" SHUT THE FUCK UP! Lycans are tales now!"
King Lucerys shouted at his guard in despair. Although he denied the words, fears morphed on his features. He looked slightly panicked and scared.
Everett lifted her hazel eyes through the veil. She saw fear in her father's eyes. Ever since she grew up, it was possibly the first time that she saw him getting afraid. The other guests of the venue were panicked by the news. They all had stood up already in fear. Only Lord Edgar remained calm. Anyone could misunderstand, thinking that he was calm because he could handle the lycans. In reality, he wasn't clear headed yet. Thus he couldn't decipher the consequences of lycans in their kingdom.
The guard once again stressed on his statement, looking up at King Lucerys worriedly,
" It's true..my king..They are close. We don't have time."
This time, King Lucerys let out a bark, striding down from the stairs,
" HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? I KILLED..."
He stopped from whatever he was going to spout. His awkward pause made Everett worried. She noticed the change in her father's tone. Before King Lucerys could scold the guard more, another figure emerged from the doorway. It was the chief guard, Harry who entered in a rush to tell the news. He bowed to the king first before telling,
" It's true, my king! The Lycans..they are here.."
That one news was enough to turn the wedding venue into mascara. All the guests ran away to save their lives. Even Edgar was dragged out by his people, leaving his bride-to-be alone at her position. King Lucerys fell in panic and ordered the guards to hold the gate.
Only Everett stayed paralyzed at her steps. She felt hopeless to see the wedding venue without her groom. Why was she always unlucky? Even her sisters were missing from there. She couldn't have the heart to leave her father alone at this moment. Although King Lucerys never played the role of father for her, she chose to stay.
King Lucerys was shouting at his guards. They all shielded the gate, vouching to destroy anything which will try to enter the castle. Everett saw the horror on the guard's faces as well. With her little knowledge, she understood that they had no chance of winning.
Princess Everett stepped down from her wedding stage, came to her father who was watching on the gate,
" Father! Let's go from here! He might kill you. Why don't we escape through the back door?"
King Lucerys snapped at Everrett, growling proudly,
" He is just a useless thing! I am the king here. I won't ever give him my throne. You go inside, Everrett. We will definitely destroy him today."
For some reason, Everrett couldn't trust his father's words today. She refused to leave and stood by his side. Part of her felt though she was the bad luck of this dynasty like everyone said.
The wind howled crazily outside. It wasn't clear whether it was the weather or the magic that turned the weather into a storm. In a few moments, the whole Vassal Dynasty fell into darkness as if the sun was afraid of coming out. Even the mountains couldn't shield the Royal Castle from the power of winds. All the eyes were stuck on the gate, expecting to see a bunch of knights. Instead of any silhouettes, multiple pairs of red eyes appeared out of the darkness with a snarling growl.
King Lucerys broke into cold sweat. Even Everett looked scared as well. She hid behind her father and watched the animals, stepping closer in horror. The chief of the guards shouted at the intruders, keeping his voice loud and clear,
" We have no grudges against you!! What do you want from us?? GO BACK!!"
One..two..three..four...
More than fifteen Lycans appeared out of the darkness with their giant body. All of them were growling, making the sound of hunger and murderous instinct. King Lucerys snorted coldly, glaring at the Lycans who were only a few steps away from the gate,
" They can't come in, Lucien. This isn't their territory. Werewolves can't enter without permission from the owner."
His father's words brought relief to Everett's face. But it was for a while until a deep, enchanting voice echoed from the side of the wolves, leaving everyone stunned,
" Not our territory? I will see who can't enter this castle, King Lucerys."
As soon as the voice rang from the darkness, the wolves went on both sides, opening a path for the person. All had their heads bowing a little as a sign of submission. Everyone held their breath down including King Lucerys who worriedly stared at the way.
A shadow emerged out of the darkness. As everyone expected it to be a Lycan, it turned out to be a human silhouette. The man stood keeping his head high, his red eyes holding a mockery. All the Lycans surrounded him, each one of them keeping a safe distance. Everett watched the man with horror in her eyes. Although the man was perfectly young, his charming face was enough to catch everyone's attention. He had a sharp jaw, straight nose and a fair skin, matching the black curls on his head. Even the attire that he had worn was giving off a murderous glint.
The man added with a mocking smile, one of his hands going down to pat a Lycan,
" Do we need permission to enter our own territory, King Lucerys?"
A surprised gasp escaped the king's lips. He pointed his finger at the man in horror, visibly shaking. He stuttered in disbelief, staggering back,
" You...you....how...how is this possible? You..you were...dead..I saw...I saw your body..."
Everett was left with clueless questions. She kept looking between the men in the distance and her father. What were they talking about? How could their territory become their castle? Did her father really do something bad to this man?
On his remarks, the man among the Lycans stretched his lips into a knowing smirk. He replied with a malicious grin, looking at King Lucerys,
" Long time huh! Tell me, whom should I kill first?"
