Chereads / Maid To Bea / Chapter 13 - 13

Chapter 13 - 13

The figures of Tyler and Logan appeared in the living room, backpacks hung on their shoulders, both engaged in a conversation.

Ashley who was proceeding down the stairs, paid no attention to anyone, just typing away on the phone in her hands.

She stepped out of the house not quite long after, while Tyler and Logan still remained back in the living room, chattering to each other.

Cameron joined them in a short while, Savannah walking by his side.

I pretended to be busy with the furnitures, dusting, just as they walked into the living room.

"Now I know where those noises I heard last night were coming from" Tyler flashed a grin at his brother, eyes accessing the figure of Savannah.

"She slept here? Wait till mom and dad find out." He added with a smirk on his face.

All of his words seemed not to have any effect whatsoever on Cameron, as that prude ignored him, turning to Savannah.

"Did you guys use protection?" Logan joked, laughing and bumping fists with Tyler.

"You both know you're getting into my car. One more word, and you'll have to walk to school." Cameron uttered to the two, eyes giving them a stern warning.

Just yes, he was back to his usual self, tough, blunt and not to forget--a prude.

Are you this grumpy all because of the thoughts of last night? My subconscious jeered.

Oh, who was I kidding? The events of last night got me wanting to throw all faults on anyone.

"Relax, okay? We were only joking" Logan uttered to Cameron, another grin appearing on his lips.

Cameron yet again, ignored the teasing and utterances of his brothers, moving towards the door, Savannah's hands locked in his.

By now he must be accustomed to their goofy sides and endless teases.

Despite all that came with this family, there were a few things I had taken into notice since my arrival here.

One, how each sibling was always down the throat of the other and then in a minute all brawls would have been settled.

Well, to be fair, it was always Cameron having a row with the rest... The guy seemed not to have a chill side to him, huh?

My eyes traced his movements as he approached the door, and right as he was about pulling the handle, his gaze shifted to where I was, taking notice of my presence.

I could feel him staring, I could see him from the corner of my eyes.

Looking up at him at once, and our eyes met.

Both our gazes fixed on each other, his, peering intently at my figure, whatever could be going on in his mind?

He peered at my profile for just a couple seconds, and then he looked away, walking out the house.

***

I was done cleaning all the rooms, except one.

Cameron's.

I remember him telling me not to ever enter his room, but the instructions from Miss Tara, informed me to act otherwise.

She gave an order for me to have  every room cleaned, not skipping one. And seeing as to how, the lady was the one whom I would be receiving my paycheck from, I just couldn't disobey her words now, could I?

Still, I remained confused, not knowing what to do.

If Ms Tara was to ever find out that I skipped Cameron's room, she would be furious.

Deciding to do just what I thought was right, I hurried into the room, eyes taking in the mess laid at each corner. Of all the rooms, his, just had to be marvelling.

Yes, I had to battle with cleaning whenever I was between these walls. How great is that?

Not wasting any more time, I packed the clothes laid on the floor, throwing them into a basket.

And just at that moment, the door tore open, the figure of Cameron walking in, taking me unawares.

His eyes were fixed on his phone for just a second, and right when he looked up, he finally noticed my presence.

I gulped nervously at his stares, turning my eyes away pretending not to see him.

He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. I saw him hesitate for a while, and finally he spoke.

"What part of 'Do not enter my room' don't you understand?" He asked, grabbing the duster roughly from my shaking hands.

"I was instructed to clean your room. I had no choice." I spoke immediately.

"This is my room, and I'm pretty sure I made it clear that I do not want you in here." He said in a slightly raised voice.

"Just so you know, I never wanted to come into your room. I had to do it." I retorted.

"And yelling doesn't make you seem tough. It only portrays you as a joke." I added.

He stared blankly at me, eyes locked in mine.

Definitely surprised I could speak to him in such manner.

He took a step closer to my figure, my feet already turning weak at his approach.

Forcing myself to look up at him, just as he stopped right in front of me.

"Yes, You heard me right." I uttered, my words firm, trying to make sure he got everything I said.

Trust me when I say this, I was weak to the bones, but I held my ground, eyes not for once faltering while peering into his gaze.

And at that very moment, Savannah decided to walk in.

Oh how much, I felt like wrapping her into a hug.

I was more that grateful for her entrance, relieving me of the discomfort that lingered in the corners of the room.

Her presence lifted the tension.

Her eyes stared at Cameron and I, stood close to each other, bodies inches apart.

"What's going on?" She questioned in a tone that I seemed not to comprehend.

Was she jealous?

There would be no need for that, seeing as to how her boyfriend here hates me more than she could ever imagine.

"She was just leaving." I heard him mutter under his breath, eyes staring at me with intent.

He was pissed.

I grabbed my broom and duster,  walking out immediately, not even bothering to look at Savannah.

Third person POV...

"Why was she here?" Savannah threw the question at Cameron the moment Nia took a step outside.

"She was cleaning the room" He gave a response without turning to look at her.

"What do you mean by she was cleaning the room?" Savannah folded her arms across her chest, gaze focused intently on the figure of her boyfriend.

"I saw you guys when I walked in. It didn't look like she was cleaning to me"

"You were too close to each other. I saw the way you gazed into each other's eyes" she added

"You're seeing things, Savannah. Nothing was going on. She was JUST cleaning my room" Cameron was forced to speak.

"what is it about this girl?" At this point, her voice got louder with every word she pronounced.

"Why is she always around us whenever I come to visit?"

"Why is she....

Cameron turned to look at her, hearing the pain in her voice.

He moved over to her figure, his fingers propping her chin up, and right then, he planted a kiss on her lips.

He pulled back, staring into her eyes, his hands holding her warmly.

"There's nothing going on"

"She was only here to clean my room. That's all" He muttered quietly, pulling her closer to him.

Staring into his eyes, Savannah wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him and forgetting all that troubled her.
