Classes were over. Everyone filed out of their classrooms for their extracurriculars.
Jayden was wondering what Maya's face looked like.
'She's always covering her face with her hair, why? She sounds beautiful. Maybe she doesn't want us to see just how beautiful she is?'
Unbeknownst to him, the reason why her face was covered was because Aiden and Austin had told her about him. And when they told her he was part of their group, she became apprehensive. 'Who knows what he'll do to me?'
Maya had moments in which she'd become paranoid, even over small things. And nobody wants a paranoid beauty. Fortunately for her, she had friends in Austin and Aiden, who didn't care about that and accepted her as she was, even helping her deal with it. Her confidence was at its peak whenever those two were around.
But now that there's someone new in the circle, she wasn't so sure she and Jayden would hit it off as well. So she avoided him.
At the field, Coach Armstrong yelled at the team, "Alright boys, on the thirtieth of June, we have a match. So I'm going to select the players who will participate through a series of trials. Good luck!"
For maximum performance, the coach asked the girls to come and spectate the training.
Each of them was made to run two laps and a hundred pushups. The boys all did their best. During the race, the girls screamed as Ethan dashed past everyone in the race. Ethan had a smile on his face.
Jayden, who was running with Austin and Ethan, spoke,"Payback time!" His speed suddenly increased and in no time he had caught up to Ethan. He smiled and said, "Kiss my ass, knucklehead," and dashed in front, intentionally kicking sand into Ethan's eyes.
Ethan slowed down because of the dust, causing everyone to go right past him.
'Dirty cheating bastard!' He thought to himself.
"One Hundred Pushups! If anyone stops, minus a point!"
Jayden was in front of Ethan, and so Ethan pulled his leg. Austin saw this and silently alerted Coach Armstrong.
"Ethan!! What on earth are you doing?!"
Right about now Ethan looked like a kid who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
"For cheating, that's minus 2 points!"
Ethan was enraged. Jayden looked at him and smirked.
'I'm gonna annoy you to death!'
When they had finished, Armstrong said, " Alright, last exercise. Death Crawl. 20 yards!"
One of the players yelled, "Twenty yards!? We can barely handle ten!"
Armstrong clapped back, "If you don't want to, just say so and you won't play on June 30."
The guy shut up.
The Death Crawl is when a player carries another on his back while on all fours, with his knees off the ground. The player on to has to exert all his weight onto the one carrying him.
So you can only imagine the horror Aiden felt when Austin, the hunk of muscle, asked a lean guy like him to carry him.
Ethan then asked the coach to be paired up with Jayden, to which he agreed.
'Let's see if he'll perform another miracle.'
Maya, who was sitting in the stands with the other girls, was curious to see how Jayden would fare.
'The two boneheads claimed he performed near supernatural feats. Let's see if he will do it again.'
At this point Maya had removed the hair from her face so she could get a better view. If Jayden had looked at the stands, he would have seen her. Unfortunately, the idiot didn't, which disappointed Maya a bit.
Jayden carried Ethan, who did his best to put all his weight on Jayden. Jayden passed the ten yard mark without breaking a sweat. Almost everyone failed before passing thirteen yards.
Austin yelled, "What's he doing?"
Everyone turned to see Jayden was still going. While they were wondering, they heard Ethan say, "Don't worry buddy, just ten more left to make it twenty." He was counting on Jayden not being able to see to make him suffer, but to his surprise, Jayden kept going, not showing signs of slowing down.
"What kind of freakish stamina does this kid have?"
Ethan had a huge smile on his face as the closed his eyes.
A resounding slap rang out.
Ethan fell off Jayden, with blood in his mouth.
Austin was enraged. "You lied to my friend and made him pass the intended limit."
Aiden walked over, rage evident in his eyes. "Mess with our friend, you're messing with us."
Ethan got up, towering over them. Jayden, angered by the revelation, got up as well. He stared straight into Ethan's eyes. For some reason, Ethan felt as though Jayden was a predator ready to devour, and he was the prey.
Jayden took a step forward and Ethan stepped back. "You...lied...to.....me..."
Jayden was livid. His vision turned slightly red as he continued, "I never did anything to you. You came up to me. You hurt me."
The field was silent. It was as if Jayden's anger influenced everyone around him, cause they all looked to the ground in guilt.
Ethan had never felt this kind of fear in his whole life. He tried to run.
Jayden yelled, "Will you stop already!?"
Ethan felt himself lose control over his own body ad he stopped. He knew that running would only increase Jayden's anger, and it seemed as if his body knew that too.
"You broke my hand, so its only right that I break yours."
This had gone on too long. Coach Armstrong called out, "Greystone, calm down. Leave him be."
Jayden replied, "I want to, Coach. I really do. But unfortunately," Jayden turned to look at Ethan, "I'm a vengeful person."
He reached out his arm with lightning speed held Ethan's hand, before crushing it with all his might. Ethan's scream reverberated throughout the field, and he passed out from pain.
Jayden looked at the terrified players. "He'll suffer more than just broken bones," he said.
"His pride is broken too."
Jayden walked off, and Aiden followed, along with Austin.
As everyone looked at him leaving, they had one thing in mind.
'He's a beast.'
