Chereads / Awakening of the Dragon God / Chapter 16 - Reality.

Chapter 16 - Reality.

Meanwhile, when the conversation outside came to an end, and Einar left hastily to depart to the empire's capital, the baby dragon inside of the greenhouse slowly opened his eyes, red light flashing out of them for a little while.

' Finally, I have some means to protect myself in dangerous situations.'

Sam slowly stood up as he focused on his newfound power, which was the first gift the dragon god gave him to be able to survive in this world that favored humans and treated dragons as mere pets that weren't allowed to get strong enough.

His eyes shone with red light for a brief second; in the next moment, an identical copy of himself appeared a meter away from him, casually standing in front of him.

' Very interesting; from the information I received on this ability after I acquired these eyes, this illusion should be capable of executing every move I order it off, and based on the few spells I obtained from the eggshell, I can think of a couple of things I can use my eye's ability to it's fullest.'

He grinned, showing his terrifying front teeth that weren't fully developed for some time, but then it hit him, and he couldn't help but ridicule himself.

' I have never tried using the spells I got from the egsheel in the first place. Plus, I don't know if my illusion will replicate them, and even if they will be replicated, that's not the first thing I should think of for now.'

He soon remembered the predicament he was currently placed in and pushed all those thoughts to the back of his mind, but this time, he wasn't as worried as before; as a matter of fact, he was looking forward to seeing what this gift of his is capable of.

'What the dragon god had told me after I had to go back and retrieve the reality eyes from that memory is insanely unbelievable for the old me that didn't yet eat his eggshell and learned what magic is and how to use various spells.'

' Based on his explanation, the memory that I used to go to the same place the dragon god brought me to isn't actually a full memory in itself; it's in fact half a memory, and the other half is literally reality.'

From what Sam came to understand after the dragon god explained everything to him, was that the memory in his mind was basically a portal to another space; the only difference was that time in there wasn't working properly.

He was also told that no matter how many times he tried to enter that part of his memory, he won't succeed in doing so unless it was his time to receive the following gifts or ask the third question on his fith realm.

' This is indeed a magical world, but to think actual beings who think and speak like me are actually in possession of such power, that's simply exciting and terrifying at the same time.'

Despite that thrilling idea of unimaginable power and how did these people get to reach such heights, he didn't dwell much on that subject and concentrated on the ability of his reality eyes.

' Based on the description of the ability, this illusion can fool people one higher rank than me just because I have the magical body of a true dragon, which is superior to every other living being in the world of Cardica. That's good to hear.'

He sighed in relief after learning about his insane body and magic capabilities, but he also frowned deeply the moment he thought of that.

The words of the dragon god quickly hit him, and worry temporarily flashed past his eyes.

' I'm already in a situation where my dragon body is placing me at a great disadvantage from the get-go; this is something I shouldn't be excited about for now. I need to get out of human territories as soon as possible; I'm no longer a human, and every sentient creature that knew the value of money will be drooling over my body.'

' Also, if my memory didn't fail me, true dragons that were akin to the rulers of the worlds got utterly defeated at the hands of humans, and even the mighty dragon god is no more but a lowly prisoner whose power was stripped away from him. Damn it!'

The more he thought about his new self from different angles, the more he realized that his body and magic prowess wasn't actually a blessing but a curse.

What made it worse was the fact that the dragon god warned him about focusing his attention on magic to best humans. From his words, he should follow a totally unique path that no dragon dared to step into before, or else he would be meeting the same end.

' Okay, this isn't something that can be wholly planned out in a matter of hours inside this place; I should first adventure and get used to my new body and strength. Speaking of which, where am I anyway? I wonder where did his Highness or whatever his name was took me.'

Sam wasn't as bothered about his new reality as the Dragon Lord expected him to be.

From the moment he experienced death at the hands of the Dragon Lord, albeit he was quickly resurrected and didn't fully realize what happened, a feeling of survival that any life form possessed but didn't deeply cherish as someone who had once gone through that feeling bloomed inside of his soul.

To top it off, just the fact that he spent years inside his eggshell, slowly losing memories about his past self, made him adapt to his current situation a bit faster, and at this moment, he was someone who was only trying his best to survive and get stronger in this world.

His reasoning was simple.

He had already died once, and he surely didn't like the feeling of losing all his consciousness, vanishing from the world of the living, disappearing for good, never to be remembered, even incapable of remembering himself.

Having a chance to strive for power beyond his imagination that could even allow him to live forever, ruling over countless people just based on the fact that he was way stronger than them, made him like the exchange of the Dragon Lord, and he inwardly accepted it.

No sane person would ever waste such a chance for no reason.

So what if he could right now bow down to these humans and live peacefully here?

What will that accomplish?

Nothing!

Literally nothing!

He would still be dying at some point or living without control of his future!

And no matter how many memories or friends he made, that's if he was even capable of getting friends in his dragon form like the novels he had once read, he found it to be pointless.

Humans were beings that needed relationships of various aspects and needs to survive on earth.

Did dragons need such a thing?

Absolutely Not!

Do dragons need to love, care, or precious other people from their own lives?

Definitely Not!

As he thought of all of that, he couldn't help but wonder what the dragons in these novels that accepted being friends with humans and wasting their lives chasing love or protecting others for no reason thought.

Did they actually realize that they weren't humans anymore?

Have they thought of the possibility of living forever, getting powers beyond anyone's imagination, and even attempting to venture past their world at some point?

'Have they been brainwashed or what?'

Sam laughed in ridicule at the dragon novels and even the people that only cared about others after they were reincarnated with endless possibilities he once read and stepped out of the greenhouse.
