As they walked into the restaurant, Julia recognized it immediately. It was a famous restaurant and you can't just eat there without booking for an appointment.
It sometimes takes weeks or even months before one can get a chance to eat there. Everyone is treated equally no matter your status.
They don't seem to care about offending people so connections don't work. Julia's father also has to make prior arrangement weeks to the day they want to eat out but Nicholas just strolled in as if he owns the place.
Maybe, he had already made plans weeks before but she didn't remember agreeing to go out with him. That meant he didn't consult her first feelings she just agreed to follow him and this made her angrier.
She was about to confront him for this but when she saw the manager at the door personally welcoming and bowing down to him so respectfully, her words got stuck in her throat.
Nicholas just gave a curt nod to him as if it was an everyday thing and walked passed without any other acknowledgement.
The manager had just heard that Nicholas was coming to the restaurant. The big boss hardly comes unless for some regular checks and they were all informed beforehand. Everyone was running around to put things in the perfect place because they knew he could fire them even if with the smallest mistake.
The manager ran down immediately to escort him to his private elevator. If anyone looked closer at him, they would have seen beads of sweat on him.
As he approached him, he saw him with a lady and before he could speak, Nicholas gave him a look meaning he should shut up.
The big boss seemed to have just come to the restaurant to eat and they had overreacted. The rumors said that the boss was gay and even the manager believed it but seeing him with this beautiful lady and the look in his eyes when he looked at her told him otherwise.
Well, that was his boss's business and he was relieved that at least no one was getting fired today.
Nicholas looked at Julia curious gaze at him. Many didn't know he was the owner so he understood why she was looking at him curiously.
"The..... " His phone rang interrupting him and he wanted to ignore it but when he saw it was from someone quite important, he had no choice but to answer.
"I will be right back. Just call my name and you will be attended to" He said walking away.
Julia walked to where the receptionist was. As she came closer, she saw how the receptionist scrutinized her from head to toe.
Although her clothes were designed, they looked casual for anyone who doesn't know fashion well and the receptionist looked like one. Julia was wearing jeans and a top that cost over 10,000 dollars but those were not the kind of fit for this kind of place.
Damn, Nicholas. He didn't even give her the chance to dress up.
"Hi, I am...." The receptionist didn't even give her a chance to finish her statement before she interrupted harshly.
"Do you have a reservation?" She asked.
"Yes, I think so. I came with..."
" So you think so. Excuse me but not everyone can come here" The receptionist kept on interrupting her. " You can leave now," The receptionist said shooing her away as if she was a fly. Julia had never received such treatment before and the receptionist seemed new so she couldn't recognize her.
Julia already had enough "How dare you. Do you know who I am"
"Please kindly leave and don't cause a scene here or I will have to call security," Th, the receptionist said. It seemed like the girl was here to cause trouble.
"Julia, what is happening here?" Julia heard a familiar voice and when she turned, she saw Kelly strolling towards her with Mark behind. She could see mockery written in her face. Julia couldn't understand how she had been friends with her without seeing through her.
Kelly had watched everything that happened from the beginning. She was happy that Julia was being humiliated like this. The princess of the Grayson being treated as a pauper. Hah.
Mark had reserved this place for her weeks ago but Julia thought she could just come anytime and be accepted. What a joke. She heard that the restaurant doesn't care about connections because the owner is very powerful.
Kelly didn't want to interrupt but when Mark finally came back from the restroom, she thought of a better idea.
"Isn't that Julia", she had said dragging Mark's attention to the little commotion at the front. "Let's go help out. We were once friends anyway" and that had convinced Mark to go with her.
Kelly knew Mark still liked Julia. If she had not seduced him, he would still be loyal to Julia. Kelly had put up this meek character that most guys liked in a woman attracting him with her innocence. She wanted Julia to see them together knowing she had stolen something from her.
Kelly had always been jealous of Julia and that was why she had gone after Mark combined with the fact that he was rich and handsome.
"Why are you stopping her from entering. Don't you know she is the daughter of Mr Grayson" Kelly said in an attempt to help but that only made the guests look at Julia in disdain.
Everyone used their connections but when pointed out, everyone acted as if they are saints.
When the receptionist heard her, she lost her calm for a moment and got frightened but when she remembered that her boss doesn't care about one's background, she quietly looked at her list but no Grayson was listed so she regained her composure.
"Miss Grayson, I am sorry but no matter who you are, you have to make a reservation." She said but with less authority and courage than before.
Julia looked at Kelly angrily knowing what she just did.
"Julia, you can come to join, us", Kelly said ignoring Julia's obvious anger at her. Mark nodded silently at Kelly's request.
" What made you think I would be joining you" Julia replied.
The receptionist was already relieved when she heard what Kelly said because she didn't want to offend a big shot anymore but Julia's arrogant remark made her angrier. She hated poor people who didn't know their places but overall, she hated those privileged children who thinks everyone is below them.
"Security, come take this woman away," She said pressing the buzzer. Her boss would not see any reason to be angry with her because she obviously tried her best.
Everyone was mocking and secretly laughing at Julia and Julia could hear some of them.
Kelly stood there with a happy smile covering it up as if she was sad leaning on Mark who was comforting her as if Julia's words hurt her.
The security came and when they saw it was the woman the boss was with, they stood there not moving.
"Take her away from here" The receptionist shouted when she saw Julia's relaxed posture.
"Who dares!!" A voice was heard and everyone turned in that direction.
