Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Ciel's power & Challenging the boss

8:00 pm.

The sun moved from the east to the west turning the sky black. The stars immediately shimmered, illuminating the lonely night sky that had no moon.

Xander was currently walking to his house which is only two hundred metres away from Harry's house.

Ultimately he and Harry decided to let his dad prove himself; if his dad really is who or what he says he is, then he should prove it practically.

*Whoo*

Xander heard the sound of someone pass him by and he looked back immediately. He didn't see anyone there and he continued walking.

It was already dark so not so many people were walking about. The street lights were on, illuminating the dark and lonely path in front of him.

*Shoo*

He heard it again; this time, this time he was sure that he heard something pass by him.

On top of the building beside Xander there was a silhouette of a hooded figure. This person watched and followed Xander closely waiting for an opportunity to capture his target.

Feeling that he was being followed Xander began walking faster. This day couldn't get any weirder.

All of a sudden, a black bag fell over his head, held by someone or something, making it impossible for him to remove it immediately.

"What the... Ahh!"

He struggled but it seemed like the person was very strong; he couldn't even hold the person's hand as they swatted his hand away without any effort at all.

*Bam!*

All of a sudden, Xander felt the bag become weightless and he removed it from his head, ready to run in the opposite direction of whoever that was.

As he removed it, he turned around to run but he immediately stopped as he caught a glimpse of someone... And not just anyone.

He turned around to see his father stretching his hand towards the hooded person.

The hood fell to reveal a man with the symbol of a crescent moon on his forehead.

Xander stood there like a statue as he stared at his father in shock, surprise and disbelief.

At the back of his father's palm was an 'x' symbol that glowed in the night. Xander watched how his father spoke to the man while the man looked like he was being tortured.

To his sheer disbelief, blood sipped out of the man's ear and it rose into the air, before forming a small blade. His father waved his hand and the blade slashed the hooded guy's throat, killing him.

Xander couldn't move because he was too shocked to process anything. This man in front of him didn't seem like his father at all.

As Ciel, his father turned around Xander saw his eyes glowing red in the dark, coming towards him.

He wanted to run but he couldn't. It was like he froze in place, all his muscles won't listen to him. His heart started beating in fear as he watched his father walking towards him.

"Now do you believe me Xander?" Ciel asked, staring into Xander's eyes directly.

Xander nodded his head quickly. What else was needed to be proven? He just saw liquid blood turn to a solid blade; if that wasn't superpowers then he was dreaming. And he was sure that if he had a dream, he wouldn't see his father there.

"Who... Who is he?"

Ciel looked back at the hooded man he just killed before answering his son that looked shaken and pale.

"He was part of the ghoulshippers." He simply answered.

He turned to his son with a fierce face and said, "Son, your mother is in danger. I want you to go home and wait for me. I'll be there with her shortly." He said before he turned into red mist and dispersed into the air.

"Ah." Xander tried to grab his father but to no avail, he only grabbed the air.

'Go home and wait for me.' The words replayed in Xander's head and he immediately began running home, not wanting to stay where there was a murder just now.

...

Upon reaching the one storey building Xander climbed upstairs and locked the door behind him after entering his house.

He has received too much shock for today. He finally accepted that his life will never remain the same after today.

It was already [8:54 pm].

Xander decided to go and play league of Guardians to take his mind off of reality for a while.

He didn't waste any time and went to his room, plugged in his flash drive and started the game.

He was pulled into the world of the game quite quickly as he began losing consciousness. He closed his eyes and entered the game world again.

Opening his eyes, Xander was greeted by various tents on the grassland with people walking about.

"Welcome back my lord."

Xander turned to see his maid Maria starting near him with her normal cheerful attitude.

"Maria..." Xander mumbled with a smile as he looked at the coincidence of her and his mom's name being the same.

"How is the blacksmith–"

His words were cut short by the beeping of the system, followed by a notification in front of him.

[Congratulations! You have improved blacksmithing in your territory. Improvium +50]

[Congratulations! You have improved cooking in your territory, improvium +50]

Xander was quite surprised at the sheer amount of improvium given to him for improving his territory.

If this was how this works then he might be able to get enough improvium to completely evolve the village.

"Hey Maria. I'll be back soon, need more resources." Xander said and Maria nodded, still smiling.

Xander then walked out of the village to outside it.

He opened up a screen and began checking for available players. He specifically typed in a name that was used by a certain somebody.

[Mr handsome]

A player ID came up and he pressed call from on the screen.

It was indeed fascinating that he can call and contact anyone he wanted within the game.

Nothing like voice call, only video calls can be used in the game; they were all in a virtual world, the cost of video calls here are much less than how much they cost in the real world; which is nothing.

"Hey Xander! What took you so long?!"

Xander looked at the screen and saw Harry without his glasses smiling and he too smiled.

"Let's go hit a dungeon." Xander said.

"Sorry man, I can't. My level isn't high enough." Harry said dejectedly.

"Ok, level up. We'll play together another time." Xander replied and went straight to his tent.

"You're back?!" Maria, his maid asked in surprise.

"I am. I'll be back soon okay."

The maid nodded again and stayed outside his tent. Xander entered his tent and immediately went through the portal to the flame world.

He stepped onto a solid ground in front of a large cave which was the entrance to a boss room.

Hearing struggling noises he looked back to see some players battling some fire demons and fire birds.

Some of them spotted him in front of the boss's room and was surprised that he actually played the level up mode.

The other players didn't even pay attention to the level up mode until they found out that equipments and improvium dropped there. They were originally killing monsters in the forest close to their territories.

Also, since there was a boss in the flame world, they can be high level equipment drops.

"No!"

One of the players shouted as he saw Xander walking towards the boss room attracting the attention of other players also levelling up.

Xander just looked back and smirked before pushing open the massive doors and entering, to fight the final boss of the flame world.
