Chereads / Maid To Bea / Chapter 17 - 17

Chapter 17 - 17

We arrived at my apartment not long after leaving the mansion, the silence we began the journey with, still ensuing amongst us.

Just how impossible was he?

The question lingered in my heart while I stole a glance at his profile.

Grabbing the keys from the back pocket of my pants, I unlocked the door at once, its hinges creaking a little, just as my fingers pushed open the doorway.

I noted the absence of mom, which meant she either went grocery shopping, or was out visiting her therapist.

After the surgery, the doctor had advised her to pay a visit to the therapist twice a week so as to improve on her health.

My mother never for once liked laying her troubles to anyone, certainly not a therapist, but after the surgery, all of that seemed to change.

Cameron walked in slowly after me, his eyes surveying the living room.

"Nice apartment" I heard him say, meanwhile, his eyes peered intently into mine.

I could tell he was only mocking me.

This house was nothing compared to his.

His bedroom alone, was twice the size of my living room. Who was he kidding?

Biting down on my lower lip, noticing the stares he gave me, which made me uncomfortable, even in my own comfort zone.

Just how did he manage to do that? I thought, while staring on at his figure.

"I'll be in my bedroom"

"If you need anything, just call for me" I uttered to him immediately, trying to get away from the silence.

"You can sit on the couch" I added.

He gave a slight nod at me, moving over to take a sit on the chair at a far corner, while I turned around proceeding to my bedroom.

Snatching the shoes off my feet the instant I got to my room, I fell back on my bed, gaze fixed on the ceiling, wondering whatever was going on in the living room.

***

I think I took a nap right after falling on my bed, cause I couldn't remember what happened afterwards.

Voices coming from the living room got me jolting, and next followed a laughter.

Getting off the bed at once, I hurried to the living room,

wondering whose voice that was.

The figure of Cameron came into view instantly. I totally forgot I had brought him home with me.

My mother was right next to him, a smile on her lips while they both conversed.

For a moment, I think I noticed a smile on Cameron's face.

Mom soon turned her gaze to me, noticing my figure walk in.

"Nia" She called at once, voice filled with much energy.

"How are you?" She questioned, with the smile still on her face.

Cameron raised his gaze towards me the instant my name was pronounced.

Soon turning his gaze away, he had on the same blank expression he bore always.

What is wrong with him? Even after helping him out, he still hates me.

"You didn't tell me you were bringing your boyfriend home".

At my mom's sudden utterance, I began coughing, my chest gasping tightening at once.

I had my eyes on Cameron, whose expression remained blank.

He wasn't even looking my way, and he seemed not to care about what mom just said.

"Are you okay?" Mom questioned immediately, concern evident in her voice, while I hurried to the kitchen to have a glass of water.

In a second, I had downed the drink, washing my face and then going back to the living room.

"Mom!" I called out to her, eyes fixed on we figure.

"What's wrong?" She questioned innocently.

"Isn't he your boyfriend?" She asked.

"No!" I uttered aloud, voice booming in the room

"We're just.... There was a fall in my tone, words caught in my throat as I turned my gaze over to his figure.

Could I even consider him being a friend to me? What then would I tell my mom?

"I work where he lives" I finally spoke.

"The mansion you told me about."

Why did she have to say that?

My head bopped up and down at her words, a weak smile crossing my lips.

"Besides, he has a girlfriend" I made sure to say.

Cameron turned at once to look at me, gaze locking in mine.

"He's a nice young man." Mom began, her voice filled with much warmth.

Only if she knew the things he was capable of. He wasn't nice. Not at all.

"He was just telling me of your clumsy self"

She gave a low laugh, much delight filling her eyes.

Now, why was she laughing?

It didn't turn out funny to me.

"Have you offered him something to take?" She questioned.

"I'm fine" Cameron spoke right before I had the chance to.

"Okay then, please make yourself comfortable" Mom muttered to him, right before leaving the living room.

As soon as she took her leave, I left the living room also. I just couldn't stay there with him.

Why on earth would he tell my mom that I was clumsy.

Who knows whatever tales he had foretold.

Stepping into my room, I tore the clothing off my body, clad in just my briefs.

Laying back on my bed, I grabbed a novel from my drawer, eyes scanning through its leaves.

The door to my room pushed open, and my first thought was that it would be mom, probably demanding my presence in the kitchen.

"Did you go grocery shopping?" I muttered in a low voice, the book held in my hands shielding her figure from my view.

"By the way, how was the therapy?"

"I don't think yellow panties suit you" A voice spoke.

My hands fell numb, body falling stiff as I recognized at once who the voice belonged to.

Quickly grabbing a towel from my bedside, I made sure to cover myself up immediately, while he just remained standing by the door watching my figure.

"What are you doing in here?" I half-yelled, the look of shock crossing my face.

"Your mom said to make myself comfortable"

"That's exactly what I'm doing" He told in a low voice.

"You have to leave now" I said to him immediately.

"Well I'm not" Followed his response.

What the hell was wrong with him?

He shut the door behind him, taking few steps over to my bedside.

I backed away while his figure inched closer.

Meanwhile, he stared on at me, brows furrowing, eyes watching in confusion.

"I'm not gonna do anything to you" His words were low, eyes staring blankly at me "You're not my type anyway" He called under his breath.

My gaze shifted at once, slight pain stinging at the corners of my heart.

I had no idea why his utterance hurt me, but it did.

He grabbed a hold of something from my drawer, his eyes peering at it, and then turning to my figure.

"These would look great on you". He uttered with a smirk growing on his lips.

Turning my gaze to whatever was held in his hands, my lips parted open, eyes broadening, as I saw him holding up my red panties.

"Hey! Give it back!"I hurried over to where he stood, reaching to snatch it from his hold, but just as I drew closer to his figure, he raised his hands higher into the air, preventing me from reaching them.

"Give that back" I yelled, voice filling the room.

He just stood there with his right hand raised high in the air, while he smirked on at me.

Being so close to him, I finally took notice of his eyes--Blue.

So beautiful, it was hard taking my eyes off for just a second.

Still struggling to get my underwear from his grip, yet I couldn't.

Right as I took a leap up trying to snatch it from him, the knot of my towel loosened.

Down it dropped, revealing much more than I was already embarrassed for.

A sharp gasp escaped my lips the instant it came off, leaving me in my yellow underwear.

He actually was right, yellow underwear didn't suit me.

But should that be your concern right now, Nia?

Why should I even care what he thinks?

I could feel my cheeks flushing at his burning stares, heat already surging through my body.

Wrapping my hands at once around my figure, trying so hard to cover up what was already seen, he cleared his throat, turning his gaze away from me.

And just then, mom walked in.

Could this day get any worse?

She stared at the both of us, bodies stood so close to each other, with my red panties held in his hands, while I remained standing in front of him in just my underwear.

"Am I interrupting anything?" She spoke, eyes accessing both our figures.

"No" I called at once, my voice sharp in tone.

"I was just leaving" I heard him finally say.

He dropped the panties on my bed at once, moving over to the figure of my mom.

"Thanks for the hospitality. I should leave now" He spoke to her.

She gave a nod at him, eyes lingering on his figure, while he walked out.

He didn't even spare a glance at me. What was I expecting?

Mom turned to me the moment he stepped out, her brows slightly raised.

"I swear nothing was happening" I uttered at once, already catching on to the expression plastered on her face.

She stared blankly at me, like she didn't believe a word of what I said.

"I'm telling you the truth" I uttered aloud.

"If you say so" She sighed.

"Nia" She called in a low voice, gaze still watching me.

"I don't want you engaging in inappropriate things at your age" She called in a weak voice, right before stepping out of the room, leaving me to drown in my thoughts.
