After issuing his request for a duel, Danny didn't wait for the bell and went to the front courtyard and sat on his knees patiently.
He waited there for long enough for four people to ask him if he was okay.
As soon as the bell rang, he stood up and waited for his brother.
Marcuse Bloodborne, the prince of Hell.
Danny wasn't stupid enough to not know what his father was doing to his brother.
But it didn't matter to him.
This was a matter of his pride.
"Just a low-level demon"?!
If that's what his brother wished he was, then he will destroy that delusion of his.
Around two minutes passed from the start of the break, and Marcuse finally showed up.
"Is there a way for me to apologize for what I said and let it be water under the bridge?"
Marcuse asked as he stood in the front yard, facing his brother.
Danny's purple eyes weren't any less scary to him than they were to other people.
And with that angry glow...
Looking at them, he had a strong urge to pee.
"Less talking. Attack when you like."
Danny said.
Marcus sighed and reached with his left hand to the air on his side.
"Auctoritas Magicae! Imperium Magia! Massa Productio!"
Marcuse shouted, and unlike before, it wasn't a single spear that he summoned.
A dozen or so spears appeared in the air on Marcuse's left.
They were all pointing at the white-haired bastard.
A half-human, low-level bastard, who received their father's acknowledgment when it came to his skills, but none of the expectations.
Marcuse saw red as he let the spears shoot through the air toward his brother.
Was Danny even able to control these many spears with so much magical energy in each? Did it even matter?
At that moment, Marcuse didn't care about Danny's fate.
But not to worry, Danny wasn't planning to lose.
The spears all stopped in the air, with most of them nullified in an instant.
At this point, the fight had garnered a lot of attention from students, and Danny could even see teachers heading their way.
It wasn't the school policy to stop fights, but Danny didn't want to test his luck.
He took a sharp breath, and with a simple movement of his hand, the spears he hadn't nullified had turned into a vail of dense smoke that was as hard as a rock.
No one will be able to see, hear, or stop what happens inside.
Marcuse looked with shock at his brother.
This level of magic control was truly unprecedented, even among high-level demons, and for a low-level demon to have it was outrageous.
Why did Danny have it?!
Why couldn't it be Marcuse?!
Marcuse was filled with anger and launched at his brother with a punch to the face.
"Why are YOU so angry?! You think you have it rough because you see him every day?!"
Danny asked as he evaded the incoming punch.
"What do you know?"
Marcuse asked angrily as he attempted another punch.
"Do you know how I, a low-level demon who wasn't acknowledged by our father, was accepted into this school?"
Danny asked.
"You are the smartest low-level. Why would they reject you?"
Marcuse asked.
He couldn't understand where Danny was getting at.
"Dear old Mephisto got me in! He sent me a letter a week before the start of the year that said that he will always control my life and that I'm just a cog for him."
Danny answered and, with a swift move, grabbed Marcuse's hand and locked him to the ground.
"So what?!"
Marcuse asked.
"You may be under the fire of his expectations, but you are still seen as more than a tool."
Danny answered with a deep sigh.
"If you wonder why I have this level of control and not you, then don't worry. This wasn't given to me by our father. I checked all the records. Both Mephisto and The All-Creator have red eyes, just like you."
Danny said.
A long time ago, when they were way younger, Danny attempted to explain to Marcuse the way he sees things. So the blond prince already knew that a big part of Danny's control was from his eyes.
And if they weren't related to their father, then Marcuse had nothing he could blame Danny for.
All Danny had were the teachings Marcuse's mother forced on Danny as torture, the scrapes their father left him, a broken mother, a maid who works for their father, weird eyes of inexplicable origin, and his own effort.
Danny truly was as admirable as Marcuse had thought, and this only angered him further.
Why couldn't he be like his brother?
Danny released him. And with a draft of wind that Marcuse could only guess was a spell lifted the prince on his fit.
"Can you teach me that chant-less magic of yours? I want to get stronger."
Marcuse requested.
"No. You want to learn it, then learn it on your own."
Danny said.
He looked at the ground and then back at Marcuse and decided what he would do.
He is going to support his brother as he has done until now. This would be his way of getting released from his father's influence.
And after the school year ends, he will leave. He will learn all he can about his eyes, that weird vision, and that "God of Magic" and pave his own way through this world.
He lifted the veil of smoke that hid the brothers' conversation and started walking back to class.
He passed by Mr. Hades, who was called over since he was among the top teachers at the school.
"Daniel..."
The old demon tried speaking to his student, but Danny just moved forward.
He wasn't in the mood to entertain his old mentor.
Mr. Hades looked in the direction he went with a worried look and then turned his head to see Marcuse surrounded by a bunch of students and teachers.
As Danny walked, he decided he didn't need to head to class yet and changed directions to the roof.
The building's roof was usually locked.
But a magic lock was nothing in front of Danny.
On his way there, he passed by a second-year classroom and heard something shocking.
So he used an invisibility spell and sneaked into the class.
