Chapter 21 - The goddess of moon

I had just been teleported back to the borders of the Land of Sun, my body still aching from the battle with Hades. I was still filled with anger and frustration at my defeat. How could I have been so weak, even after breaking the seal?

As I walked, lost in my thoughts, I saw a figure approaching in the distance. As it came closer, I saw that it was a woman, dressed in a simple white tunic and carrying a bow and quiver. It was Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon.

She stopped in front of me and studied me with her piercing blue eyes. "You look troubled," she said. "What is on your mind?"

I hesitated for a moment before answering. "I was just defeated by Hades. Even after breaking the seal, I still feel weak."

Artemis nodded understandingly. "Hades is a formidable opponent. But you must not give up hope. There are others who need your help."

She went on to explain that she was on her way to confront Helios, the sun god, who had imprisoned her brother Apollo. She needed to defeat Helios to free Apollo and restore balance to the world.

"I have encountered a powerful mage who killed my comrades," I said. "I was forced to retreat, but now I am back to finish what I started."

Artemis looked at me with a glint of respect in her eyes. "You have courage and determination, and those are traits that will serve you well in this quest. Take care of the mage, I will take care of Helios."

I nodded, feeling a sense of purpose rekindling within me. "Beware of his tricks. Helios is very powerful."

We went our separate ways, but I knew that our paths would cross again. And when they did, I would be ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

Artemis was an imposing figure, even among the gods. She stood tall and proud, her long hair pulled back in a tight braid. Her silver bow glinted in the sunlight, and a quiver of arrows hung from her shoulder.

Behind her were her hunters, a group of fierce women clad in leather armor and armed with bows and spears. They moved in perfect formation, their steps light and silent.

As they began to make their way towards the tower, the hunters spread out in a wide arc, scanning the surrounding area for any sign of danger.

Artemis turned to me, her eyes sharp and calculating.

"Remember, don't overdo and use your power wisely fully controlled. I can see your future it is dark and complicated. One wrong step and you will die."

With that, she and her hunters disappeared into the trees, leaving me alone to face my next challenge.

As I made my way through the forest towards the tower, I could see the ruins in the distance. The once-mighty structure now lay in ruins, its stones weathered and crumbling. And yet, there was still a sense of foreboding that emanated from the place.

As I approached the tower, I could see the golden golems that guarded it. They were massive, towering over me with their metallic frames. But I was confident in my newfound power, and I knew that I could take them on.

I charged forward, my black sword raised high. The golems sprang to life, their metal limbs whirring as they moved to intercept me.

But I was too quick for them. I moved with a speed that was almost supernatural, my movements fluid and graceful. The curse of Achilles protected me from harm, and the golems' attacks bounced off of me harmlessly.

I could feel the power surging within me, the same power that had allowed me to break the seal. It flowed through my veins like a river of fire, lending me strength and speed beyond mortal reckoning.

With each swipe of my sword, I carved deep gouges in the golems' metallic frames. They were strong, to be sure, but they were no match for me.

As I fought, I could feel my confidence growing. The golems were falling one by one, their metal bodies crashing to the ground with a resounding clang.

Finally, I stood amidst the ruins of the tower, the golems destroyed at my feet. I could see the remnants of the powerful mage's spells scattered around me, evidence of the dark magic that had once been wrought here.

As I searched for any clues or hidden passages, I noticed a small hatch that seemed out of place. I approached it and pushed it open, revealing a narrow staircase leading downwards.

As I descended the stairs, the air grew colder and the silence became more oppressive. When I reached the bottom, I found myself in a small antechamber with a silver door at the far end. There was no handle or visible mechanism for opening it.

I studied the door for a moment, then placed my hand on it. A surge of power flowed from my palm, and the door glowed with a faint light before swinging open.

I stepped inside and closed the door behind me, but as soon as it clicked shut, I heard a hiss of air and a metallic clank. I turned to find that the door was now sealed, and there was no visible way to open it.

"Damn it," I muttered under my breath. "Looks like I walked right into a trap."

As I searched for a way out, I heard a voice echoing through the room. "So, you've finally found me, have you? I've been waiting for you."

I recognized the voice as that of the mage who had defeated me before. I turned to face him, ready for a fight.

He emerged from the shadows, a thin, wiry man with piercing blue eyes and a cruel smile. He wore a tattered robe and carried a wand that crackled with energy.

"I must admit, I didn't think you'd make it this far," he said. "But I suppose I underestimated you."

"You won't make that mistake again," I replied, drawing my sword.

We circled each other warily, each waiting for the other to make the first move. Finally, he lunged at me with his wand, firing a bolt of lightning.

I sidestepped the attack and swung my sword, but he blocked it with a shield spell. We exchanged blows, but I could feel that I was getting the better of him. The curse of Achilles made me virtually invincible, and my attacks were lightning-fast and devastatingly powerful.

Finally, I saw an opening and took it, striking the mage with a vicious blow that sent him sprawling to the ground. He lay there, gasping for breath, while I stood over him, my sword at his throat.

"Finish me, then," he hissed. "Do it, if you have the guts."

I hesitated, feeling a sudden surge of pity for the defeated mage. But then I remembered all the pain and suffering he had caused, and I steeled myself to strike the final blow.

As I raised my sword, however, there was a sudden blinding flash of light, and I felt myself being thrown backwards.

I rushed forward, my black sword raised high, ready to strike. The mage was quick to react, his fingers flicking out as he cast a spell. But my reflexes were just as fast, and I twisted my body, avoiding the burst of energy that shot towards me.

I closed the gap between us, and the mage tried to back away, but I was too fast. I swung my sword, and it met his with a loud clash of metal. We exchanged a flurry of blows, each strike ringing out in the ruins of the tower.

The mage was skilled, but he couldn't keep up with my speed and strength. I pushed him back, and he stumbled over a piece of rubble. Taking advantage of his momentary weakness, I lunged forward and pierced him through the chest with my sword.

The mage gasped and collapsed to the ground. I withdrew my sword and watched as his body turned to dust. The curse of Achilles had made me nearly invincible, and the mage's spells were no match for me.

But as I turned to leave the room, I felt a sudden pull, and I realized I was trapped. The silver door had closed behind me, and I was locked in.

I tried to force it open, but it wouldn't budge. The mage had set a trap for me, and I had fallen right into it.

Anger flared in my chest, but I pushed it down. I needed to focus on getting out of here. I searched the room, looking for any way out, but there was nothing.

Then, I noticed a small pedestal in the corner of the room, with a glowing orb resting on top of it. I approached it cautiously, but as I got closer, I felt a wave of power wash over me.

I reached out and picked up the orb, and suddenly, I was enveloped in a bright light. When it faded, I found myself back outside the tower ruins, the orb still glowing in my hand.

I grinned in satisfaction. The mage had underestimated me, and I had come out on top. Now, I had a powerful new tool to aid me on my quest.

Wumm

My sword absorbed the power of the orb and I could feel it getting harder and stronger.
