Chereads / Bringer of Retribution / Chapter 32 - Preparations For A Race

Chapter 32 - Preparations For A Race

When Danny and Chaos returned home, Chaos went to his room to study while Danny called to the two Fay he brought back with him from Faerie.

Sitting on a wooden chair on one side of the table, looking at the two Fay sitting on the other side, Danny opened his mouth.

"So... What is it that you want to do?"

He asked, and confused expressions spread over the Fays' faces.

"What do you mean?"

Donovan asked.

"Alberich, you and the princess are both outside of Faerie. You are beings based on magical energy, and without connection to the tree, you'll die. Aside from that problem, I also don't know what to do with you. I can't just have you hang around the house all day."

Danny explained.

"Is there no magical energy in Hell?"

Donovan asked.

"There is, but it's more sparse and less tame than Faeries'."

Danny answered.

"So why did you bring us here?"

Donovan asked.

"I'm certain that I can solve that problem. My main issue is that I don't know what to do with you."

Danny said.

"How will you solve it?!"

Donovan asked angrily.

He still does not completely trust Danny, and even if his safety is not guaranteed, the princess's safety is of the utmost importance.

Danny sighed deeply as he understood that there was only one solution he could think of.

He had to call that damn father of his.

"I found a solution for both problems. Neither of us will like it, but it's the only thing I can think of."

Danny said and stood up.

His father had absolute authority in Hell and could make it so that magical energy would converge around these two Fay.

He could also give Danny a solution for the second problem, though this would probably be a long-term issue, even if there is a solution.

He pulled his phone out of his pants pocket and dialed his father's number.

["Daniel! My rebellious bastard. To what do I owe the pleasure?"]

Satan recognized the number calling him and asked.

"I need your help with two kids I'm taking care of."

Danny answered.

["Oh. The Fay children. Yeah, I expected this call. Here, have it on the house. Ricuz!"]

He chanted, and with a wave of the Devil's hand, magic converged around the two Fay, and no matter where they moved, it was like a never-ending air bubble surrounding them.

This amount of magical energy was more than Donovan had received in Faerie, and he could feel himself getting stronger.

The princess was already used to this amount of magical energy, and it made her feel at home.

Danny was unsatisfied with this outcome.

His father had already learned of his exploits in Faerie, and Danny knew he would never give him something "on the house," so he could only assume the second part of his request would cost him.

"I also want to have these two taught."

Danny said and could practically feel the smug expression on his father's face from the other end of the phone.

["I can get them admitted to any middle school in Hell, but it will cost ya."]

The demon king said.

"Fine. Name your price."

Danny had no way of arguing.

He wasn't in any position to negotiate and could only long for the day he could dispose of his father.

["This weekend, Yona, the head of the Baal Clan's estranged Leviathan Branch, will announce that he is planning a sort of treasure hunt. The winner will receive his branch's support. I need you to go there as your brother's representative."]

Satan explained.

"Do I have to reveal my identity?"

Danny asked.

Even if he went as his brother's representative, he didn't want to reveal it was him who was doing it.

["No. You are free to deal with it as you will. The race will be held in Athens, in the mortal realm, this weekend."]

Satan said and hung up the call.

Danny returned to the table and looked at the two Fay.

"I won't be home this weekend. Don't do anything stupid."

When he mentioned doing something stupid, he looked directly at Donovan.

"Why are you looking at me?!"

The silver-haired Fay asked.

"I'm sure the princess will listen to me. You, on the other hand..."

Danny chuckled.

"Dinner is ready!"

Sara called loudly as she started placing food on the table.

"Go wash your hands."

She said.

The next day, Danny was thinking of two things.

One was how to get to the mortal realm.

There was the Celestial Train and Purgatory, but the train required permission that only high-level demons could receive, and Purgatory was very dangerous.

The second thing he thought about was who he should take with him.

He wanted to take Chaos because he was his most trustworthy ally, but the two of them couldn't be enough.

As he thought, he didn't notice where he went and walked into what felt like a wall.

He took a step back and noticed that it was a person and not a wall that he walked into.

It was Mr. Hephaestus!

This was perfect!

"Sorry for walking into you."

Danny said, and his old teacher chuckled.

"It's fine. But I do wonder what it is that made you think so deeply."

Mr. Hephaestus said.

"I need to get to the mortal realm this weekend."

Danny answered.

"How do you plan on getting there?"

The rough-looking teacher asked curiously.

"I was just thinking that maybe you could give me your permission."

Danny said.

The black-haired Greek demon thought for a bit before nodding his head.

"Fine. But don't do anything too stupid."

He answered, and Danny was relieved.

That was one issue taken care of.

Now, he needed to decide who he should take with him.

He couldn't take everyone, because it would be difficult to make a covert operation with a too large group...

"Hi! Whatcha doin'?"

Danny heard a female voice from behind.

"This weekend, Chaos and I are going to the mortal realm, and you are coming with us."

Danny declared.

Mira didn't show any objections, so Danny saw this issue as solved.

The rest of the week went smoother than the previous week, and they reached the weekend in no time.
