Julia had just left her bedroom when she started hearing voices downstairs. As she went to the living room, she saw her parents talking with a man in a suit. He had his back faced to her so she could only see his broad shoulders and well-proportioned back. His height looked at least 6ft2.
Thinking that they were discussing business, she slowly tried to slip away not being in the mood to entertain any guest.
"Julia dear, come over here" Grace, her mother suddenly said. Her parents usually turn a blind eye whenever they see that she is not willing to step forward and introduce herself but this time, her mother kept on waving for her to come over with smiles on her face.
The man in the suit turned back immediately just noticing her presence. The sight that met her was mouth-watering. She has seen a lot of handsome guys but he was on another level. His face looked as though he was sculpted and God, his blue eyes looked as though he was piercing into one's soul.
"Nice to meet you", He extended his hands pulling her out of her trance. His accent was visible in his voice. She didn't even notice him coming forward.
"Juia, this is Mr Nicholas Ferrero. He is the president of Forte Enterprise. He is your grandfather's friend's grandson" Andrew, her father introduced them.
Julia shook his hands wondering what the great president of Forte Enterprise was doing in their house. Everyone knew about him. He was said to be a very ruthless businessman and very few people knew his face. That was why she didn't recognize him immediately.
"He is to be your future husband" Andrew said.
"What!!" Julia shouted wondering when this arrangement was made. Her parents don't normally make decisions about her life without asking first.
"Why do I have to marry him. I am not interested. I don't even know him". Her father kept on looking at her as if she was throwing a tantrum. This was the life they were talking about. Why does it seem as though she was being unreasonable?
"You guys are not being fair. Daddy! Mummy!" Everyone was just looking at her.
"Baby, mummy knows but this arrangement was made by your grandfather and Nicholas here is a darling," Grace said already infatuated with her future son-in-law making Julia remember that there was someone else with them.
" You can get to know him. You know your grandfather doesn't change his mind." Her father said walking over to her.
" My princess, do this for Daddy" Andrew bent and whispered in her ears.
Nicholas was observing everyone and it seemed that Julia was well doted on. He didn't know what her father told her but it made her heave a sign of resignation and she walked over to him.
" I am Julia Grayson" "Of course you know that" She was rambling and she could tell seeing as a small smile was on his face. He was trying not to laugh at her and that made her madder.
She wasn't usually nervous but facing him, she couldn't help it.
" Can we talk in private ?e?" she asked him trying to take control of the situation.
"Of course" He answered. "If you would excuse me, Grace, Andrew," He said bowing as a real gentleman.
They went together to her bedroom. Once the door was closed, she turned toward him folding her hands.
"Why are you agreeing to this? I know my reason but what about you" She was genuinely confused. She had heard that no one could make him do what he doesn't want. Her grandfather is still the company's chairman so he still has some leverage over her father and her family would benefit greatly if they were to partner up but he wouldn't have any benefits.
She felt it wouldn't also be because of her looks. Yes, she was beautiful but he must have met a lot of prettier girls. Italian girls are said to be very pretty so she couldn't think of any reason.
" I also have my reasons" He replied using her words against her.
" Just call of the engagement. I am not ready for marriage, especially with a stranger" She said in a commanding voice hoping this got to you.
"No can't do" He replied trying to hide his amusement.
" Do you think this is funny?" She said making hand gestures that he realized she always does when trying to prove a point.
" Yes actually. Why are you strongly against this idea when you were eating me up with your eyes not long ago" He said intending to make her embarrassed.
"I like appreciating beauty," She said scoffing completely surprising him.
" We have finally come to a conclusion" "See you later, Cara Mia," He said leaving the room and making her wonder when they came to a final decision.
