Fifteen years had passed. Jayden had grown to be quite the stunner. There was a problem however.....he had nobody to stun with the superb good looks he so proudly possessed.
While others went to school, he'd be at home, being taught by very expensive private tutors.
So by no means was he behind his peers in terms of education. One thing stood out: his memory.
Jayden was able to recall word for word every lesson he had been taught from at least five years back, a feat that shocked his teachers greatly.
Now, he stood in front of the mirror. 'Isn't this the definition of perfection?' He asked himself as he admired himself.
His ear twitched as he heard the distinct sound of office shoes climbing up the stairs.
Jayden was surprised. ' Only Dad wears office shoes, and even then, his feet are nearly silent. So why does it sound like he's right next to me?'
Seconds later, his father came in. "Morning, Ares."
Jayden greeted him back and asked him why he made such loud sounds with his shoes.
Adrian went silent, deep in thought. 'Its starting. But I cant tell him now..'
Adrian answered, " Sorry about that," he said. " Uh, Jayden, why aren't you dressed for school yet?"
"I've just woken up, why?"
" Idiot, today's your first day of high school! "
"I learn at home, so why do I need to....." Jayden went silent as reality set in.
He rushed into his bathroom and came out in exactly three minutes. Adrian wondered if he bathed correctly. Two minutes later, Jayden stood before his father.
" How do I look?"
"Did you apply lotion?"
"Uh, no?" Jayden rushed again and Adrian couldn't help but smile.
'Chip off the old block,' he chuckled to himself.
Jayden came back in the best outfit he had, in his opinion.
"Uh.....isn't there anything else you can wear?" Adrian was doubting the credibility of Jayden's fashion sense.
" Nah, this one's good enough."
"(Sigh)... If you say so," Adrian said with uncertainty in his voice.
Ten minutes later, he dashed to the car, where Erica and someone else were waiting for him.
This someone else was Erica's daughter, Davina. She was a stunning beauty, just like her mother. The only problem was, she had a tongue comparable to a hundred year old sage who dedicated his life to the art of trash talk.
Jayden often bore the brunt of her rage whenever she got mad, so he knew first hand how it felt. There was even a time he contemplated suicide after one of those outbursts. He thanked his lucky stars she had calmed down recently.
As Erica started the car, she asked, " Jayden, you have your bag with you, right?" knowing full well he had forgotten it.
He returned after ten more minutes. Davina was furious. " How could you forget something as important as a bag!?" She berated him for a good minute before Erica said, "Okay, that's enough. Let's not forget that unlike you, Jayden has never gone out of the house his whole life. Its his first time, therefore its normal to forget something."
Davina calmed down but Erica continued, " Don't you remember the day you were so nervous you forgot to wear your undies?"
Jayden couldn't hold his laughter back any longer and let loose.
A slap on the head was enough for him to remember the identity of the girl he was laughing at.
They barely made it to school on time.
"Thanks for making us late, Dear cousin!" Jayden retorted, " Hey, its not my fault I was nervous."
They said their goodbyes as they left the car and went to register into their classes.
Jayden was ecstatic when he found out he wasn't in Davina's class. He didn't bother hiding the fact he was overjoyed, which annoyed Davina somewhat.
Jayden's classroom was down the hallway. As he walked down the hallway, he noticed people were staring at him.
He heard a girl whispering, "Who's the new guy? He's dreamy." Another replied, " Definitely boyfriend material. "
Jayden had one thing in his mind, ' Either my my hearing is very good or they are terrible whisperers.' As he placed his hand on the door, the bells rang, signifying the starting of classes. For some reason, Jayden's ears started to ring, and he felt a tremendous headache.
'What's going on?' He almost yelled out loud.
The door then opened and his eyes met with that of the teacher's. He was grateful that the pain had subsided before the teacher saw him, otherwise he wouldn't know how to react.
The teacher's eyes slightly widened, but he quickly regained composure and said, "Come in, I've been expecting you."
"Class, this is our new student, Jayden Greystone. Mr Greystone, you may pick any empty seat."
Jayden nodded stiffly, trying his best to avoid the gazes of the fifty students in the room. He saw two empty seats at the corner of the room and went over.
Just as he sat down, two students came in. Each of them was around Jayden's height, with one of them more muscular than the other. The leaner one spoke," Sorry sir, I had a few problems on my way here." " How about you?" The teacher asked the muscular student, who said, "I met a few problems on my way here with him."
The other one retorted, "Dude, we met each other at the door, since when did we come here together?"
The teacher sighed, " Go sit down, you two."
Jayden started wishing, " Please don't come here!!"
Unfortunately for him, they were headed his way.
"Hi, you're new here aren't you?" The lean one asked. "I'm Aiden. This muscle head here is Austin."
Jayden replied," Yes, I am new. I'm Jayden."
The one named Austin said," Don't worry about my seat, you can sit on it." He turned to the one in front of Jayden and tapped lightly on his shoulder.
The kid turned angrily, but when he saw it was Austin, he smiled, pucked his bag, and walked to another empty seat, thanking his lucky stars he didn't say anything.
'Is he a bully?' Jayden started to worry. As if he read his mind, Austin said, " I know what you're thinking, but I'm not a bully. I didn't even say anything, see? "
Aiden chimed in, " That's someone else's spot, and he sat there because the person who sits there didn't feel like coming to school today."
"Jayden, I feel a future friendship forming between you and us. Wanna be friends?" Aiden held out his hand. Jayden looked at it for a second and shook it. He smiled. For the first time ever, hh was going to have not one friend, but two.
