When the Young Avengers reported back to the lab the following morning, Fury was there to greet them. After the obligatory formalities, he ushered them into the room marked main testing floor, one of the areas they had not visited during their tour.
"Ladies, gentlemen, and Synthezoid, allow jume to introduce you to Cavalier." Fury punched a few buttons on a remote control unit and the entire lab began quaking. Suddenly, a huge hulking robot emerges from a bank of machinery. "Cavalier was designed from Sentinel designs to fill two major roles: first of all, it's supposed to function as infantry support. Instead of calling for a tank, the men can call for a Cavalier. The unit itself requires no human crew to pilot or instruction once activated, and its weaponry is superior to any tank in the world's arsenals.
"Cavalier's 2ndary function is to provide local law-enforcement with a low-risk weapon, which is also usable against a typical superpowered menace. The robot can engage in special security programs to prevent it from harming innocent bystanders, and unnecessarily destroying property.
"We are going to stage some mock combat between you and the robot to test its effectiveness in combat. All the robots weapon systems have been set to non-lethal. I have to warn you though, Cavalier Is good. Dont let up; give the robot everything you've got.
"Now, any questions?"
The Cavalier's armored hull gave remarkable protection against energy and force. It had amazing resistance to heat, cold, and radiation. Located on Cavalier's upper hull were two linked laser cannons which fired in tandem. The hull itself was protected by an electrical field. The large tri-pedal tracking pads at the end of the robot's legs were designed to clamp into the ground for greater stability.

When the Young Avengers initiated combat with the Cavalier, Iron Lad first disabled one of the cannons with a quick blast from his head-mounted repulse cannon. However, despite being linked, the other cannon continued to fore stunning laser beams at them with excellent accuracy. The cannons were connected to a special computer tracking mechanism which hones in on a specific target being the greatest threat. Its analyzed threat was Vision, who instinctively shifted his matter into a phase so the lazers went through him without affecting him. Stature increased in size up to a height of 32 feet, and almost equal to that of the Cavalier. Once she achieved her size, Patriot threw his shield up to her and she began slamming it down onto the Cavalier. Hawkeye was aiding Iron Lad in his barrage of projectiles at the hull of the robot. Hulkling began to shapeshift one of his arms into a massive hammer to strike one of the robots leg, with Wiccan using his magic to place a force shield around Hulkling's transmogrified arm. Fury was the only other person present in the room with the Young Avengers and the Cavalier, who fervently scrawled notes on the combat while avoiding the fray.
Suddenly, six men in lab coats appeared on the test floor. These men seemingly panicked when they saw the Young Avengers engaged in combat with the Cavalier, and drew weapons. With their submachine guns, the men unleashed fire upon the Young Avengers and Fury. The Cavalier also continued to attack the Young Avengers, as they were the only targets programmed as "enemies". When Fury entered the fray with his relic sidearm, he accidentally dropped the robots control box in the corner of the lab.
Iron Lad propelled across the lab towards the discarded remote, and once he had it started to try to comprehend the robots controls and program it to target the assailants.
Patriot, Hawkeye, and Fury focused solely on the men with guns. The enlarged Stature and Hulkling had bludgeoned an outer panel of the Cavalier system off of the hull, revealing a loose bundle of wires that the electrical field didnt cover. Vision then phased into this with his arm and proceeded to lower the Robots electrical field and force its legs to lock into a fixed position.
Wiccan began to focus on the new threats and place a magical shield around the nearest Young Avengers to deflect the enemy bullets.
Within moments a squadron of base security barged into the room, and the remaining intruders forfeited the fight and surrendered as prisoners. Fury suggested searching the intruders, and along with the vintage year of their German Schmeisser submachine guns, under their lab coats they wore jet black uniforms. Located on the right side of the collar on each of these uniforms was a badge emblazoned with a mysterious blue skull and crossbones, the insignia of the nazi Blautot commando unit. Other than their weaponry and clothing, which anyone could recognize as dated back to world war 2, the commandos only had one other possession. A micro-scanner tool. The scanner was marked with the base insignia and obviously came from one of the labs within the complex.
"Do you recognize their badges?" Vision asked Fury.
"No, I have no idea where these guys are from." Fury replied.
Once the commandos were subdued, base security took them away to the brig, located directly adjacent to the security office. Just before the soldiers were taken away, Casey, Krupptman, Cooper, and just about everyone else in the base showed up to investigate for themselves what had happened.
"Vision, I want you and your Young Avengers to lead the official investigation on this break-in. I'm going to head to my office to touch base with Maria Hill in Central HQ. Vision, besides Krupptman, you are the only other person old enough to remember World War 2, and because of that I trust you unerringly." Fury proclaimed.
