"My Lady!" As soon as Simon's voice sounded, the pair of shining blue eyes suddenly lost their light, and they now resembled night; dark and mysterious.
But Evie kept staring at the pair of eyes that had just turned a darker color, and the owner of those eyes stared back at her. Perhaps it seemed like an illusion when Evie saw the way his eyes changed color, and if she wasn't sensitive enough, she might have thought it was just her imagination because the pair of blue eyes now looked like ordinary eyes.
But she was a vampire, and even if her senses weren't functioning properly due to the drugs still affecting her body, she could still feel the man's aura.
"My Lady! Why did you end up like this again?" Simon almost cried when he finally found his master lying helpless in the back seat of the car.
Coming with him were a few bodyguards the company had hired to protect the actress, and they soon caught the unconscious man who was still lying on the ground.
This time, Simon helped Evie up from her lying position in the back seat while removing the cloth covering her mouth.
"I was waiting for you backstage, but you didn't come even if the show was about to start. I was so worried about you, My Lady! I tried looking for you in every corner of the resort, and finally, I found you here!" Simon babbled, but Evie couldn't even focus on the manager.
While everyone was busy with their jobs, the man who had saved her quietly slipped away from the scene, and Evie had trouble getting any sound out of her mouth even if her mouth was no longer covered by the cloth.
Even her limbs still couldn't move, and that was why she failed to stop the man from moving away. His figure was out of sight, and Evie was sure to cut Simon's wages after this.
"Are you okay, My Lady? I think the kidnapper used some drugs on you, right? You can't move your body, and it's still hard for you to talk, right?" Innocently, Simon asked her, and Evie desperately wanted to move her hand to slap him on the head if she could.
It seemed like there was something in her throat that she couldn't even let out a single word at the moment, but from within, she was trying desperately to shake off the effects of the unknown medicine.
Her mouth opened and closed a few times as she tried to get sound out of her mouth, and the sight was quite comical in Simon's eyes. The old man even tilted his head in confusion as he watched what his master was doing.
"YOU, SILLY AND OLD WINDBAG! I WILL REDUCE YOUR SALARY IF YOU DON'T STOP TALKING!" Finally, Evie was able to make a sound, and that was the first thing out of her mouth.
Even the bodyguards looked shocked when the actress suddenly screamed, but Simon was probably the one who looked the most scared of them all.
"I… I'm sorry, My Lady. I know I shouldn't have let you go to the restroom alone. I should have been with you the whole time. This is indeed my fault, My Lady," Simon apologized helplessly, but Evie just wanted to smack the man on the head even more.
If she had forgotten that the man was older than her, her hand would have landed on Simon's head, but she still remembered her manner, which was why she didn't do that.
'Wait. I still can't move my limbs now, and I won't be able to hit Simon's head even if I want to,' she suddenly realized the situation.
"Don't worry, My Lady. We caught the kidnapper this time, and I will report him to the police. He can't do anything bad to you again, My Lady," Simon said after apologizing, but Evie's face painted with disapproval upon hearing that.
"No need to report the bastard to the police," Evie replied, glancing at the bloody kidnapper held by her two bodyguards. "Have some people send him to the mansion and lock him in there, and you all have to keep today's accident a secret. I just want that bastard locked up until I get back to Northshear."
That was Evie's decision, but Simon looked confused as he asked, "Why didn't you report the kidnapper to the police, My Lady? And why did you even want to lock him up in the mansion?"
Should Evie stop paying Simon's salary this month? Not only did her manager arrive too late to save her, but the old man also easily let go of the werewolf. As if that wasn't enough, Simon chose to continue questioning her instead of just following her orders. That was enough to piss her off.
"You kids better get back to the resort now and task the two of you with sending that bastard kidnapper to my house in Northshear. Tell the guards at my house to lock that guy in one of the rooms and don't let him escape at any cost. Is there anything you can't understand from my orders?"
When Simon refused to obey her orders immediately, Evie chose to talk to her bodyguards this time, and unlike Simon who was sometimes disobedient, the bodyguards listened carefully to her, which was why they immediately did as they were told.
Not long after, the bodyguards left the scene with the kidnapper, and now only Evie and her manager were there. Evie was still in the backseat of the car, while Simon was standing at the side of the car.
"I somehow felt the kidnapper was suspicious," Evie finally explained after there were just the two of them at the scene. "He kidnapped me twice using the same method, but somehow I don't feel like he's obsessed with me or anything. He also has a luxury car, and I'm sure his motive isn't money. Now, we have to keep this car with us and try to investigate where it came from. I want to know his true motives, and maybe someone else is behind it."
