A man was taking an evening stroll, with his earphones on.
As he walked, suddenly the street lights turned off. Of course, the man didn't notice.
When the video he was watching ended, he looked up to see he was in darkness.
"Bloody lights!" He exclaimed. "Where are the electricians when this kind of thing happens?"
He turned on the light on his phone and resumed his walk.
In the shadows, a darker shadow dashed past from behind him.
The man, who was listening to a song now, stopped abruptly. He could no longer hear from the left earphone.
At that moment he saw the cord fall and he realized it had been broken. " These guys are frauds. Never buy from them again."
He proceeded to video call a friend, and they chatted about random things.
The friend said," Hey dude, you do know that cutting your earphones won't make them Airpods, right?"
"Huh? I can't hear you."
The friend pointed at his ears and he realized both of them had broken.
He felt a slight breeze move behind him. All his senses went on high alert. A chill ran down his spine and he had this feeling of being watched.
'It couldn't be, right? Were my earphones breaking just a coincidence?' He slowly turned around but saw nothing. His friend froze. He typed," There's something behind you!"
Suddenly, there was a swish, the sound of something cutting through air and a deep gash was left on the man's cheek. He started to run.
He had barely run ten steps when he was caught by the legs and pulled down. He was horrified and tried to break out of the grip to no avail.
He started to scream, " Help! Anyone!! Help me!!"as he was dragged to a nearby tree.
Seconds later, he was left hanging, with four slashes on this throat. On the phone, the friend was so shocked he forgot to cut the call and alert the police. The phone was picked up and broken in half, then thrown away.

The next morning, Jayden woke up and performed a set of pushups, as was his routine.
After that, he took a bath. While combing his hair, memories of the previous day resurfaced.
"Wasn't my hand broken? If yes, then why is it in perfect shape?"
Jayden panicked." This is really bad....no..abnormal! Its a good thing I didn't let Davina see this, but what will I tell my friends? That my hand magically healed overnight?"
Jayden groaned in frustration. Adrian knocked on the door and walked in.
"Morning, son." "Habari za asubuhi, baba."
Adrian was surprised, "What?" "It's Kiswahili for 'How is your morning, father?' "
Jayden smiled upon seeing the look of confusion on Adrian's face, " My Linguistics teacher taught me five years ago. "
Adrian looked around, then slowly asked, " So, how was your first day?"
Jayden replied," Great! I even made new friends. Two, actually. "
Adrian looked at him with a weird smile." Nobody...commented about your outfit yesterday? "
"Nope, none that I know of." Adrian thought,' From what I know about those two, the most likely one to talk about it today would be Aiden.'
"Alright then. Oh yeah, before I forget, I'll be going on a business trip of a few months, so unfortunately I won't be there for your birthday. But I will make up for it somehow."
"It's okay Dad, I understand."
Adrian walked over to him and ruffled his hair, which earned him a glare from Jayden.
" I just combed that hair!!"
Adrian laughed and left the room.
"Its not my fault my hair looks better than yours," he mumbled. A voice rang out from downstairs, "I heard that!"

Jayden got into class six minutes before class started. He was pissed. Davina couldn't stop ridiculing him because of the outfit he wore yesterday. 'What is wrong with her!? '
He was surprised to see Aiden and Austin already there.
"Congratulations for finally coming to school early, boys." Jayden said with a smile as he sat down. Aiden retorted, " What makes you think we are always late?"
"From the way the teacher looked at you yesterday, it was obvious that it's a common occurrence."
It was then than Jayden noticed someone was sitting beside Austin. It was a girl, with wavy blonde hair. She had her back turned towards him so he couldn't see her face, but his gut feeling told him she was a beauty.
Aiden noticed Jayden's interest in the girl from the way he kept staring at her, and smiled.
"Where are my manners? Jayden, let me introduce you to the third person in our friendship circle. This is Maya, the Ice Queen of the class. Maya, this is Jayden. He's our new friend.
" Hi, nice to meet you," Jayden said as he reached out his hand for a handshake. But she didn't even turn to look at him. She responded with a perfunctory "Hi," and left it at that.
Jayden retracted his arm awkwardly. Austin laughed and said, " Come on Maya, the pretty boy wants to shake hands." "Maybe some other time."
"Ouch, that must hurt." Aiden struggled not to laugh.
"Anyway," Aiden began,"there's something that's been bugging me since yesterday."
He turned to look at Jayden. "Why did you attend school in a suit yesterday?"
Austin couldn't hold back any longer and burst out laughing.
Jayden's face turned beet red. He couldn't answer that one.
Jayden then heard a silent giggle coming from somewhere. It sounded feminine. He noticed it was coming from Maya.
His face turned even more red ( if that was even possible ). Now he was embarrassed more than ever cause even Maya found it ridiculous.
Aiden smiled, "But dude, what exactly were you thinking? You were expecting it to be like a job interview or something?" Austin laughed harder.
A female's voice spoke, "Alright, that's enough. Leave him alone." Immediately Aiden and Austin shut up. Jayden was surprised. ' Don't tell me.....they're scared of Maya?'
Aiden then asked, "Hey, how's your hand?" as he lifted it for inspection. Jayden was caught unawares and he forgot to scream.
Aiden exclaimed, " That's impossible! How did it heal!?" Austin was shocked as well. " It what!? How did that happen?"
Jayden stared at them in silence. He was cooking up a lie.
" Uh.....my father took me to the doctor as soon as I got home. He's a professional, so he managed to rearrange the bones. I'm on an an aesthetic so I don't feel the pain while my bones fully recover. "
"Oh alright," Aiden replied. "I almost thought you magically healed overnight or something."
Austin said, " As expected of a guy with cotton wool padding instead of brains."
And they immediately began a cursing session.
