After witnessing the wasps disappear, Rohan rested near the hole for a while.
"Huuu, I hope the wasps got all of them," he muttered to himself. Rohan began walking out of the forest, contemplating whether he should wait a little longer. He was afraid of encountering the wasps on the way, but he didn't know any alternative paths out of the forest. Ultimately, he decided to wait for a few more minutes.
Two… hours… later… [A.N: I always wanted to do this 😊]
"Oh god I fell asleep." He realized. Relief washed over him as he thanked his luck for still being alive. If it weren't for the fact that he was in a beast-free zone, he might have perished already.
"I guess I should start heading back to the village now,"
He starts running out of the village.
By the time he emerged from the forest, the sun was already setting. On his way to the village, he noticed blood stains, which made him worried.
"Did the bandits make it out alive? Oh no!" Rohan panicked and sprinted toward the village. As he reached the village, he found that it appeared peaceful, but all the villagers had gathered around Agnes' hut.
"What happened here?"
He moves towards Agnes' hut and makes his way through the crowd.
As he finally gets through the crowd, he hears Susan's muttering
"…he… he sacrificed himself to protect the village!"
"Umm… who sacrificed himself?"
. . .
Susan turns around to see Rohan looking at her with an innocent look.
"Um aunt Susan, did someone die?"
"You are alive" Susan shouts loudly and hugs Rohan.
All the villagers start gawking at Rohan.
"He is alive, good kid, he had me worried."
"Yes, to think he bested the bandits."
"But of course, what would you expect from Harry's son."
The villagers become very happy as they find Rohan safe and sound.
Rohan's eye finally lands on Colton who was looking at him as if he was looking at a ghost.
"You… you…"
"Slap…"
Rohan slapped the bandit leader who was unable to defend himself.
"You bastard who did you kill this time? I will kill you."
Rohan who misinterpreted Susan's word thought someone sacrificed himself while protecting the village, became very angry at the bandit.
"Slap, slap, slap"
"You bastard…"
Rohan continues to hit Colton before someone grabs his shoulder from behind and pulls him into a tight embrace.
"No one died Rohan. You saved the village from the bandits. Everyone was saved thanks to you."
Rohan finally calms down as he hears Betty's word.
He looks at Susan and asks "No one died…?"
"No, no one died, Susan smiled at him as tears welled up in her eyes."
"Oh, then it's all good." Rohan finally heaves a sigh but,
"Slap…"
"Urgh…"
"You dare say it's all good, you idiot you almost got yourself killed. What would I have answered to your father in heaven if you got yourself killed?"
Rohan was at a loss of word after he gets a tight slap from Agnes.
Thankfully there was Betty to handle Agnes.
"Why are you hitting just after he survived such a dangerous ordeal? Do you have no heart?"
She starts berating Agnes.
Rohan thought he finally escaped from a scolding but,
"And you, Rohan, why would you pull such a stunt! Is this how you handle bandits? Do you not know how dangerous the flesh-eating wasps are? What was going in that head of yours?"
…
"Umm…"
Rohan had no choice but to listen her lecture.
"Ah Betty…"
"What?"
"I think you should let him rest now. He just survived a dangerous ordeal after all." Agnes pleads on behalf of Rohan.
…
Betty finally looks at Rohan and puts her palm on his face, her voice breaks as she says "Don't ever do that again. Okay." Her eyes had tears in them.
Rohan holds her hand lightly as he reassures her "I won't."
"Now, what do we do with these bastards." Agnes asks Rohan as he points at the bandits.
Rohan looks at the villagers who were looking at the bandits full of hatred. But those eyes had no killing intent. Even though the villagers were harassed by the bandits, they still could not bring themselves to kill the bandits.
I guess they are idiots but, somehow, I feel it's beautiful. The way they are.
Of course, not all of them were like that.
"I say we kill all of them."
'He is still the best here…' Rohan thinks as he looks at Agnes who continues.
"We can't let these scums live. They have already killed many people in other villages. We should kill all of them."
Rohan nods and picks up one of the bandits' swords that the villagers had brought with them.
He looks into Colton's eyes and says calmly "When you killed my father, did you think you would die this way?"
When Colton, the mercenary leader turned bandit leader looks into those deep blue eyes he was sure of one thing. 'So, this is how I die'
"Slash…"
Rohan stabs the sword into Colton's chest and lets it rest there. Blood starts dripping from the edge of the blade that had come out on the other side of Colton's body as his head hangs down, his eyes lifeless.
'Haah, I guess I fulfilled the final wish of the original owner of this body. You can rest in peace now buddy.'
Rohan finally heaves a sigh as he was sure of Colton's death.
. . .
"Thump thump..."
"What... What's going on..." Rohan suddenly felt as if all the energy in his body left him.
"Un... Uncle Agnes, could you handle the other bandits?" Rohan asked Agnes as his hands suddenly start shivering.
"Thump thump..."
Agnes saw Rohan looked too exhausted so he agreed. "Yes, you go and rest."
Rohan nods and makes his way towards his hut.
"Thump thump..."
Rohan felt something wrong "I need some r..."
Thud...
Rohan fell to the ground as he lost his consciousness.
