Chapter 38 - Deal With The Oni Clan

"I have information regarding a group that plans on overthrowing your rule on the Oni Clan. I only know the main participating branch and don't know when, though."

Danny said, and a devilish smile spread on his face as he saw that his words picked this clan leader's interest.

"And what do you want in return for the identities of these traitors?"

The Oni Clan's leader asked.

This information couldn't come cheap.

"I will give you a list of fifty Fay who live in Faerie. I need you to bring them to Hell before the end of next week and build them a large enough housing next to where I live."

Danny explained his demands.

"Bringing fifty Fay to Hell is an interesting request, and I'm willing to humor you. But building them housing is something that I would prefer a better payment than just information."

Oninoō said.

The Oni Clan's intelligence network could easily find fifty Fay and no particular resources were required. But building a small town, large enough to house fifty people, required arrangements and a little information, wasn't worth it.

They would need space expansion items for each house and proper sewers, and barely two weeks didn't cut it without the fitting motivation.

"What is it you want?"

Danny asked.

"You can choose. If you are as impressive as my son says, then I'd like to offer you an official post in the Oni Clan, and you'll be able to have any of the clan's girls as your wife, but I assume you would rather not. So I have another offer."

Oninoō said with a disappointed tone.

Having Danny join their clan would guarantee control over him, but it was unlikely he would agree to that.

"Father...?!"

Momotaro was shocked.

Danny may be impressive, but promising such things to a low-level demon who he had never seen in action before?

How confident was his father in his people reading skills?

"My other request is that you ensure my son's safety whenever he is in your vicinity. That is, if you both go to the same place for the Demon King Tournament, I want you not to hurt him and make sure he doesn't die."

Oninoō said, and Danny nodded approvingly.

"I accept your second offer."

Danny said happily.

He intended to keep Momotaro alive regardless of this deal, so this is perfect.

Danny reached with his hand to shake the clan leader's hand.

He wanted to establish a demon's contract so neither side would betray the other.

The Oni Clan's leader shook Danny's hand, and the contract was established.

"Do you have that list here?"

Oninoō asked about the list of fifty Fay Danny had mentioned.

"No, sorry, I'll give it to Momotaro in school tomorrow."

Danny answered apologetically.

"Then let's start this transaction with the information you have."

The Oni Clan's leader said.

"I don't know his branch's name, but Hidoi, an Oni Clan member in the second year of our school, spoke openly in his class about how his branch, under the leadership of his father, is planning a coup and is recruiting demons from other branches and even clans."

Danny shared the information he'd promised.

"Thank you. I'll have my agents look into it and dispose of the treacherous blood that has inhabited my house."

The old Oni said with anger.

Hidoi's father had voiced his concern about letting a reincarnated human and Oni slayer inherit the clan, but Oninoō didn't think this cousin of his would go that far.

It was unforgivable.

"You can leave now. Momotaro, give this young man your contact information so he can send you that list. I want to repay him for this information as soon as possible."

The clan leader was fuming with anger, and steam was coming from his body.

Momotaro gave Danny his contact information and led him out of the Oni Clan's territory.

On his way back, Danny sent a message to Chaos to tell the Fay kids to make a list of fifty Fay they wanted to have with them.

He also stopped in a small shop to buy two school bags and equipment.

He had already notified his teachers that he wouldn't be coming to school in a bit.

Tomorrow, he wanted to talk with the middle school closest to his house about admitting the Fay kids to study there, and during the rest of the week, he planned on taking his crew, including Alaparos and Alya, to Faerie to steal the fruit at the top of the tree.

In the meantime, the school would probably finish arrangements for the kids' admittance, and the Oni Clan would have already started construction.

He had a lot of work ahead of him.

This included negotiating the giving of magic for the fifty Fay with his father.

He couldn't help but wait for when the next two weeks will be over.

After he finished buying school supplies, he headed back home.

********

"So what was it about a list of fifty Fay we want with us?"

Donovan asked.

He was bewildered by the sudden random request.

Danny looked at him and then at the princess, sitting at the table and thinking about who she wanted by her side.

"I've received word that Faerie will be eradicated under the All Creator's command and a request to save fifty of its people and Faerie's fruit."

Danny answered loudly and clearly so both kids would hear him.

The princess raised her head from the sheet of paper in front of her and looked at him with eyes pleading for him to say he was kidding.

"I'm sorry. Saving these fifty Fay is already going further against the divine order than I had planned for the time being. I can't stop the tree and its denizens from being killed."

Danny apologized.

He was honestly sorry but was just a low-level demon. What could he do against the only god?

Maybe if he could harness the abilities of the "God of Magic," he could challenge him, but he doesn't even know anything about that self-proclaimed god.

"I want you to give me a list. I will make sure they live, and I've already arranged housing for them. I need you to put your trust in me once more."

Danny asked.

"Sure, but only if you take us with you when you go to Faerie."

It was the princess.

Ever since her father betrayed her and Danny had put him in his place, she rarely spoke, but she was now making demands.

"If that's what you wish. But in return, you will go to school here in Hell after I finalize your admission."

Danny agreed to her request.

Donovan, after being told of the truth, had said nothing.

His life in Faerie was worse than his life in Hell, but it was still his home realm, and everything he knew was there.

"Please add names of people you know to the list. I can promise you that if you give me the name people know them by and where they can be found, they will be safe from certain doom."

Danny crouched to speak with the silver-haired Fay.

Donovan nodded his head lightly in agreement and started thinking of people he wanted to save, like the princess.
