Chapter 4 - It Wasn't Like This

Erica couldn't come pick Jayden and Davina up from school since a few problems came up at work.

So the chauffeur came instead, which was a first since Erica trusted nobody but herself around her daughter, although there were a few exceptions.

"Miss Davina, I've come to pick you and Young Master Jayden."

Davina walked to the car and stopped. She scanned the surroundings in search of her beloved cousin but he was nowhere in sight.

"Where is that bonehead?" Davina grumbled. "He made us late in the morning and he wants to do the same now? Not this time!"

She walked back to the classroom block. "Miss Davina, where are you going?"

Davina turned to face him and said, "To find my stupid brother and drag him here."

Meanwhile, Aiden and Austin were running after Jayden, who was walking around aimlessly.

He was startled when he heard Aiden calling out," Jayden!!" He stopped and looked up to find he was close to banging his head on a tree.

He muttered, "Thanks," as the two teens caught up with him. Austin said, "Look, we're sorry if we sounded a bit too forceful earlier. Its just that we really don't want you getting hurt."

Aiden added,"I can tell by your demeanor that you've never had a friend before. We want to be your friends, man. We want to help you. But we can't do that if you don't let us."

Jayden finally gave in. "It was Ethan. He seemed pretty upset that I displayed more talent than him and did this as a warning."

"A warning for what?" "Not to surpass him."

"Is the guy mad?" Aiden facepalmed himself." So just because someone else is better than him he ....." He was at a loss for words.

"Let's go beat the crap out of him now!!" Austin roared, clearly hungry for a brawl.

Aiden replied, "Bruh, the guy beat up every single player in the team, including you. Ten at a time, too."

Austin's face sank." Oh man. I had totally forgotten about that incident. "

Aiden smiled, " Don't beat yourself up about it, man. Its expected from someone who is all muscle and no brain."

Austin's blood started to boil and he looked at Aiden with an evil smile on his face. Aiden gulped.

"Hey Aiden," Austin spoke. "Its been a while since we last sparred with each other. Why don't we start a session now?" Aiden weighed his options.

Either he runs away and suffers double the next day, or take the hit now and get it over with.

The last one was the best but the worst too.'Jayden!' He thought. 'If I can get Jayden to tell him to leave me alone, I'll be safe!. I will gave to stay around him at all times, though.'

He turned to Jayden. "Buddy please man, don't let him beat me! He'll kill me! Buddy please!"

Tears were welling up in his eyes and Jayden was wondering if he was truly scared or just a good actor.

"Okay," and this one word made Aiden jump in joy. His joy was crushed with the following words," I'll stop him from killing you. But till he reaches that point, you're on your own."

Aiden gulped even harder as he saw the large grin Austin had on his face.

"3...2...1...Go!"

Before Austin's first punch connected with Aiden's face, he collapsed onto the ground.

Jayden was gobsmacked. "What just happened?"

Austin boasted, " The wind from my punch knocked him to the ground," as he performed a victory pose.

Jayden couldn't help but think his new friends were kinda comical.

Jayden's ear twitched. "Please go away so I can get up already." It was barely a whisper but Jayden somehow heard it.

"Get up, Aiden. We know you're awake." Aiden tried feigning being passed out but once he saw Austin's foot coming towards his face, he instantly jumped up, earning a roar of laughter from Jayden and Austin. "Works every time!"

They walked back to the gates, where Jayden said his goodbyes and got into the car.

"Good afternoon, Young Master."

"Hi, Gerald. Where's Davina?"

" She left about ten minutes ago, looking for you. Oh, there she is."

Davina came back with a defeated expression.

"I couldn't find...." "BOO!!!"

Davina screamed and jumped out of the car. Jayden burst out in laughter.

"JAYDEN!!!!"

"Sorry, I just wanted to see your reaction."

Gerald cracked a smile. 'Kids,' he thought to himself as he drove them back home.

During the whole ride, Jayden kept his hand in his blazer. Davina for the first time noticed his outfit and smiled.

"Why are you smiling?"

"Why did you dress as if you're going for a job interview?"

Jayden was speechless.

"Hey, I noticed you've been keeping your hand in your blazer. Are you hurt?"

"No, I'm okay." Jayden was sweating slightly.

'What if she pulls it out to see for herself? Dad will think I got into a fight on the first day, which will end up with my butt getting whipped!'

Gerald parked the car at the castle and Jayden rushed out, hand still covered by the blazer.

He entered his room and locked the door, then went to the bathroom. He proceeded to remove his bandage for self inspection.

'Huh? I thought it was worse than this?' The bones had pierced through his skin, he knew it. But now his skin was intact, though the bones still were oddly bent.

'Nah, I was imagining things. But then where did the blood come from?'

The pondering had to pause as the butler, Gerald, knocked on the door.

"Young Master, dinner is served." " I'm not coming down tonight, I have quite a lot of assignments to complete. Can my food be brought up here, please?"

"As you wish,sir."

After dinner and homework, Jayden looked out the window.

'The first crescent moon of June.'

The weather outside was quite nice, so he left both windows and curtains open.

As soon as he laid his head on the bed he fell asleep.

A ray of moonlight shone on him, or more specifically, his broken hand.

Instantly, his hands started to heal, and it looked good as new.
