Chapter 14 - Irinas City

The City of Irinias was built at the center of a gorgeous jungle and is truly an architectural phenomenon. Its allure is matched by the backdrop of tall mountains, which have helped shape the city into what it is today.

The trade resources these mountains brought were of great importance to mortals and, most importantly, mages and warriors that grew stronger with the help of these resources and trading them with others.

Though they were also influential when it came to architectural designs, as the vast majority of buildings have been built with rocks from those very same mountains.

The skyline is growing with soaring towers, and a new one seems to pop up every other week. Recreation is impeccable in Irinias, and it has attracted a lot of attention.

Various cultures have left their mark not just on the academy of mages and warriors but also on the city's identity. What historically was a city of few differences has grown into a new culture of variety, and it's this that unites the 4 million people to this day.

At the center of the city stood a magnificent castle made of the strongest and most expensive rocks mined out from the very depths of the tallest mountain behind Irinias. The castle itself was, in fact, just three tall towers that were tens of meters high that spanned kilometers in width, towering over the whole city and taking a whole big chunk of the city center.

Two smaller towers flanked the middle tower, where the king resided and trained.

At this moment, inside the throne hall of the castle, an important conversation that will decide the fate of this kingdom is currently being held with the king as the main character.

The throne hall was quite magnificent, but this wasn't the time for anyone to take a longer look at any of it since everyone was totally focused on the king, waiting for his next words.

The king sitting on the throne was none other than Einar Varman, the ruler of Irinas.

It could be vividly seen that he had a troubled expression as he gazed at his children and council right below him, facing him while sitting on majestic chairs that weren't that far off from the king's.

" I have already made my decision, I'll be fully responsible for the baby dragon and the future resources it will provide. The empire will naturally get its fair share, but that will be it. Does anyone have any questions? And keep in mind that I won't tolerate any arguments that will go against my decision."

He cast a quick glance at a person sitting inside of his council members the moment he spoke about the empire, but he shifted his gaze in a moment's notice and cast it on everyone else, finishing his words and waiting for anyone who was willing to ask anything about this matter.

Suddenly, a muscular boy in his early twenties with savage-looking black armor and a face full of scars stood up and got closer to the stairs leading to the throne. He knelt on one knee and spoke with the utmost respect.

" Father, I won't ask for the dragon pet since you already claimed it, but I'm obliged to ask for a new set of armor made of that dragon's scales the moment he grows up and start providing resources. I hope you can accept your son's demand!"

The king casually waved his hand, asking him to go back to his seat with a neutral expression. Even though it was a demand, not a question, he didn't mind since this would calm the rage everyone was feeling towards him for the moment.

" Your demand has been accepted. Next-person approach if you have any questions or demands like my eldest son!"

The tense air thickened as a middle-aged man in a blood-red robe emerged from between the council member's allocated seats. Each step intensified everyone's breathing; sweat dripped from their foreheads and water soaked their backs.

' Oh, interesting, looks like he made a breakthrough in some way in the law of fire. Seems like he is close to comprehending the fourth law and breaking through to the fourth realm and becoming a Great Mage.'

Einar noted that important information and elevated the standing of this middle-aged man in his eyes.

The middle-aged man knelt on one knee, but instead of speaking as the previous person did, he only stood there silently, waiting for permission to speak his mind.

Einar permitted him to speak with a slight nod, bothered by the time he was currently wasting.

" My king, we are missing some cannon fodder on the frontline that can distract the enemy for months. An additional dragon will be of great use and importance to the future development of the war, I'm even confident that we will be able to take a good chunk of our neighboring kingdom if you allow it."

Einar placed both his hands on his chin as he appeared to be thinking about it, deep down however, he had already decided to decline the offer; he just didn't wanna say it at this moment since it might lead to this middle-aged man who soon to be a great mage to ally with the others and threaten his grip on the true dragon resources.

After a few minutes of silence, Einar looked at the middle-aged man with a deep gaze and gave him an answer.

" This is indeed a good opportunity. Glad you brought this up this early; I'll make sure to inform you whenever he is in age and grows strong enough; at that time, I won't mind giving him to you for some time."

The red-robed man thanked him and went back to his seat, making everyone be able to breathe freely again, their minds not forgetting to note that important piece of information.

After everyone asked a thing or two and got to demand some resources out of the king, the meeting continued for several hours, talking about random things happening around the kingdom till everyone finally left, leaving the king alone with his own thoughts.

' Finally, it's over. Time to go and check on my treasure.' Einar smiled as he stood up and made his way to the garden in the backyard, his face and body full of energy, unlike the way he was presented in front of his people.
