Going back to school again after some days of enjoying the break, Jake was eager to finally get into the building for third year students.
"I can't believe it." Kevin said as he was walking to the building for third years with Jake and Smith. "This is officially the number one moment of my life."
"This is amazing." Smith said. "We finally get to be third year students."
"Guys the excitement is too much." Jake said trying and failing to hide his own excitement.
Getting into the building, they saw themselves in a grand hall along with other former second year students. Standing on the podium at the front of the grand hall was a woman in her mid-thirties.
"Students!" the woman at the podium shouted into the microphone to get their attention. "I am Miss Summer Keister and on behalf of the school management, I want to congratulate you all on becoming third year students of Dicenview Academy. As third year students you will be taught how to defend yourselves and will also go on expeditions to different planets. You will find the results of your simulation examination on the schools website."
"No don't check it now." she said after the students took out their phones to check out the results. "I still have a lot to say to you all."
"In a short while, a vehicle will be arriving to pick you all and take you to a facility where you will get your very first... Magical Ability."
Noises came from the crowd below as they heard what she had just said.
"This is amazing." one of the students said.
"I can't believe we're going to get our own magical abilities."
"I wonder what mine will be."
"Do we get to choose the ability we want or what?"
"Everyone calm down." Summer said into the microphone. "You will get the answers to your questions when you get to the facility. The vehicle will be arriving very soon so you are all required to wait here."
"Hey guys, I'll see you later." Jake said and was about to walk away.
"Hey hold up. Where are you going?" Kevin asked him.
"I wanna look for Cat." Jake answered.
"Do you have to?" Smith asked.
"No. But I want to."
"You're right Jake. I think I'm gonna go find a girl to chat with. See you later dude." Kevin said tapping Smith on the shoulder and walking away to a group of girls.
"Bye bro." Jake said also walking away to look for Cat leaving Smith on his own.
"Just great." Smith said as he leaned on the wall behind him.
Taking out his phone, Jake called Cat.
"Cat what's up, where are you?"
"Hey Jake, I'm at the front of the hall. The right hand side."
"K. I'm coming to meet you."
Pushing his way through the crowd, Jake went to meet Cat and saw her with two of her friends.
"Hey." Jake said to them.
"Hey." one of them said to him and put her hand out for a handshake. "I'm Nikki."
Shaking her hand, Jake also introduced himself. "I'm Jake."
"So you're Cat's new boyfriend." Nikki said smiling and looking at Cat.
"You really have to bring that topic up now Nikki?" Cat asked.
"Of course Cat. And Sasha why are you being so quiet?"
"I don't know." Sasha answered. "Something feels off about this guy." Sasha said scrutinising Jake with her eyes.
"Come on Sasha. Can you not do that now please?" Cat asked rolling her eyes.
"Okay, if you say so. I'm Sasha." Stretching her hand out, she shook Jake's hand.
"Jake."
"So," Nikki said, "how was your first kiss with Cat?" she asked Jake.
"Nikki please. That's not your business."
"Why not Cat?" Nikki asked pouting a little. "I wanna know how you guys first kiss was. You have had your first kiss right?"
"Yes but like I said it's not your business."
"Be quiet Cat, why not let Jake talk." Sasha said.
"Yes Cat be quiet." Nikki said. "Jake tell us, how was your first kiss with Cat?"
"Well," Jake said looking at Cat, "I really don't know what to tell you Nikki."
"Just tell me, was it nice, was it rough or sloppy? Because she might be out of practice."
"You know what Nikki, your questions are ridiculous. I'll see you guys later. Come on Jake." Cat said walking off.
"Sorry, it was nice meeting you guys." Jake said to Nikki and Sasha and followed Cat.
"That went well." Sasha said watching Jake and Cat walking away.
"I like him. He's kinda cute." Nikki said.
Going to a corner of the hall, Cat finally stopped walking and Jake had caught up to her.
"I think that was a little bit too much." Jake said as he turned her to face him and pulled her closer with his hands on her waist.
"Really? How?" Cat asked.
"I think Nikki was just being nice. Her questions might have been kind of ridiculous, I admit, but you didn't have to walk away from your friends like that."
"Alright, if you think so I might apologise."
"You might?" Jake asked raising his eyebrow at her.
"Fine I'll apologise."
"Good." Jake said then leaned down to kiss her.
"Come on guys get a room." Nikki said from behind Jake.
"Hey Nikki, sorry about how I reacted earlier." Cat apologised.
"It's okay Cat. I was asking stupid questions, so it's cool."
"No hard feelings?" Cat asked.
"No hard feelings. I gat you."
"Awwww." Jake said. "This is sweet and all but I think the vehicle that's going to take us wherever we're going has arrived."
"Why do you think so?" Cat asked.
"Because I can see people looking through the windows at something and Miss Summer is getting on the podium again."
"Can I have your attention students?" Summer spoke into the microphone.
Turning their heads and attention to Summer on the podium, the students kept quiet to hear every word she was going to say.
"The vehicle taking you all to the facility has arrived so please make your way to the vehicle outside the building in a straight and single line. When you get to the vehicle, a roll call is going to be done to ensure you are all present."
Exiting the building, the students were all very excited to be close to obtaining their magical abilities.
