Chapter 47 - Task #3: RETREAT!

"Come on." Kyle said as he started running towards the Royal area.

"If not anyone than you should know how ill prepared we are." Drey said as he followed him.

"I never planned on fighting them. I'm only here to pick something up." Kyle said as he used the doorknob from one of the houses to boost himself up to a roof.

Melissa and Drey quickly followed behind him, scaling the roof easily. Moving towards the second black gate, Chief Chorian was stuck for a long time. He climbed the roof effortlessly despite the size of his armor, rushing them like a bull. He looked invincible, running over the alleys like they were small obstacles.

That headstart helped Kyle and his servants put distance away from the Chief.

"Well drop down here and move through the alleys-" Suddenly just as Kyle came up with a plan. Another Watchman appeared in front of them swinging his blade down on Kyle.

The difference in speed between this Watchman and the Chief was significant. Despite him getting the jump on them, Kyle was able to dodge his attack almost effortlessly.

Drey rushed the watchman, trying to land an attack on his chest with as much strength as he could muster. But the attack was blocked by the watchman's armor which felt impenetrable against his skin and only managed to make the Watchman take a small step back, it didn't seem like it fazed him.

*BOOM!* Chief Chorian's shadow suddenly loomed over Kyle as if the sun had fully settled.

Kyle looked up and saw the blade's edge cutting through the air. Almost like his body was clasped by hands, he couldn't move. Chief Chorian saw it at the last second, Melissa tackled Kyle out of the way.

And although she was able to help him, in the seconds before her body was fully out of the blade's way, Chief Chorian's blade sliced right through Melissa's legs.

A trail of blood followed them as they dropped from the room. Drey went after them, the second he saw Melissa's severed legs. The Watchmen paid no mind to them, thinking they wouldn't get far.

Meliss was trying her best not to scream or yell, as she squeezed Kyle's arms to resist the pain.

"My.. P- Ket." Melissa muttered as she struggled to point her finger at her pocket.

Kyle quickly dug in her pocket and found a pouch of blood she took from the agents earlier in the HPA base.

"So, what do you wanna do now?" Drey asked.

"Tch." Kyle knew he messed up. He let himself get saved again, even if his pride wouldn't let him turn back after getting this far. He felt the realization hit him. "I got too cocky." He thought, feeling disappointed in himself as he looked at Drey and then Melissa.

"Helloo?! We don't have any-" Drey was losing patience as Chief Chorian and the Watchman landed on the ground.

"We gotta move.. I have the Master role, I have to make them move.. Damn it, I should've never brought them here like this." He thought as he tried to help Melissa stand. "We're leaving."

"Keep your guard up, we're in the presence of a Vampire from the royal family. He may have one of the great traits of Queen Aria." Chief Chorian said as he readied his sword.

"How are we gonna do that?" Drey asked him as he put Melissa's arm around his neck to help her stand.

"They're going after me first since I have the master role. I can act as a decoy so Drey and Melissa can get away. They're unexpectedly strong and fast, I should've expected that though. If I give him an order, he'll be forced to escape as best as he can." Kyle thought as he looked at Drey. "Wait until my signal."

Drey realized that he wouldn't be able to balance himself correctly while being chased by the Watchmen. So he had Melissa climb on his back and waited for Kyle's plans but It wasn't relayed vocally, he felt Kyle's order engraved into his blood. Meaning he had no choice but to follow.

"Cease your wasted thoughts and-" Chief Chorian was caught unexpectedly as Kyle lunged towards him. Especially since the castle was in the opposite direction.

He immediately swung his sword going upwards from a certain angle, assuming Kyle wouldn't be able to dodge this attack like he did before. Kyle figured out the approximate speed of his attacks and as long as he saw the start, he was able to dodge them almost effortlessly. Chief Chorian didn't expect him to duck his blade at the last second, he also didn't expect Drey to run right past him just as he finished swinging.

Kyle looked at Chief Chorian's face as he tried to catch up to them. "You tricked me." Chief Chorian voiced angrily as his body snapped around. Facing Kyle and his servants almost instantly.

"That's gotta be cheating. How the hell did he do that?" Kyle questioned before he started running full speed away from him.

*Thunk* Kyle heard something heavy like metal drop to the floor behind him but didn't try to look back as he felt that would slow him down.

Kyle continued running, gradually catching up to Drey and Melissa thinking he was good. *Thdoom* until he saw a glimpse of what he hoped wasn't the Chief's gauntlet.

"No way, no way. He can't be that fast, is he cheating?!" Kyle thought as he tried to pick up his speed.

Be that as it may, Chief Chorian reached his speed and was running side by side with Kyle. The Chief dropped his weapon since it was slowing him down, noticing that Kyle attempted to go faster trying to push himself further but just as he did.

Chief Chorian hit him with a punch that felt as heavy as a bulldozer. Tossing him into one of the store windows, crashing through multiple shelves of miscellaneous items Kyle couldn't recognize.

"Did that kill me?.." Kyle questioned himself as he opened his eyes and saw an old Elf standing above him looking horrified.

"Please Evacuate, Mr. Wvil. The King will have these damages repaired." Chief Chorian said as he walked through the broken windows.

"Please see to it that this cretin isn't in my store after I am gone." Mr. Wvil said before he left through the backdoor.

"Of course Mr. Wvil. " Chief Chorian looked down at Kyle as he walked up to him. "Is this all you have to fight with as a vampire? For a race that's as proud and elegant as you are, is this all you can muster to keep yourselves alive. I'd say you would've been better off not being born if this was your best chance." He belittled Kyle, looking down on him as he was laid on his back and covered in shards of glass.

Nonetheless the Chief got ready to hit him with another attack, it was a punch that he cocked back to give power. He clearly wanted to put a hole inside Kyle.

As he readied himself, millions of thoughts ran through his head in less than a second's worth of time. Kyle wasn't going to let his fear completely control him, he used this little time to calm himself down and clear his mind. He didn't want to be captured again, nor did he want to be killed. ".Jeremy gave me his blood so I could survive. Have I been wasting his sacrifice this whole time? He wanted to make sure the ANM achieved its goal, I have his role and dream now.. I can't keep acting like some impatient child who doesn't think before he acts. Drey and Melissa suffered from my actions twice already. I need to man up, I'm 17 years old now and I'm a captain of the ANM, a large organization in the lower realms. I need to start acting like one." Kyle thought before he rolled backwards onto his hands and jumped away from the Chiefs attack.

"I am the last Prince of Blutheim, My mother the 5th daughter of the Queen suffered a long time for an heir to be born. Now that I have been born, I must reclaim the crown. That was what My mother wanted. However this is my life and I apologize to my mother but it may take me a little while longer to return." Kyle thought as he stood face to face with the Chief. "Tell King Fusis, I will return without a doubt."

"Bravado however, that's only if you make it out of Alfheim." Chief Chorian said carelessly as he got into a hand to hand fighting stance.

".." Kyle got into the ANM's fighting stance waiting for the Chief to attack again.

Chief Chorian's attack was faster this time as he tried to strike him with his palm, although Kyle never planned on actually fighting him. He waited for this attack so he could dodge it and get around him, having said that. Chief Chorian expected this much and allowed Kyle to get behind him so he could strike him with a straight kick.

This sent Kyle flying out of the shop and into the street, where he could see all the elves' eyes even though they were hiding behind windows.

And just as he fell to the ground, he realized the other Watchman was waiting with Chief Chorian's long sword and landed on his hands to push himself backwards.

However he quickly stepped back as Chief Chorian suddenly charged Kyle and tried to grapple him but he began covering his face just before Kyle's feet planted into them. Kyle hoped that he would think that this was an attack so he could push himself off and get another head start

Kyle ran down one of the alleys, going through it like it was an alley while following Drey and Melissa's scent.

Chief Chorian headed to the gate with the other Watchmen, knowing they wouldn't be able to get through the narrow alleys like Kyle since their armor was so bulky.

They moved with haste, and once they got to the gate. Chief Chorian had all of the other Watchmen on their guard, with their weapons out and watching every angle.

But they didn't expect Kyle to get back on the rooftops as the space between the gate and the town was as great as three buildings. That didn't discourage him in the least.

"He can't make it, that'll kill him definitely. Even if he's a vampire." One of the Watchmen said as they saw Kyle soaring through the sky.

"This doubt was how I was fooled. His servants escaped already, he's following them. Come on, we'll head to the Kingdom's gate because we won't be able to chase him once he is out of the walls." Chief Chorian said as he charged through the gate with one of the Watchmen.

On the other hand Kyle only just barely made the jump, hanging from the edge of the gate, he pulled himself over to the other side and pushed himself. Kyle only realized the height of the gate when he jumped, he didn't care as he felt the wind wrapping around his body as if it was gently carrying him. He stared at the sky and remembered a place that seemed all so familiar and warm.

*Thud* He suddenly landed on what felt like grass.

"What the hell?" Kyle quickly sat up before he saw the Great King Alucard sitting there with a small cup of tea.

"This won't even take a second. There's nothing greater than the bond between a master and servant, besides the bond between Royalty and retainer. You made a stupid decision but I won't blame you, hopefully you learned from this. Just remember, you aren't just a member of the Vampire race, you are of the Royal Family, the last Prince. Everything you do is your choice and to save and visit the Queen, is the same as saying you are ready to take over the crown and become King." The Great King Alucard said he reached his hand over to Kyle and plucked his forehead.

Which made it feel as if his soul was flying through the ground. *Gasp* Kyle opened his eyes and he was in the air again free falling from the gate. "I can't become a King.." Kyle uttered nervously.
