"Who doesn't know Nicholas Ferrero? He is every girl's dream. He is a walking sex magnet. I saw his face from a tabloid but it was deleted immediately. He is Italian-American. His mom was an American lady. She passed away at childbirth.'' Kristen said eyes shimmering looking like a fan girl.
That piece of information was new to Julia. She didn't know he didn't have a mother.
"But.." She paused " I heard that he doesn't associate with women. There hasn't been a rumor about him with a woman. Some said he was gay but that can't be possible because a man that looks like him shouldn't even be associated with the word gay. No offense to gay people" She said excitedly.
Mike shook his head.
" I know that he is a ruthless man. He doesn't tolerate mistakes" Mike said chipping in. " My father has warned me never to offend him. He doesn't care if you are family or not, just don't offend him."
"That's true. I heard he had a falling out with his father when he was eighteen." Kristen took over the narration "He was said to have disappeared for five years, nobody knows where he went but after he came back, he started his company and it quickly rose to be the number one company in the country surpassing his father's company" " Plenty rumours have talked about his whereabout but nobody knows for sure. I like me a mysterious guy" Kristen said trying to imitate an accent fanning herself.
" You don't need to leave so much clue to confess to me." Mike suddenly said.
Julia and Kristen turned to look at him wondering where that came from.
" You just said you like a mysterious guy and the school's most mysterious guy is standing beside you. Don't you sense a double meaning, Juls?" Mike explained himself.
This made Julia start laughing and Kelly's face turned slightly red.
"You aren't mysterious but a loner." Kristen said trying to hide her blush and Mike and Julia kept on laughing walking out of school.
That was what Nicholas saw when he spotted her. Julia was laughing and she looked so carefree. Her hair was flowing and she looked so beautiful.
He looked beside her and saw a guy. They were laughing together. Nicholas felt his anger rising. Who was this guy talking to his fiance and why did they look so intimate together?
"Juls" Julia heard a familiar voice call her and she looked in that direction.
Standing not far away and walking gracefully towards her was Nicholas wearing a tailor-made fitted suit looking as handsome as always. It looked like even the sun acknowledged his presence as the sun was glistening on him.
"Oh my God, Oh my God, Is that" Kristen was saying excitedly. It looked as if she was finding it difficult to call his name.
Mike was wondering who that guy was seeing Kristen's reaction. He was a fine man but he felt she was overreacting and how did he know Julia anyway?
Nicholas finally reached them. He smiled at Julia and held her waist to him.
"Hi," he said in an affectionate voice "Won't you introduce your friends to me?" He asked her.
Kristen couldn't hide her starstruck face.
Julia was wondering when they became close enough for this affectionate display.
"Since she seems incapable of introducing me, I am Nicholas, her fiance," He said staring at the guy marking his territory.
They both stared at Julia in shock but she just smiled sheepishly knowing that she would have to deal with the questions very soon.
"I am Kristen and this is Mike, we are Julia's best friend" Kristen replied wondering when her best friend got engaged.
"We need to get going now. Hope to see you again" Nicholas said and they both left.
Mike kept on looking at their retreating wondering why Nicholas seemed hostile to him. Maybe it was his imagination but he was he glared at him.
"Mike, I can't believe this" Kristen said
"Me too. Julia didn't even tell us about her engagement" Mike said concurring with her.
"Not that, silly. Don't you know who that is" Kristen asked.
" How am I supposed to know," Mike said looking at her as if she has lost a screw.
" That's Nicholas Ferrero, the one we're talking about just now" " No wonder Julia asked about him. You can just imagine my shock. He is better looking in person. How did Julia even meet him" Kristen kept on talking.
Mike was shocked because his father told him that Nicholas wasn't an ordinary person to see time. He said that only one percent of the wealthiest people saw and knew him. That was why when he introduced himself, Mike didn't think that he was the same person Julia asked about.
Mike wondered how he offended Nicholas to get that kind of chilly feeling.
At the car.
"What are you doing here?" Julia asked Nicholas once they sat down.
"I came to pick up my fiancee from school" He replied.
"You're really unbelievable. You came one day and then disappeared for almost a month. Now you just come hear calling me your fiancee and everything is meant to be okay" Julia said wondering what on earth was wrong with him.
"Ah, So you missed me," Nicholas said looking as though he just realized why she was angry. Julia couldn't understand what was wrong with him and his conclusion everytime.
"I give up. You are impossible" Julia said looking out the window.
Nicholas just looked at her and chuckled. He brought out his laptop busying himself with work and glancing at her occasionally.
Julia turned her head back and saw Nicholas working on his laptop. She suddenly remembered the story about his five-year disappearance and wondered what he was doing.
Nicholas felt her looking at him with her innocent face and a part of him was already responding. He was sure she didn't know what those eyes were doing to him.
They arrived at a restaurant.
"What are we doing here" She asked.
"Our first date," He said and without any other response, he went to the other side to help her down.
