Chapter 26 - VS Sabrina Final.

The shootout between Eevee and Alakazam lasted for a few minutes until Alakazam's Swifts eventually overpowered Eevee's.

"Dodge with Quick Attack!" Kaori.

Eevee gracefully evaded some of the Swifts but the rest began to track him down.

"Swift isn't an attack that can be conventionally evaded. Future Sight." Sabrina.

Alakazam took a meditation position and emanated a purple energy out of his body.

"Smash into him with a Double-Edge!" Kaori.

Eevee's energy spikes and he crashes unto Alakazam. The psychic Pokémon takes a few steps back and Eevee does a flip and winces from the recoil damage.

'It wasn't that powerful?' Kaori.

"Reflect." Sabrina.

Kaori widens his eyes and sees how a semi-transparent barrier appears in front of Alakazam before disappearing once again.

"Psychic-types tend to have weakness to physical attacks due to their low defenses. That's why Alakazam's always ordered to put a Reflect at the beginning no matter what." Sabrina.

'So, she made him use Psych-Up but he used Reflect right after it without me noticing.' Kaori.

He then looked at a space near Eevee.

'Future Sight's about to finish. In that case…' Kaori.

"Eevee, use Dig!" Kaori.

Eevee dug a hole and hid. A few seconds later, the Future Sight hit the side where Eevee was standing and crashed against the wall.

"Alakazam, use Substitute." Sabrina.

Alakazam claps his spoons together and a small doll etches on his chest.

"Now, Recover." Sabrina.

Alakazam heals himself.

"Stop spamming that move already! It's getting annoying." Kaori complained jokingly.

"It's strategy, you could do the same, ah, but Eevee doesn't have any recovery moves, does he?" Sabrina.

"Ooh, you're wrong, lady~ Eevee, use Sappy Seed!" Kaori.

For a moment, the was confusion in the eyes of everyone since that wasn't a Pokémon move that they've ever heard off.

Eevee sprung from underground alongside a big bean stalk. From the top of the stalk, various seeds began to fall upon Alakazam.

Alakazam was hit by the big seeds and then was stomped by Eevee, whom backflipped a couple meters back.

Sabrina blinked twice before seeing roots ingraining within Alakazam and a ball of energy flew towards Eevee, healing his injuries.

"Leech Seed?" Sabrina.

"Wrong~ Sappy Seed has the effect to drain the health of the enemy just like Leech Seed, the upside is that not only deals damage, but since Alakazam's the only Pokémon you've got left, the effects will last until the end of the battle." Kaori.

"So, you're Eevee has some special moves, eh? Splendid." Sabrina.

"That's not the only one, Glitzy Glow!" Kaori.

Eevee emanates a psychic energy that spreads through the whole area and attacks Alakazam.

"Light Screen!" Sabrina.

Alakazam creates a bluish barrier that lessens the moves of Eevee's attack. Alakazam easily tanks the move without too much worry but the energy drain remains and more of his health was sapped away.

"Baddy Bad!" Kaori.

Eevee emanates dark energy and it focuses on Alakazam's feet.

"Dodge with Teleport!" Sabrina.

The light beneath Alakazam's feet turns black and a beam is shoot from below, Alakazam teleports away but some speckles of the attack hit him.

"Take back what's yours with Drain Punch!" Sabrina.

"Counter with Freezy Frost!" Kaori.

Alakazam teleports behind Eevee and attacks but black icicles appear beneath him and encapsule his whole body.

The ice shatters and Alakazam continues his attack, pushing Eevee back. Alakazam regained some health but was surprised to see Eevee relatively fine, taking into account the type advantage of the move and his increased attack.

Just then, two barriers overlapped with each other and appeared in front of Eevee.

'A Light Screen and Reflect?' Sabrina.

"Surprised?" Kaori playfully said.

Sabrina looked at him and began her thought process.

'Even with a Reflect on, that Drain Punch was still increased. Unless…!' Sabrina.

"Freezy Frost: A move that resets the stats of the foe back to original. Just like Mist and Clear Smog." Kaori.

"And the other two moves, they sat Light Screen and Reflect respectively, right?" Sabrina.

"Indeed, Glitzy Glow and Baddy Bad are moves that not only deal damage, but also set up the barriers to reduce damage." Kaori.

"Revealing your tricks, you are either overconfident or just a bit egocentric." Sabrina.

"I'm neither, I'm just telling you so that you can enjoy the battle as well." Kaori smiled.

"But the effects bypassed Substitute. Otherwise, how could Alakazam be affected when the doll's still intact?" Sabrina.

"Indeed, it was a surprise to me as well when during training, Eevee managed to bypass Substitute with these moves." Kaori.

The energy sapped from Alakazam heals Eevee.

"Eevee, Double Team and Sizzly Slide!" Kaori.

Eevee duplicated himself and charged towards Alakazam while igniting himself in fire.

"Alakazam, Psychic, the Eevee at 6:00 o'clock." Sabrina.

The blast of psychic was shot towards the real Eevee but Kaori smiled.

"Eevee, break the substitute with your Sizzly Slide!" Kaori.

Eevee kept charging forwards and was hit by the psychic, only to disappear.

"What?!" Sabrina.

Just then, another Eevee crashed into Alakazam, breaking his substitute. Alakazam was pushed back and regained his footing, but was confused at what happened.

"I know your weakness." Kaori.

"My weakness?" Sabrina.

"All this time I wondered how you managed to pinpoint the real from the fakes and a theory brewed in my mind. You use your psychic powers like a sonar, detecting the energy within a Pokémon, something the clones lack." Kaori.

"The problem with this is that moves that envelop energy around a Pokémon such as Reflect, Light Screen, Aurora Veil, etc. are also replicated by Double Team, and therefore can fool your abilities." Kaori.

Eevee began to happily jump around and waved his tail.

"Alakazam, use Psychic!" Sabrina.

Alakazam charged a psychic blast and shot it towards Eevee.

"Shadow Ball!" Kaori.

Eevee shot the Shadow Ball towards the Psychic, resulting in a clash that generated a shockwave that pushed Eevee back.

"Alakazam, follow-up with Teleport and deliver a Focus Blast!" Sabrina.

Alakazam teleported to the ceiling and began a barrage of Focus Blasts.

"Evade with Quick Attack!" Kaori.

Eevee began to dash through the smoke while avoiding the Focus Blasts. The blasts kept destroying the arena and the shockwaves damaged Eevee, but he wasn't gonna give in right now.

"Counter with Sand Attack!" Kaori.

Eevee positioned himself and puts sand in his fur, he then jumped towards Alakazam and threw it at his eyes. A faint blue glow indicates that Alakazam's accuracy was lowered by one stage.

"Yeah, keep attacking with Sand Attack." Kaori.

Eevee kept throwing sand at Alakazam, reducing his accuracy. But Kaori felt something was wrong, why else would Sabrine let Alakazam's accuracy be lowered?

That's when it hit Kaori! A Pokémon move that was rendered unusable in later generations, but as seen with the exclusive Let's Go moves, all Pokémon moves exist in this world, so that move should also be here by effect.

"Miracle Eye." Sabrina spoke with a lower tone.

Alakazam's eyes glowed up and a big eye appeared above him, the eye looked at Eevee and stiffened its gaze.

"Miracle Eye negates any changes in accuracy of the user until the foe switches or faints. Given Beedrill's remaining health, you won't be able to swap fast enough before Alakazam can Fire Punch him into defeat." Sabrina.

"Yeah, on the other hand. It's a good think that you've let yourself be hit this much, otherwise, I wouldn't know how to counter." Kaori.

"Tail Whip!" Kaori.

Eevee whipped his tail and Alakazam's defense was lowered by one stage.

"Defense lowering is useless, given Alakazam's speed, I won't allow you to--" Sabrina was cut-off.

"Now, use substitute and Last resort!" Kaori.

Eevee spawns another green plushie that attaches to his fur and envelops himself in normal type energy, just that this time it was overflowing.

Kaori has trained with his Pokémon team ever since he arrived. He wanted to check the differences of the moves firsthand and to do that he made his team use their moves repeatedly for him to analyze them properly.

A very unique thing happened with Eevee's case. Not only does his unique moves' effects bypass substitute, but the move Last Resort works differently.

In game, Last Resort could only be used once all other 3 moves were used at least once, but in this reality, Eevee had to use 15 different moves to allow Last Resort to be usable.

When discussing the matter with the System, he received the answer that the reason was due to Eevee using more than the regular 4 moves. While its true that in this reality a Pokémon doesn't permanently forgets a move, using the typical 4 is easier strategy-wise.

But Eevee uses a lot of moves, which in returned changed the dynamic of Last Resort. Kaori asked for similar cases and the System clarified some moves.

The OHKO moves can connect with a target but that doesn't necessarily mean that they get one-shotted, the probability is still 30%.

Smeargle's Sketch can copy Legendary Pokémon and Unique moves but the effects and damage are reduced.

Moves that became unusable after generation IX are usable, such as Miracle Eye, Telekinesis, etc.

Z-Moves and Dynamax moves can be evaded but not fully protected, even by the substitute.

Thief and Covet can steal any held item but said item must be returned after the battle, or else you'll be a criminal.

If you use a move that requires a certain terrain factor, like sand or sunlight, the Pokémon will create said element. For example: you use Sand Attack in the middle of the ocean, the Pokémon will create the sand using ground energy and use it like a normal Sand Attack.

The Pokémons can learn any and all the moves that appear in Bulbapedia, Wikidex, and Pokémon Reloaded fandom.com. These include but are not limited to egg moves, event exclusive moves, purification moves and tutor moves.

A Pokémon's health is also measured according to his stamina. If a Pokémon uses a move, it's stamina decreases a little, the more complex the actions the more stamina consumed. Even if they use recovery moves, only a small part of their stamina is recovered, what those moves do is to heal their damages.

This means that a Pokémon that spams recovering moves will eventually tire itself out and faint, even if his injuries get healed.

Given all those changes, Kaori kept training (playing) with his team so that they could learn different moves. Like Mega Drain for Beedrill.

Back to the fight now.

Eevee finished charging his move and tackled Alakazam.

"Barrier, Reflect, Protect! Defend yourself from the impact!" Sabrina.

A three-layered shield was placed in front of Alakazam and Eevee rammed into it.

The forces of the moves resounded all around the whole gym as Eevee broke through the Barrier layer and was met with the reflect.

"Keep going, Eevee!" Kaori.

"Push through with your Psychic powers!" Sabrina.

Now, Alakazam was even using Psychic to keep Eevee at bay, he was pushing the small brown Pokémon each time further from the Reflect.

"Now's the time! Change the move to Veevee Volley!" Kaori.

The energy surrounding Eevee spiked further and destroyed the Reflect and was met by the Protect.

"Break through the limit!" Kaori.

Eevee kept pushing but the Protect wasn't fading, Protect was on a different level in terms of defense action.

"Alakazam, once the attack is over, finish Eevee off with a Focus Punch!" Sabrina.

Alakazam prepared himself for the finishing blow as Eevee's energy was diminishing. The spectators were looking in awe at the raw power of Eevee and the psychic prowess of Alakazam.

But ultimately, they concluded that Eevee would lose. The fatigue from all that energy is already bad, alongside the damage received from Alakazam. But Alakazam was no better!

Getting his health drained by Sappy Seed, the damages from Glitzy Glow, Baddy Bad and Freeze Frost, alongside the usage of his energy. Not even Recover was enough, Alakazam's energy was getting lower and lower.

The only upside was that it was still higher than Beedrill and he could still defeat him, should Eevee faint.

*CRASH*

The Protect ended alongside Veevee Volley.

Eevee was suspended mid-air and saw Alakazam finishing charging his attack.

"It's over! Focus Punch and follow up with Psychic!" Sabrina.

Alakazam threw his punch forwards aimed at Eevee, who couldn't move.

At that moment, everyone thought it was over, except for Kaori that showed a passionate gaze.

"Eevee, use Baton Pass!!" Kaori.

A red baton manifested in front of Eevee's mouth and he bit it.

Eevee was enveloped by the red laser of his poké ball and evaded Alakazam's Focus Punch.

"It's not over till I say it's over! Everyone's efforts will never be wasted!" Kaori.

Then, Beedrill came out of hie poké ball and charged towards Alakazam, whom even with his guard down, used Psychic on Beedrill.

"TWINEEDLE!!!!" Kaori.

Beedrill charged at Alakazam with his remaining strength and focused all his power in both of his stings. The psychic hit Beedrill but he didn't stop and rammed himself towards Alakazam.

Alakazam kept pushing with his Psychic, Beedrill winced in pain as he used the last of his power and stabbed Alakazam in the chest. The last attack resulted in a massive explosion that obscured the area.

Everyone was tense as the smoke was slowly dissipating, two silhouettes were seen, Beedrill was on the ground and Alakazam was standing.

"Beedrill can no---" Sabrina's father was cut off.

"Wait! Look closely." Sabrina.

Her dad alongside the crowd looked closely and noticed that Beedrill was still barely conscious but Alakazam had spirals in his eyes, he fainted.

"Alakazam can no longer battle, the winner is Beedrill, which means that the winner of the battle for the Marsh Badge is… KAORI!!!" Sabrina's father.

The crowd exploded in cheers, visibly startling Kaori whom fell from the loud noise. He recomposed himself and ran towards Beedrill while releasing his whole team and hugged Beedrill.

"We won!" Kaori.

Sabrina sighed happily as she returned Alakazam and clapped her hands. Soon after, the whole crowd was doing the same and Kaori looked at them, he was overwhelmed. Pressing a button, let your Pokémons do all the hard work, it just doesn't have comparison with BEING there and guide them to victory.

He did notice Fearow a bit grumpy for fainting but Monferno was taking care of him alongside Ivysaur.

He had won, no! THEY had won, and Kaori's joy skyrocketed. This victory reminded him of how much fun Pokémon battles are, and why he made the correct choice to follow this path.
