With her head bowed, Precious waited patiently to hear something positive from Veronica. She hoped to hear Veronica tell her that she accepted her apology, but like Veronica, she didn't say a word.
Veronica looked down at Precious emotionlessly, waiting for the little human to lift her head and face her. Precious, however, remained in that position until she felt it was the time to stand straight. Precious feared that she might face severe consequences the moment she looked at Veronica, but when she stole a glance at her, Veronica didn't seem to be angry.
"I'm sorry, my lady. I desperately wanted to cook and thought that if I brought it up with you, I might get the opportunity to enter the kitchen. I'm sorry for trying to…use you," Precious tried to apologize with the true reason for her question, but Veronica remained silent.
