Chereads / Vampire: Tales from the King / Chapter 44 - The Great King’s attraction

Chapter 44 - The Great King’s attraction

Michael and the Blutheim team finally reached the helicopter and made their way towards Antarctica without any trouble. Nearly 24 hours of flight until they had finally arrived at the drop off.

"Helloooo." He said loudly. "Any further than this then we'll enter into multiple government restricted airspaces." The pilot said as the helicopter stopped.

"Did you hear him? This as far as we can go, everything is up to you from here." Michael said as if he just woke up.

"This is good enough. Thanks." Kyle said as his face was pressed up against the window, trying to get a good look at the snowy ground.

"There's coats in the cockpit, you already know where the parachutes are." Michael said as he was already in a coat.

Although they didn't need it as much, they threw on their coats and then the parachutes. With the door open, the temperature inside of the chopper lowered quickly so Michael didn't even bother to get up but he waved to them as they jumped out. He only stood up to close the door.

Smelling the air as he dived, he felt something tickling his brain. "Can you feel that?" Kyle said as his eyes locked on to the center of Antarctica.

"Yeah it's trying to pull me closer." Melissa said as she stared at the center.

"This is the Great King's attraction. Any vampire who is looking for Blutheim, will find it because of the presence of the Great King." Drey explained.

"Pull out, your chutes." Kyle said as his parachute opened. "How do you know that?" He asked right after.

"It's a part of history." Drey said as he would've shrugged his arms if it weren't for him having to open up his parachute.

"The Great King was attractive but I didn't know he was like this." Melissa said as she squinted her eyes. "I almost didn't notice because of the snow there's a research site near the attraction." She said as she tasted the snow flying in her mouth.

"That's the HPA. We're gonna sneak past them. Land on this hill." Kyle said as he cut his parachute.

The Great King's attraction was coming from inside of the research facility. It was a large dome, made of metal and silicone sheets, lights were moving all over the perimeter. And there were HPA agents patrolling the grounds constantly.

"He's insane, from this height?" Drey said as he could barely see the ground.

"Don't be scared now." Melissa said as she cut her parachute, and looked at him with a mocking smile.

"Scared?" Drey said as he reluctantly cut his parachutes and started diving.

They landed on a mountain just over a mile away from the research site. Kyle barrel rolled as he touched the ground, while Melissa landed on her arse as if the snow was a bed. Drey practically panicked as he never free fell from such a height, crash landing in a pile of snow just a few feet away from his group.

"Shit. What the hell is wrong with you?" Drey said as he seemed to be in armor of snow.

"What do you mean?" Kyle asked almost cluelessly.

"You know a lot of stuff about Blutheim that you didn't know before, where did you learn this from?" Melissa asked as she continued to sit comfortably on the snow.

"No, not that." Drey said as he wiped snow off his pants.

"I guess now is a good time, no one can hear us here." Kyle said as he started walking towards the research site.

"You're keeping secrets from the ANM?" Melissa said in a fascinated tone as she stood up.

"Nah, I just didn't share most of what I know with them. I didn't see the meaning since they weren't coming with us." Kyle said as he slid down the mountain. He continued once they slid down as well. "My mother is a vampire that came from Blutheim with her two servants. They told me about most of the stuff I know, the rest came from the Great King." He kept it short.

"…" They both kept quiet in surprise as they slowly walked behind him.

"Your mother?" Melissa questioned, although she was speechless.

"So that means you're a half vampire, I always wondered who turned you but you never mentioned having any master." Drey said as he scratched his head.

"No, I'm not half. I'm a full vampire, all of my human cells were devoured or combined. I'm not entirely sure but there is no human cell in me." Kyle said as he rubbed his arms.

"So your dad is human?" Melissa asked.

"…. Yes, unfortunately." Kyle said as he dropped his arms. "Let's go, it shouldn't take that long for us to get there." He sped up his walking.

"Looks like we pressed one of his nerves." Drey whispered with a small smirk.

"I can see that, dumbass." Melissa said almost as she saw something moving in the snow ahead of Kyle. "Did you see that?"

"It's a penguin." Kyle muttered low enough so they could barely hear him.

A small waddle of penguins suddenly stood up and started running. They seemed to be separated but Kyle didn't pay much mind to them and resumed his pace towards the research site.

Just about half an hour passed, and they finally made it to the research site. Being able to thermally blend in with the environment helped them get close without drawing any attention.

The site was being guarded and patrolled tightly by HPA members, you could tell they were trying to protect something.

"Take as much blood as you can here, we're heading straight to Queen Aria when we get past them." Kyle said as he hid near the entrance of the site. "Keep in mind this is the last time we're taking blood from living beings. Even if we kill them." He finished as he took his coat off.

"They have armored suits made to fight against us and silver weapons. Be careful-" Drey said before Kyle suddenly ran into the site.

"What-?" Melissa said before she heard an order. "Meet me at the center." They heard Kyle's excited voice in his head.

"Our blood pouches are empty, we need to refill them but the HPA fights like a pack of wolves. Once one pack is dead, another appears so we need to divide their attention." Kyle said as he ran full speed through multiple guards.

There were three ways to go each leading to different areas of the dome but Kyle went straight ahead into the first. The areas were split by thick silicone sheets.

"What the hell, where did you go?" HPA agent1 said as one of his partners disappeared.

*Riiiip* *Crunch*

"There's a Vampire!" HPA agent2 said as he grabbed a gun.

"Where?!" HPA agent1 said as he pulled his gun out and turned around.

*Thud* Kyle stood up and licked his lips, his eyes glowing red. Nearly making the agents fall in a trance.

"Pull your goggles down!" HPA agent3 said as he tried to shoot Kyle. "I lost it!" He finished before something blunt hit his chest sending him flying into the wall.

Kyle was standing where that agent once was, every agent in the area had their guns trained on him. "What are you waiting for… shoot him!" One of the agents shouted.

Kyle was quick on his feet, faster than they thought he was. By the time they pulled the trigger, he got close to one of the agents and pushed their barrel down before crushing their throat with a punch.

*weezing* The agent squirming on the floor, Kyle looked away from them until he realized that all of the agents were aiming at him.

Now that he was standing next to the wall with no other agents close to him, it was easier for them to concentrate their fire on him. Almost reflexively he picked up the suffocating agent's body and use him as a shield making most of them hesitant to shoot.

They granted him a second, hoping to steel themselves but Kyle stole that second and pushed forward, immediately attacking the first agent he could rush. Feeling something blocked his punch as he hit her chest, it only sent her flying into the other HPA agents.

"I didn't take out much but still I thought I'd put a little dent." As he dodged one of the agents trying to cut him with a silver knife. "This is a lot, we should've just gone in together. I just wanted a little revenge but I pushed it at this point." He thought as he deflected another attack and kicked them away.

*Boom* Suddenly a round shadow appeared on the silicone wall to the right. Then another sound much more vague came from the wall.

Then a silver ball, nearly the same size as a mini boulder tore the silicone wall and flew towards. He dodged it by ducking, and allowed it to his the other agents who weren't expecting it.

As he stood back up, he saw Drey fighting one of the HPA juggernauts. He ducked again as one of the agents tried to swing at him from behind with a silver machete.

He quickly got back up and hit him in his temple but he didn't use as much strength as he did earlier, he only used enough to knock the agent out. "I don't need all of their blood. Just a few of them, maybe even less." Kyle said before he barely dodged another attack, getting a piece of his skin nicked.

Just as he felt the sting of sharp silver blade, it was almost as if something snapped and he grabbed the agents arm before it could recoil. *Crack*

"AAGHH!!" His screams of pain, screeched in Kyle's ears. Writhing in pain and squirming, it made Kyle shudder.

"Damn it. I didn't mean to do that…. Shit." Kyle thought as he flinched. "I can't even help him…. I have to-" he didn't realize until it was too late but a large shadow appeared from behind him, and charged into him.

Pushing him off his feet and into Drey's area. "Hey!" Drey said as saw another juggernaut rushing Kyle, as he was still sliding across the floor.

*Tssss* "What the hell?" Drey said as he saw the agent stand up, no longer writhing in pain or even screaming.

Drey dealt with the juggernaut he was fighting already and pushed towards Kyle but he already recovered and stood up again. Immediately rushing the juggernaut…. Is what he thought but Kyle slid right under his legs like a pitcher sliding to base.

The agent who stood up was wobbling as if he was on the verge of sleeping. Kyle grabbed his head and saw the neck gear squeezing the agent's throat. He ripped it off and sunk his teeth into his neck. Everyone in the 2 areas watched in awe? Fear? It seems to be an odd mix as they saw the agent's hand deflate like a balloon.

"What a bunch of monsters. I didn't think it was true but I guess the memories don't lie. The anti-vampire gear injects a type anesthetic that numbs any pain and forces them to fight." Kyle thought as he let the agent drop to the ground.

The juggernaut was standing besides Kyke trying to attack him, but Drey stopped his arm just as it was only a few inches away from his head and flipped the agent on their back.

"I'm here." Melissa's voice suddenly appeared in their heads.

They looked at the agents standing before. Well over a dozen, their numbers didn't seem to dwindle in the slightest. It was the opposite in fact, they seem to be increasing.

"There's a lot of them. What should we do?" Drey said as he seemed more than ready to fight them.

"Let's go." Kyle said as he started running full speed towards the attraction.

"Of course." Frey said as he followed behind them.

They were being chased by nearly every HPA agent in the site, running full speed through what seemed to be a maze.

"Let's go this way." Drey stopped in between areas, staring at a wall.

"It's a wall." Kyle said as he stopped and started running in place.

"Not just any wall, It's silicone." Drey said as he tore the wall down. "Instead of running around the attraction, let's go straight to it."

"Ooh~ Smart." He said in relief as they started running through the torn down wall.

They continued to break through until they reached a large hole, with purplish light shining from it. Melissa was sitting just a few inches away from the hole. The hole was half the size of the dorm, reaching nearly

"Do you see this shit?" Melissa said in a bewildered tone as she noticed that they finally made it.

"Yeah…. What the hell is this?" Drey said as he looked at Kyle.

"It's the entrance of course. A big entrance." Kyle corrected himself as he stood at the edge.

"This isn't what I was expecting. How the hell are they able to hide this from the world?" Melissa said as she stood up and walked up to him.

"Who knows but this is it. It's right here." Kyle said as he stared deeply down the hole trying to see the bottom.

"You don't seem as eager as before, is this not what you were expecting?" Drey asked as he stood next to him.

*Thud thud* Multiple footsteps were approaching.

"Is that-" *Clap* Melissa was cut off as Kyle suddenly grabbed her hand.

"We don't have much time." Kyle pulled both Melissa and Drey with him into the hole as he jumped.

"AAAGGHH!!!" Screams of fear as they didn't know what to expect.

They were descending down the large, the white walls of the Antarctic ground that seemed to stretch almost infinitely, until it faded. Then it was pitch black, the purplish light was growing brighter as they got close but it didn't light anything. All they could see around them beside the pitch dark darkness was way smaller sparkles of lights. Ranging from yellow to red to blue, they were scattered everywhere.

Then they were overcome with purplish light for what seemed like half an hour before they breached something similar to what felt like bubbles but it was tougher. As they breached, they saw the sky. It was brilliantly breathtaking, an orangish yellow which faded into purple, they air seemed much richer and clear.

"How pretty this is." Melissa said as she stared at the sky.

"It is…. We're still falling however. So you should brace yourselves." Drey said before he looked at Kyle.

"There." Kyle's eyes shining brightly, he pointed directly at a Kingdom.

[Castle of Alfheim]

"Is there something wrong Milord?" An Elven soldier said in a confused tone.

"You're here…. Prepare the castle guards." King Fusis said with a wide grin.

"Yes sir!" He said before he headed out of the room.

[Castle of Giganheim]

"Father?" A Gigan prince said at the dining table.

"They've returned." The Gigan King said as he stood up. "Advanced training begins once lunch is over."

[Castle of Dwarvenheim]

"Prepare all stations and posts. Pray to the Queen, shall she grant us this victory once more…. The heathens have returned." The Dwarf Queen said as she slammed the end of her wooden staff against the ground.

[In the woods between every Kingdom.]

"Is everyone alright?" Kyle asked as he sat on top of a tree rubbing his stomach.

"Yeah I'm good…" Drey said as he crawled out a bush.

"So am I." Melissa said as she laid near a log.

"Do you feel that, It's different from the Great King's attraction?" Kyle said as he climbed down the tree.

"Yeah, is that the Queen?" Drey asked as he stood up and wiped the branches off of his clothes.

"It is." Kyle said as looked towards the Queen's direction.

*Crack* Something stepped on a branch and made them all jump simultaneously. But it was just a deer?

It seemed much more lean and muscular compared to the deers in the lower realms. They also have larger antlers that seem to grow in a circle form, matching eyes.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Melissa said in a freaked out tone.

"It looks like a deer but I'm not-" Drey was left speechless as it suddenly stood up on its hind legs.

It walked forwards through the bushes revealing the human-like feet and hands. "F-f-fud" It was trying to speak.

"W-what the…?! " Kyle looked up to the creature, as it stood tall.
