Chapter 29 - Study Spree

After hearing what Mr Blackwell had just said, there was commotion everywhere in the class. People were complaining and clamoring about what they had just heard. The news was also announced in other classes and the same reaction was gotten, the complaining and clamoring of the students.

When he was done listening to the noise they were making, Mr Blackwell walked over to a table and slammed his palm on it putting in just enough force to prevent it from breaking.

Stopping the clamoring and complaining due to the sudden bang which came from Mr Blackwell, the class was quiet once again. "I had told you all to study, keep studying for your upcoming examination. Some of you listened to me, and some of you didn't." Mr Blackwell addressed the class. "Take Jake for example, when he first got here he couldn't answer a single question. Now it's like any question he answers never leaves his brain, I would like to think this is Catherine's good influence on him. Is that correct Jake?"

"Yes Mr Blackwell." Jake answered. "She has really helped me out a lot."

"That's very good." Mr Blackwell said. "I will give you students my period to study. If you like, do whatever you want. I have done my part as a teacher."

Immediately after saying that Mr Blackwell took a few things from the table and walked back to the lounge where the teachers usually stay when they are not teaching any class.

"Blackwell." said Mr Tim, a short man with a huge belly, and wore glasses. Immediately Mr Blackwell stepped into the room which was the teacher's lounge, Mr Tim had called out to him. Walking over to his seat which is close to Mr Tim's, Mr Blackwell walked past everything in the lounge.

The lounge was very spacious and comfortable. It had six couches and four recliner chairs, there was a huge refrigerator which contained things put in by the staff in charge of making sure the lounge was always perfect every morning and the refrigerator also had things put in by the teachers themselves. Two beds were also available in the lounge for any teacher that had nothing to do and felt like taking a nap, a television was also provided for the teachers in the lounge along with different recreational games and devices. The teachers lounge had to be made as comfortable and as cozy as possible so that the teachers would always be pleasant enough when teaching the students.

"Blackwell." Mr Tim called out again when Mr Blackwell had reached his seat. "Why do you always talk to this kids so much? It's not like they ever listen to us." Mr Tim said with a video of Mr Blackwell talking to one of the second year classes replaying on a screen placed on Mr Tim's desk.

"I talk to them so much because it is my job, that is what I'm being paid to do and they are not all spoilt brats." Mr Blackwell answered with the stoic expression still on his face. "In class 2C, there's a boy named Jake. He has changed, whether it is as a result of my advice or not. Shouldn't you be doing something more productive than watching me teach on your Renlo mini-screen?" Mr Blackwell asked while looking at the screen on Mr Tim's desk.

"I do whatever I want with my mini-screen." Mr Tim replied. "Me being here is already productive enough."

"That's right Tim." another teacher chimed in.

Back in class 2C, the students had started clamoring again after Mr Blackwell had left.

"I guess this is it." Kevin said while putting his hands behind his head.

"Yet you don't seem worried." Jake told him.

"Why would I be worried? Do you know how long I've been studying for this stupid exam?" Kevin asked him. "Besides, I'm glad it's here. I can't wait to become a third year."

"What's so special about becoming a third year?" Smith asked.

"Don't worry about that dude. When we get there you'll understand what's so special about it." Kevin told him.

"Guys we're wasting time." Jake said. "Instead of talking let's study quickly with this period Mr Blackwell gave us." 'Thank God for my high mental moxie.' Jake thought. 'I probably would have still passed this examination with an average result if not for it.'

As most students began taking out their books to do last-minute studying the class quieted down, they were trying to cram what they had been taught that session quickly before the examination starts tomorrow.

After school was over a lot of students hurried home to continue the last-minute studying they had started in school.

Opening the door to his house and stepping in, Sky went straight to the dining room to sit and immediately began studying.

"Oh now you wanna study." Jake commented as he walked to the stairs and went to his room. While taking a shower Jake was doing some thinking. 'I'm going to have to put that last quest on hold. I have to put all my attention on the examination that starts tomorrow. But I was really looking forward to completing that quest and getting some more exp.'

Leaving the bathroom and putting his clothes on, Jake went to the table in his room, brought some books out and started studying.

Coming back home, Andrea was surprised to see Sky sitting at the dining table wearing the same outfit he had worn to school, Sky hadn't even looked up even though he heard the door open. "Let me guess," Andrea said, "your exams are starting. And judging by the way you're studying, I'd say it is starting tomorrow."

"Wow dad." Jake said coming down the stairs. "That was a very accurate deduction."

"I know. I'm that good." Andrea said.

"He's been like that since we got back from school, the only part of him that's moving are his eyes. Apart from when he wants to change the book he's reading, he didn't even have lunch."

"He's not going anywhere until he finishes whatever it is he's studying. And that could take hours." Andrea explained. "Let's just leave him alone and have dinner. I'm starving."
