"Rohan what are you doing!" Agnes exclaims at Rohan.
"The bandit leader is very strong, you will die."
Rohan looks at Agnes and says "I know uncle, please don't worry I will be okay."
Agnes tries to say something but Rohan starts walking towards Colton.
"Are you the bandit leader, did you kill my father?" even though his voice was full of anger, he was completely calm on the inside. Even he doesn't know how he could be so calm even in this situation.
"Yes, I did, what you want to avenge your father you twerp, come fight me" Colton taunts.
"Hmm so you did, huh, I think we should not fight anymore" says Rohan.
. . .
. . .
For a few seconds the entire place becomes quiet. The villagers and the bandits suddenly lost their processing power.
'What the heck. Didn't you just challenge him for a fight, what happened now?'
The bandit leader finally snaps back.
"You afraid now kid, it's too late to regret now."
With that he makes his way towards Rohan on his horse.
The bandits leave space and make a circle with bandit leader and Rohan in the middle.
Waiting for the bandit leader to kill the twerp.
"No, I really think we should not fight anymore aren't you going to ask why?"
"I don't give a damn what you think twerp, today you are going to die by my hands."
'Umm did I make a mistake?' Rohan thought it would be easy to manipulate the bandit leader given how awesome his abilities are.
"So, the great bandit leader is afraid of me huh?" Rohan taunts the bandit leader.
"What did you say?" the bandit leader clearly took it to heart.
"I mean you are not even willing to let me speak. You are clearly afraid I will defeat you as I grow up, so you want to kill me right now."
. . .
"Twerp are you mentally ill?"
. . .
"What?"
"Do you want me to make a promise to duel you at a later date so that you can become strong and come to take my head?"
"Eh! . . ."
"That's clearly not happening dumbass" with that Colton jumps off the horse and slashes his sword at Rohan.
Rohan hurriedly avoids the sword, but before he could do anything the bandit leader kicks him in the stomach. Rohan falls on the ground and Colton raises his sword to attack but,
"I know of a place with treasure trove." Rohan shouts as hurriedly as possible.
. . .
"What?"
"Yes, that's what I have been trying to say, but you didn't let me" Rohan says as he tries to get up.
"Why should I trust your words?" Colton wasn't stupid, but,
'He, he, got you dumbass' this was under Rohan's expectation
"Because I am Harry's son"
. . . ?
"Come on, do you think son of such a good man will lie, it is very unlikely isn't it"
"You are correct but…" for some reason Colton thought it makes sense.
"And, also would you let go of such a fortune just to kill me? I mean you can also kill me after taking the treasure, right?"
"Hmm, that makes sense, you are right. Tell me where the treasure is" Colton asks his voice full of greed.
He, along with everyone who listened to Rohan thought that his words make sense. But nobody thought why Rohan would give the treasure to his enemies or why would they start talking about treasure out of nowhere, and how could there be a treasure in such a rundown place?
"Don't worry I will take you to the treasure trove right now. But you have to make a promise that you won't do anything to the villagers or me before you get the treasure. "
"Okay I promise." Colton says without hesitation.
'Like hell I will keep the promise' is what he thought.
And that makes sense as well, right? Why would a bandit keep his promise, they are not some noble characters who would do as they say.
But,
'And that… is how I defeated the bandit leader' is what was going on in Rohan's mind.
"What are you waiting for then, take me to the treasure trove." Colton demands.
"Yes of course, let us go right now" Rohan says as he starts walking out of the village.
"Rohan…" Agnes tries to say something but Rohan interrupts him
"Uncle Agnes please take care of the village before I return."
"…Umm sure"
As he looks at Rohan calmly leading the bandits out of the village he thinks
"This kid has changed so much."
The Rohan that Agnes knew was a timid young man. He was so afraid to go out that his father had to buy a piece of land so that he could farm and avoid going into the forest for cutting woods. But now he would actively talk to the villagers, and would not show any cowardice even in front of the bandits.
"I guess a father's demise can change the son so much, it makes sense now that I think about it."
