On Logan's way back to Daemon's pack, he felt he was sure about the whole rejection thing.
'She's a rouge, she won't seem like anything but weakness' he said internally, as if he was reassuring himself and his wolf
But he still felt a pang in his chest anytime he thought about rejecting her again, maybe it was because she already accepted him, or maybe it was because of the attraction he felt to her and how it felt like he wasn't going to find a better-looking woman who will rile him up like this woman does
After all, her scent alone got his wolf all up and about since their meet-up
But accepting her wasn't something he felt he should do too, he was already seeming weak as his pack didn't have enough wealth to counter some packs, and finding a mate who didn't have a solid background or ability was only going to throw him way down the social ladder
Can she even ride a horse? How many years has she spent being a rogue? How embedded is the rogue lifestyle in her? How did she even become a rogue?
Before he knew it, many questions that were big enough to spike his curiosity flooded his brain…
As he covered up his and her traces, he thought about how he was going to go back to where they met before the two-hour time frame elapsed, reject her, and never look back. He thought about how hard it might be if she remained adamant and how he was going to make sure she accepts his rejection, no matter worth
He also thought about how his deal might get fucked up if Alpha Lucas knows his mate is a rogue, in particular, the rogue that came to steal in his pack, and how just that fact might lead to another run down, especially if Lucas decides to find her before he goes back…
As he was getting to the clearing, he saw Elias walking at a fast pace toward him
"What's wrong?" he asked when they got close
"We have been looking for you" Elias replied, after a curt nod
"What happened?" Logan asked but before Elias could reply or even say anything else, Alpha Lucas came walking toward them
"Where have you been Alpha Logan?" Lucas asked before he closed the distance between them, a false smile etched on his face as he accessed Logan
Elias immediately stood between Logan and Lucas, not allowing Lucas to get too close to his Alpha, his reasons unknown to neither Lucas nor Logan
"You said I could take a walk around, and that's what I did," Logan said, as he sidestepped Elias so he could get a proper look at Lucas
He didn't like the tone Alpha Lucas used with him actually, it sounded rude and condescending, almost like he suspects him of something
"Oh really?" Lucas asked, as he bore a hole into Logan's eyes, he couldn't help but feel like the Alpha was keeping something from him, he also felt a bit stupid for allowing an Alpha from another pack to roam around his pack
'What if he has mastered my pack's territory? I can't put that past him, he's one of the most feared Alphas for a reason' he thought as he looked from Elias to Logan
"Yes really, you gave me permission, I needed the space to clear my head, and if you are worried about your pack's map, I didn't do anything, I don't have the time for that, I even need us to close this deal as soon as possible, I have to get going before it gets dark"
"Okay then," Lucas said, reading into every single word that came out of the Alpha's mouth, and when he saw that there was nothing to fear, he released a breath he didn't know he was holding and then walked towards the meeting room with Elias and Logan in tow
With every step they took closer to the meeting room, Elias grew weary and thought of ways to avoid the impending storm
He thought of how he was going to tell his Alpha that close, he could pick up a rogue scent from him. If the pack's Alpha or warriors pick the same scent from an Alpha that came to sign a deal, it is going to cause a rift.
In truth, he also wanted to know how his Alpha got that filthy scent on him, the pack had a break-in rogue issue minutes ago, did he meet the rogue? Did he catch it? If he did, where is the rogue?
"Sorry I left you like that Alpha Logan, I had to go attend to an urgent matter," Alpha Lucas said as they entered the meeting room
Logan noticed that his Delta had two burly men standing behind him immediately they entered the room but as he and Lucas had their seats, the men gave cut nods to their Alpha and left the room
"It's fine, I understand" Logan replied as he rubbed his hands together, mindfully calculating the time spent and how he was going to go back to the pack's outskirts without raising alarms
It was in moments like this he wished pack connections work in other pack's territory. If it does, he would've asked Elias if he knows his way around the pack enough to take him to where he met his mate, after all, he brought him along because he has vast knowledge about Lucas's pack and its surrounding lands
"Stuff like this doesn't happen. I can't even remember the last time we had a rogue issue, I wonder why she had to break in today of all days" Lucas said heaving a sign as he brought out his felt pen
"Days like this, the bad days" was all Logan could say as his mind wandered to why it had to be today of all days
'Fate, I guess' was his conclusion
"How about twenty percent Alpha Logan, you are a busy man, and I have things to clear out with my people," Lucas said, rolling his pen between his thumb and second finger
"I really wish you would see things from my end Alpha Lucas, if I drop twenty, I won't be able to successfully carry out this deal, it won't even be beneficial to you," Logan said, subtly considering the twenty percent
He concluded that if Lucas wasn't going to give up soon, he would drop the twenty percent, sign the contract, and find a way around his mate issues
"I don't understand, could you…" Lucas was saying, before a heavy breeze that signifies rain blew into the room, and as it blew across him, it carried along with it a fowl smell and an Alpha scent, the type of combo that got his nostril flared and his brain clock ticking hard
"Rain," Logan said, acknowledging the breeze and the immediate change in climate "I need to get going soon, so I can reach a shelter before the rain starts," he said, looking between the sky from outside, to his Delta and Elias and to Lucas who had a strange twinge in his eyes
Elias recognized the twinge and he immediately got ready for defense while moving slowly toward Arthur
