Chereads / Vampire: Tales from the King / Chapter 12 - Ms. Lilly

Chapter 12 - Ms. Lilly

"Ms. Lilly is in the back.." A burly man said in a grumble-like tone as he held the door open for them.

Michael and David quickly walked to the back with Drey following behind them but as Drey walked past the burly man, he noticed that there were two other men with the same physique. The three men immediately walked out of the room and allowed them to head to the back.

The room they walked into seemed oddly empty although there were shelves on all of the walls filled with boxes and two metal tables that seemed to have discolored stains. David made sure Drey was still following them as they walked to another metal door that was behind the two metal tables. They continued to walk in silence as Michael opened the door and saw a dimly lit staircase behind it which led to the basement. David walked in and made sure Drey followed directly behind him, as Michael went in after them.

"This is a weird woman but she won't do anything bad to you. So if she tries to do something, just let her." Michael said as he heard a door from the bottom of the stairs open.

They were able to see the door at the bottom although they were half down. As the door opened, they saw a woman push a large trash can out of the room. She wore a lab coat over a t-shirt and shorts with a name tag on her coat named Lilly.

"None of them even thought of staying behind to throw this out, fucking-" Lilly stopped as she saw them on the stairs. "Why didn't you call this time?" She asked as she backed a couple feet away from the trash can.

"We-" David couldn't finish as she spoke up and cut him off.

"It doesn't matter, move this trash can under the stairs." Lilly said as she pointed at Michael. "How can I help you today?" Lilly said as she walked back into her room.

The room was larger compared to the other rooms upstairs. On one side there was a wooden desk with a cash register on top of it that was a couple meters away from the door, and labeled black file cabinets that were spread across the room in dark spots of the room which made them nearly invisible. It was filled with other things which made it seem like a regular office but there was a curtain blocking the other side.

"We need a blood order and a map of every tunnel in Bloomfield and Washington Village." David said as he noticed Drey staring at the curtains.

"Do you want me to add all of the hidden ones as well? It's gonna cost so much more because they contain information about the tunnels currently controlled by other organizations and/or corporations." Lilly asked as she grabbed a map from one of the drawers behind her desk.

"Yes, that's exactly what I need. " David said as Michael finally walked up to them after moving the trash.

Instead of handing the map to David, she walked up to Drey and started staring at his skin almost as if she was trying to study him. Lilly looked at David and Michael before grabbing his chin and forcefully lifting his head to get a better view of his neck and to their shock Drey didn't have any problem letting her touch him.

"You don't have a pulse, are you a vampire?" Lilly asked as she pulled his mask off.

"Yes I am." Compared to how Drey was around David and Michael, he seemed to be more relaxed when he met Lilly.

"Is the blood for him or is he a gift?" Lilly asked in a raised tone.

"It's for him." Michael said in an irritated tone.

"If you or any of your friends need blood just come to me, I always have a fresh batch." Lilly said to Drey before she walked towards the other side of the room. "How much blood do you need?" She asked as she opened the curtains.

The view of what was behind the curtain seemed creepy and unhinged as about four body bags were hanging above a rectangular metal table and a small dresser behind which had different types of tools mainly used for cutting.

There was only one closet in that area and it was in the left corner that was also hidden in the dark only showing the brass knob. Liquid seemed to be in some of the bags as you can see it softly weighing the bottom of the bag.

"Just 300 ml, separated equally." David said before she grabbed three glass jars from the bottom of the dresser.

Lilly slowly unzipped one of the body bags to allow blood to fall into one of the jars and zipped it up once the jar was filled and covered it, she repeated that process with the twoA other jars. After she got the jars filled with blood, she had the three of them come over and pick up the jars.

"I'd rather not, how much does this cost?" David felt nauseous looking at the jars.

"The blood is 300$, the map is the same price as the other ones you buy so just put the money on top of my desk." Lilly said as she grabbed a bucket from the closet in the corner

"Wait." Michael said as he saw her put a bucket under one of the bags.

"What?" Lilly said as she unzipped a bag to fill the bucket.

"Tell us who those guys were. The two people in the suits." Michael said as he grabbed two of the bottles and Drey grabbed the last one.

"They were just CICA agents hunting some vampires but I didn't have the info they were looking for. They weren't customers so I can't charge you for that information, unfortunately." Lilly said as she watched the bucket fill up with blood

"Alright. We're leaving now." Michael said as soon as he saw David put the money on top of her desk.

"Bye bye, come back any time!" Lilly said as she moved the bucket to a different bag.

After David left money on the table, they left the room as Lilly started draining the blood out of all the bags. Once they finally left the shop and got back to the car, they gave two of the jars to Kyle and Melissa while Drey kept the one he held.

"We're going to the safe house now, the other captains should be there as well." Michael said as he started the car and drove off.

"How does she get the meat anyway? I thought the tunnel was closed off." Kyle asked as he remembered the tape that closed off part of the tunnel earlier.

"She isn't selling animal meat so it's probably those people we saw when we first arrived." Drey said as he took a sip from his jar.

"What?!" Kyle said as he looked at Drey with his eyes widened in shock.

"No they aren't. Lilly isn't going around and collecting people to chop up. Organizations use her to get rid of bodies because she can clean up any scene and nowadays everything is messy." Michael said in what seemed like a proud tone although he kept a straight face. "But that isn't the only thing she does. You'll see once you visit her yourself." Michael finished.

"Don't worry Kyle, she shows nothing but trust to all of her employees and since you're a part of ANM then you'll be fine. But if you betray her, there's no saving you even if all of the militaries in the world came to save you." David said as he stared ahead so he wouldn't have to look at the jars of blood. "What do you think of her Drey?" He asked.

Drey took a while to answer him as thought of her, which seemed odd to David as he usually had his answers unexpectedly ready. But after a couple minutes he finally answered, "I didn't smell any blood on her hands although she had small stains on them. She doesn't seem quite normal in the head either but I like it." Drey said as he almost seemed to be day dreaming.

"That's odd, most people would find that kind of weird repulsive but I guess if that's what you like." David said in a shocked tone as he tried to look back at him but the blood made him quickly look away.

They were only a couple miles away from the ANM's safe house now and the one thing that lingered in all of their heads was the task that they will have to complete today. The other Captains of the ANM are patiently waiting for David and Michael to arrive with Kyle and Servants.

Although the captains have done dozens of tasks, this one felt more intense as they didn't know what to expect with Kyle and the organization they will meet today.
