Chapter 26 - The Party Incident

Looking at the guy, Jake could tell he was very confident in beating Jake without breaking a sweat. Smiling on the inside while keeping a straight face on the outside, Jake made his choice. "You have a deal. Are we doing this here or are we taking it outside?" Jake asked.

"Let's take it outside. I don't wanna upset Trish by breaking some of this stuff in here." Walking over to the balcony, the guy jumped straight down to the ground without falling.

'What!' Jake thought suppressing the shock he was feeling. 'What sort of training do these guys go through? To be able to jump from this height without breaking his legs, that's insane. But let me show him he's not as good as he thinks he is.'

As Jake was about to jump down Cat grabbed his arm. "Jake you don't have to do this. There might be another way for us to settle this, there's no need for you to get beaten up by an egotistical third year." Cat said to him apparently a little sober due to the situation.

"Thanks for having so much faith in me Cat." Jake joked.

"Don't joke about this. I'm serious, don't go."

"Don't worry Cat, I'll be fine." Jake assured her and gave her a kiss on her cheek.

Jmping down, Jake landed on his feet with his knees bending a little.

The look of surprise was evident on the face of Jake's to-be opponent, he didn't expect a second year student to be capable of doing that. "The fact that you can also jump down from there doesn't matter." he said still confident in himself.

[System Quest: Beat your opponent till he loses consciousness]

[Reward:60exp]

'No way I'm going to miss out on getting this amount of exp.' Jake told himself.

Running towards him with his full speed, Jake began throwing punches which his opponent was dodging continuously. "Billy! Billy! Billy!" the group of people who had come to watch the fight between them started to shout the name of Jake's opponent and hail him. "Billy! Billy! Billy!"

"Wow, you're fast." Billy told Jake while continuing to dodge the punches. "But I'm faster." Dodging a punch and deflecting another, Billy threw his fist right into Jake's ribs and it knocked the air out of Jake completely.

Hailing Billy even louder this time, the sound was attracting more people and soon Violet was watching what was going on in the fight. Even Kevin had shown up and had tried to get them to stop but was stopped by four other people.

Taking a step back while holding onto the side of his ribcage, Jake was steadying his breath and also waiting for the pain in his ribs to stop. 'He's a little bit faster than me but even that small difference in speed still counts, is his strength also more than mine? Let's find out.'

Moving closer towards Billy gradually, Jake threw out punches again while Billy dodged them like last time but after throwing a few punches, Jake swung his head back before bringing it forward with all the strength he could muster and butted Billy right on the center of his forehead.

Moving back in pain, Billy was moaning while contorting his face in pain and touched the spot on his forehead where Jake had headbutted him. "That was a good surprise attack I'll give you that," Billy said bringing his hand down from his head, "but I..."

Interrupted by an uppercut from Jake, Billy was slightly thrown off his feet before falling on his back. "You talk too much." Jake said to him as he punched him in the face again. "That's for trying to grope Cat you punk." Giving him another punch, Jake told him, "And that's for hitting me in the ribs."

Getting up, Jake's fist was bloody with the blood from Billy's unconscious body. He went to wash it off then went to meet a now sober Cat sitting on a chair with tears in her eyes.

"Are you crying?" Jake asked her as he sat down beside him.

Looking to her side and seeing Jake, she hugged him tight. "Are you alright?" she asked looking at his body for any signs of an injury.

"I'm fine. I told you not to worry."

"Of course I was worried. You went to fight a third year student because of me."

"Not because of you Cat, for you."

"Same thing. Did he let you go or did you win?" Cat asked still worried. "I couldn't watch it again after he hit you in the ribs. Does it hurt?" she asked him touching the side were Billy had punched him.

"Really Cat, I'm okay. And do you really think a guy like that would let me go?"

"You actually beat him?" Cat asked surprised.

"For you Cat, I can beat the whole world if I must." Jake said acting like a lovesick puppy.

"Let's not push our luck. I want to go home now, are you coming?"

"Yeah, I've had enough partying for one day."

They both got up and headed to the gates. "What about Cassie?" Jake asked.

"She's probably somewhere enjoying herself. I don't want to tell her about all this now, I'll tell her when she gets home. What about Sky?" Cat asked as they both continued walking towards the gates.

"He's definitely with a girl right now. I can't imagine him doing something else." Jake answered. "But there'll be no need to tell him about what happened here. By the time he's leaving, everyone here would have heard about it including Cassie and our not-so-responsible host, Trish. Did you see the way people were staring at us?"

"It is expected." Cat replied. "I mean, it's not everyday a third year student loses to a second year."

Getting into a Glist, the driver took them to Cat's house. Jake came down, paid the driver and tipped him while Cat brought out the keys to the door of her house.

"Quite an eventful day today, am I right?" Jake asked climbing the porch with Cat.

"Yeah. Thanks for standing up for me, it really meant a lot." Cat said gratefully.

"I told you Cat, anything for you." After saying that Jake leaned over and gave her a long gentle kiss on her lips while moving his hands to her waist and drawing her closer which Cat responded to by wrapping her arms around his neck and returning the kiss.

Separating themselves, Jake smiled to Cat as she opened the door and was about to close it after stepping in when Jake called her. "Cat."

"Yeah."

Going to meet her Jake kissed her on her lips again before saying "Goodnight."

"Goodnight Jake." she said to him then shut the door.

Jake felt like being luxurious tonight so instead of walking home or getting into a two-person Seetle, he booked a Glist to come pick him up with his phone. While waiting for the Glist to come he decided to check his system messages he had gotten after beating Billy.
