Chapter 20 - Testing my powers

As I left the fortress the orb transformed into a black sword. Which was overflowing with Aura of death.

I was approached by two messengers from the palace of Hades. They had come to invite me to the underworld and to speak with the lord of the dead himself.

I knew what this meant. Hades had heard of my newfound power, and he wanted to see for himself what I was capable of. It was a chance to prove myself, to show that I was worthy of his respect. And without his approval I could not leave the underworld. Getting in was easy, but the exit was complicated. I did it already once, but I could not hope for my luck for this time.

As we descended deeper into the realm of the dead, the air grew colder and the shadows deeper.

Finally, we arrived at the palace of Hades.

As I entered the grand palace of Hades, I was met with a sight unlike any other. The walls were made of black stone and adorned with intricate carvings of death and darkness. The floors were paved with obsidian, and the air was thick with the scent of decay.

I was led through winding corridors by two hooded figures, their steps silent as the grave. The deeper we went, the colder the air became, until I could see my breath in front of me.

Finally, we arrived at a grand chamber, and I could sense the presence of Hades before I even laid eyes on him. The god of the underworld sat on a throne of bones, his cold, black eyes fixed on me.

"So, you seek to test your newfound power," he said, his voice echoing through the chamber. "Very well. But know this: I will only allow you to leave if you are worthy. So make a good show me."

Hades smiled, and with a wave of his hand, the doors to the hall slammed shut. I could hear the sound of metal grinding against metal, and I knew that I was not alone.

Snap.

Out of the shadows emerged a horde of undead warriors, their swords and spears at the ready. I drew my own weapon, a spear that had been blessed by the gods themselves.

With a loud battle cry, I charged into the fray. The clash of metal on metal echoed through the hall, and the air was thick with the smell of blood.

I fought with all my might, driving back the undead warriors one by one. But for every one I struck down, two more seemed to take its place.

As I fought, I could feel Hades' gaze upon me, watching my every move. It was as if he was toying with me, letting me think that I had a chance of winning.

But I refused to give up. I channeled all my power into my attacks, striking with lightning-fast speed and unbreakable determination.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the last of the undead warriors fell. The hall was silent, save for my heavy breathing.

Hades stood up from his throne and approached me. "You have proven yourself worthy," he said. "You may return to the world of the living."

„Not yet," I said," Oh great Hades give me the chance to fight against you."

„Fine. Try to touch me if you want," he said giggling.

I stepped forward, feeling the weight of my black sword in my hand. It had transformed into a mythic weapon, infused with the power of the orb Thanatos had given me.

„Take this," I yelled and jumped on him.

Hades chuckled, rising from his throne. "You are a bold one," he said, his eyes glittering with amusement. "But very well. I will allow you to test your power against me."

With a wave of his hand, Hades summoned a pair of wicked-looking daggers. They glinted in the torchlight, and I knew that I was in for a tough fight.

The battle began, and I could tell immediately that Hades was holding back. He toyed with me, dancing around my strikes with ease and delivering quick jabs with his daggers. But I was determined to prove myself, and I fought with everything I had.

Swush. Bum. My sword clashed against Hades' daggers, sending sparks flying in every direction. I could feel the heat of the battle, and I knew that I was giving it my all.

But still, Hades toyed with me. He dodged my strikes effortlessly, and I found myself on the defensive more often than not.

Finally, I saw an opening. Hades had left himself vulnerable, and I struck with all my might. My sword connected with his shoulder, and I felt a surge of triumph as I saw the look of surprise on his face.

But the victory was short-lived. Hades recovered quickly, and I found myself on the receiving end of a brutal counterattack. His daggers sliced through the air, and I barely had time to dodge out of the way.

The battle raged on, and I could feel myself growing weaker. But I refused to give up. I fought with every last ounce of strength I had, determined to prove myself worthy of Hades' respect.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the battle was over. Hades stood before me, his daggers at his sides, and I could see the grudging respect in his eyes.

"You have proven yourself worthy," he said. "You may return to the world above, and use your newfound power as you see fit."

With those words, the battle was over.

After the fight with Hades, I felt defeated and weak. Even with my new power, I was still no match for the god of the underworld. I had thought that breaking the seal and unlocking the power of the orb would make me invincible, but I was wrong.

As I stood there, battered and bruised, I realized that there was still much I had to learn. I couldn't rely solely on my new power to win battles, I needed to improve my skills and strategy as well.

But even though I had lost, I knew that this was not the end. I would continue to push myself and grow stronger, until I was finally able to defeat Hades and any other enemy that stood in my way.
