of the goblins to confirm the kill.

I carried my stuff and went to the adventures guild. it was a new building since in the last two years we started adding much-needed stuff.

at first, it was only a bakery and some houses. but now we have a town full of stuff.

I opened the door to the adventures guild and walked to the receptionist.

"three goblins" I put the goblin ears on the desk.

"how's my only adventurer doing," the elf receptionist said as she confirmed my spoils.

"...." I didn't say anything and waited for my money.

*sigh* "You still aren't talking huh?" the elf said.

she gave me my 40 copper and I turned around to leave.

"ah, before you leave please take this" She handed me an arm brace. the arm base was the perfect size for a couple of decks of cards...

"Who are you" My eyes visibly hardened.

the elf only gave me a playful smirk before flicking my forehead.

"go on card hero... you have a lot to accomplish" she said before disappearing.

my teeth clenched. who was this woman who was posing as the guild receptionist, and how does she know of my class?

oh, little did poor Axel know the amount of drama she would take this man through.
