Chapter 8 - chapter 8

my mother helps with keeping the home clean and well-stocked, and I help with all the finical problems.

tiamat meanwhile was providing this place with the magic energy to run, since she had the highest mana pool.

the mana being used would be replaced in a matter of seconds, that's how op dragons are.

the only reason why Tiamat was captured was because for as long as she remembered she always lived in that cage.

add in the fact that she always had a dwarven-made collar that could bind her, then she couldn't escape.

I had her on my lap as I pet her head, while I was petting her I began thinking of the possibilities of why she was in the cage.

could it be she was sold as a sacrifice? or more like offered?

normally dragons are very protective of their kind, but there are a few occasions when they either disown or get rid of their kin.

either they were the runt of the litter or they were stolen, and considering how the kingdom isn't having any trouble with dragons I'm assuming the first option.

but that didn't matter to me, Tiamat was family now, and nobody will take her from us.

I fed Tiamat some freshly cooked deer, like how I normally did. I was so used to living life as an adventurer that I could honestly live just on hunting.

that was at least til the royal capital came to collect our taxes, and fuckin hell they were scamming us.

the town had to pay 10 platinum to pay for "expenses" to help this city develop.

forget 30 gold, these people barely had enough money to buy food, much less pay their taxes.

almost immediately there was an outrage, the town citizens were ready to kill these people.

yelling and screaming were heard, but the children who were with their parents were crying and scared.

I put my fingers to my mouth and let out a piercing whistle that made everyone cover their ears.

I walked over to the tax collector and gave him the ten platinum.

"if I don't see changes in this town in a week, I'll be joining the dusk town against the kingdom. and trust me, the demi-humans would be GLAD to have me" I said before turning around.

the tax collector's face turned beet red before pointing his dirty, nast finger at me.

"tr- treason," he said as he looked at the guards to arrest me.

my hand was on my dagger ready to kill them with a single slash.

"go on, let's see how many of you I could kill so you could go home without any guards, let's see who will protect you," I said as I flipped my knife in my hand.

one of the soldiers, bless his soul, did charge at me with his sword and shield.

I dodged and kicked the back of his knees before cutting his throat.

the man dropped to the floor seconds later as he lost his life.

"stop" a woman yelled in the crowd.

I looked and saw parents covering their children.

I sighed and looked at the tax collector.

"I'll be seeing you guys on the battlefield and I will not show you mercy," I said.

I put my dagger away and went to my home. I packed my equipment and made sure to take Tiamat, Ellie, and my mother.

(Ellie is the elf he bought)

I took Ellie so I could drop her off at the elven city she lived in since it was on our way.

tiamat bless her soul decided to give her spot on my shoulders to Ellie so Ellie could see our surroundings.

I gently reached up and snapped her collar. the collar would have a failsafe and released spiked into the slave's neck, but I was faster.

I threw the collar away and continued walking.

I saw Ellie's beautiful smile and I could help but give her one back, I then let out a laugh. one that I haven't done since I was younger.

it's been so long since I haven't laughed that my face was hurting a bit, but that didn't bother me.

I walked with them, and when we reached the forest I held my hands up and my mother followed my lead.

we stopped a good distance away and I waited, and like cockroaches, the elf's emerged from the bushes.

"State your business human," the high elf of the group asked.

with my hands that were still raised, I pointed to the girl on my shoulders.

one by one the elf's eyes grew wide as they saw the girl on my shoulders.

"you- your Highness?" the high elf said as he knelt immediately.

my body froze as I looked up at the girl on my shoulders stunned.

"teehee," she said as she gently kicked her feet.

the high elf looked nervous before expressing his thoughts.

"come princess, your mother has desperately been searching for you ever since you wandered out of the kingdom," the elf said.

"Ellie," Ellie said defiantly.

"...what?" the elf said confused.

"My name is Ellie," she said crossing her arms, defiantly.

"but the queen named you Aerin," the elf man said.

"...so are we going to meet the queen? or should I just drop her off here?" I asked.

I was then promptly escorted through the elven city, and I had to admire the beauty of it. of course, we were escorted to the big tree and that's where I met a woman who could match my teacher's beauty.

her beautiful dress matching her hair, and her pale skin was si only beautiful. gods... women are too beautiful in this world.
