Chapter 22 - Chapter 18: The azure eyed scourge

CLANK

One of the elven soldiers actually dropped his weapon in awe and fear. Everyone was left in alarm, Heilis who had taken the full brunt of the attack was knocked unconscious with a few of his limbs bent in awkward shapes and blood coming out of his mouth and nose so much that it was highly likely he was dead. Even Beldandy was shocked, she did not understand the absurdity of creating this much destruction with only physical strength and a simple downward sword slash.

"Curse you, were you trying to kill him?"

Only one soldier approached Karlmine with rage written all over his face and grabbed him by the collar.

"I did warn him that it would be dangerous but he insisted."

Karlmine's voice was neither vindictive nor remorseful just vacant.

"Even still."

The soldier clenched his collar even tighter, it was clear he cared deeply for Heilis and Karlmine appreciated that.

"I really commend you for having the courage to do this for your friend especially after what you just witnessed but_____"

His slitted eyes turned ferocious intentionally.

"You will do well to unhand me this instance lest the others pick up your limbs from all over the place."

Apparently the stare managed to strip the soldier of every last bit of courage he had left and he faltered and stepped back just like Gareth he ended up tumbling down and fell on his bottom.

"W-Who are you?"

The question was not exactly asked purely out of fear but also out of acknowledgement of Karlmine as a being of unconceivable might, a transcended being.

"I am the weakest, the one who hates losing and above all I am one who holds each and every victory in my hand."

He replied in a manner that sounded like and chant and boasting but his stoic faced said otherwise, this was merely a fact. Even though he said that as if it was natural he had no idea where that phrase came from but he felt like he had spoken it a number of time before and that it held a great importance to him.

The incident marked the end of training, everyone was shocked by what had happened to c9ntinue anyway. Heilis was taken to the infirmary for emergency treatment and Karlmine's already unpopular view by the populace increased even further. One of the reasons everyone scorned Karlmine was because of his seemingly prideful nature despite being of an inferior species but now that they had seen his power first hand and came into realization that the extent of his might granted him every right for his arrogance, their hatred turned to fear which bore an even greater distaste.

On that day he got a new name, the elves stopped addressing him as 'mortal' and fashioned for him an even more detestable label THE AZURE EYED SCOURGE.

Geswald, the old warrior who had just witnessed his son get taken out like that was enraged however true to his rank as the chief warrior he did not lash out in anger but rather praised Karlmine.

"Now I am well aware of how horrifying facing that man is."

Samora noted that he no longer used the term mortal as a reference to Karlmine.

"Indeed he is a monster, however I feel like he is even more dangerous right now than he was a decade ago."

The princess' remark caused the old man to frown.

"That sword strike right now, I have seen it in real battle before but it was not that potent and if you realised he did not use his full strength just now."

Of course many were just in awe at the absurd reality of a mortal wielding that type of insurmountable strength but in the eyes of warriors, they already gauged his true strength and that was even more frightening.

Samora, as a princess she rarely fought seeing as that was the job of her guards and the soldiers but the truth was that she was one of the strongest individuals in the entire fort. She had seen many battles, a seasoned veteran indeed.
