Chapter 13 - The Night Of The Full Moon

Jayden's headache intensified. He was struggling to comprehend the matter.

His face instantly paled the moment he thought of his friends.

'I can't let them get involved in this. They mean so much to me. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if they got hurt because of me.'

He heard a light knock on the door, but to him, it was quite loud.

Erica spoke, "Jayden, wake up. It's time to go."

Jayden replied, "I'll be there in a minute."

A few minutes later, Jayden went downstairs after organizing his thoughts.

Erica and Davina were waiting for him in the car, as well as their butler, Gerald.

Jayden got into the car and Erica motioned for Gerald to start the car.

After a while, Davina noticed everyone was quiet. Jayden, who was supposed to be excited, was sulking in the seat.

"Jayden, what's wrong? Aren't you supposed to have that child-like excitement tonight? Its your birthday and your debut match, for crying out loud!"

"And its also the Full Moon," Jayden muttered under his breath.

"What?" Davina didn't quite hear what he said. "It's nothing. My debut match! Yay!" Jayden tried to smile, but even a fool would be able to see that he wasn't in the mood for laughs.

'I wonder what's going on with him,' Davina thought to herself as she went silent.

Erica was on her phone, typing a message.

[What do I do when Jayden turns?]

[Let him be. He has a perfect target to satiate his bloodlust with.]

[You want me to let your son go on a rampage?]

[No, I want him to remove a plague from the city our family built. I want him to erase the Scorpion Gang from existence.]

Erica sighed as she looked at Jayden, who seemed to be slightly irritated by even the slightest sound.

Gary spoke into his communicator, "Is everyone in position?"

"Yes sir, we are at the institution, blended within the crowd, as per orders."

"Good. Make sure you keep your sights on the Greystone kid."

"Affirmative, Chief."

Scorpion Gang Base

Bill ordered, " I want men stationed at the school now. We must get the kid before the game starts."

"Yes boss!" The gangsters replied in unison.

Bill turned to Ethan, who was sitting on a swivel chair. "You remember the plan?"

Ethan replied, "Of course. I made it."

Three cars, filled with 8 gangsters each, left the base. A fourth car, containing Bill and Ethan, followed shortly after.

Ethan had a wicked grin on his face as he thought, 'Your only backing isn't there. Who will save you from me now?' He looked at his amputated robotic hand. 'Tonight, I'll put you to good use.'

The Greystones finally arrived. Jayden dashed to the locker room.

When he got there, the team had just finished changing, and were ready to go.

"Wait!" Jayden said, his voice sounding slightly off. Aiden replied, "Don't worry, you can come later! Its not a disgrace! Change first."

Jayden looked at him as if he was about to kill him.

Aiden awkwardly smiled and said, " But if you want me to stay , I don't mind. The game isn't till 20:30, anyway."

Before Jayden had even started, Ethan came in. "Jayden, can I talk to you for a moment?"

Aiden said, "Whatever you want to say, say it now and get out!"

Jayden couldn't agree more.

"Sorry, but this isn't exactly the correct place to talk. What do you think the boys will say if we were caught in here? Just the three of us?"

Aiden gritted his teeth. "He has a point, Jayden."

Ethan beckoned them to follow him. He led them to the woodlot beside the field. Jayden was suspicious now, and so was Aiden.

"Why are we in the woodlot? I can't think of any reason for you to call us here. Its not just to talk, is it?"

Ethan smiled,"Spot on, Aiden! You always were the smart one. I didn't bring you here just to talk. Boys!"

Sixteen burly men came out from behind the trees. Each armed with knives, batons and others with bare fists. Bringing a gun to kidnap a teenager was overkill.

Jayden's anger rose higher. His mind was filled with rage and his vision turned slightly red.

Slowly, his anger was taking over him, consuming his mind and body. Jayden let out a loud yell and leaped toward one of the bare fisted men.

The man, cursing at Jayden for his stupidity, threw out a punch. Jayden threw his own to match the man's and everyone heard the sound of bones breaking, followed by a scream of pain. The man fell on his knees, tears in his eyes. Jayden showed no mercy, and swung his palm at his neck. Blood spurted out and the man fell to the ground, his eyes lifeless.

The gangsters were even more determined to take him down now. They all rushed at him from all sides, leaving him with no escape.

Jayden let it a low, menacing growl that sent shivers running down their spines.

He leapt above them, sinking his fingers into a tree trunk, than jumped back at them. Now having broken out of the circle, Jayden attacked them with unreal speed. The gangsters had never seen anyone with this much bloodlust before. Blood soon dyed the grass red.

Aiden and Ethan were gaping their mouths in shock, witnessing a massacre take place, as one teenager brutally killed sixteen adult men.

One of the detectives sitting in the stands, heard a shrill scream coming out of the woodlot. He spoke into his communicator, "I heard a scream. Its coming from the woodlot. Shall I look into it?"

Gary's voice replied, "All detectives in position, move with Detective Drake."

The eleven detectives moved into the woodlot.

Gary got into his car with Ramsey Parker in tow, and they drove to the school.

Jayden was soaked in the blood of his victims. Aiden called out, "Jayden, buddy, you still in there?"

Jayden turned to look at them. His back was slightly hunched. His ears were pointed, and sharp claws were dangling from his fingers. His four canines had elongated, and his eyes were glowing a bright gold.

Ethan, thinking out of instinct, started to run. That turned out to be his downfall, as Jayden immediately pounced on him, covering a ten meter gap with one leap. He caught him by the legs, tearing at his ankles.

Ethan fell down and started to scream for help, while the bloody Jayden dragged him by the feet, his claws fully sunk into Ethan's legs.

Aiden started brainstorming in his mind.

'My best friend turned into a beast! Well, partly, but that's not the point! I must find a way yo knock him out! Now!'

He looked around and found a baton belonging to one of the gang members.

He picked it up and found another one.

Jayden clawed at Ethan's arms and chest. He raised his clawed hand, about to finish him off, when he felt an acute pain in his arm.

Aiden struck him again, with even more force. Jayden turned to look at him, his eyes even brighter than before.

"Oh crap!" Aiden swung his baton again, but this time Jayden avoided it and stuck it with his bare hand, snapping it in half. Aiden started walking backwards and fell on the ground. Jayden jumped on him, but Aiden channeled all the energy he could muster into his legs and kicked him off.

Jayden got up again and growled at Aiden, then almost instantly let out a yelp of pain. Ethan had miraculously managed to get up and had sunk a knife into Jayden's side.

He sank another into his stomach, and started to stab him furiously.

Aiden yelled, "What are you doing!? You'll kill him!"

Ethan replied angrily, " This beast didn't hesitate to kill them, and it won't hesitate to kill us!"

Jayden took note of Ethan's slight drop in concentration and used that fraction of time to swing his clawed hands across Ethan's stomach, nearly ripping it apart. Jayden struck him on the face, sending Ethan flying onto the ground.

When he turned around, he saw a heavy stone slamming into his face, and he was knocked out cold.

Aiden panted, gasping for breath. At that moment, he saw torchlights flashing, and he heard voices yelling, "This way!" Aiden lifted Jayden over his shoulder, and made a run for it.

One of the detectives noticed someone was missing. "Hey guys, where's Larry?"

Their coms vibrated, and a voice sounded, "Detective Larry speaking. I've found the source of the scream. I'm at the area right now. To the eastern side of the woodlot. Request for backup."

All the detectives headed to the east, abandoning their original destination, which was in fact, the true origin of the scream.

At the eastern part of the woodlot, a man could be seen lying on the ground, with his throat slit. A figure with red eyes, covered in shadows, broke the communicator.

His nose detected the scent of blood. The figure faded into the shadows just as the detectives arrived on scene.

Ethan was hanging onto his last breath. 'I.....don't...want....to...die....,' he sobbed.

The place became darker, and Ethan saw a figure walking toward him.

What struck him the most was the figure's blood red eyes.

The figure spoke, "Do you want to live?" "..... Yes.... I ....do..."

Ethan's strength was slowly leaving him.

"I can help you. But in exchange, you will become a part of my pack. Your life won't belong to you anymore, but to me. Do you accept?"

Ethan nodded slowly.

"As you wish, " the figure said as it lifted his arm, and sank its teeth into it.
