Chapter 8 - Adapting to a New Reality

Despite the cover-up story, the grief and sorrow remained strong in the hearts of those who knew Ji-woo and Evans. The news had spread like wildfire, and soon everyone in the city knew about the tragedy that had occurred.

Many expressed their condolences and shared their memories of the young couple, while others expressed their outrage and demanded justice for the victims.

Meanwhile, Hee-Joon and his family were settling into their new life in Bucheon. They had found a small apartment in a quiet neighborhood, far from the chaos and danger of the city. The baby had been growing quickly and was now three months old, and Ji-woo had been working hard to provide for him.

Ji-woo had sacrificed her awakened abilities in order to heal her child, leaving her vulnerable to any potential threats.

Meanwhile, Evans status was still unknown as he remained in recovery. However, he made a vow to himself that even if he still possessed his abilities, he would not use them in public until his child was mature enough as he knew the dangers of revealing his powers to the world.

Despite his physical weakness, Evans' determination remained strong. He promised to do everything in his power to uncover the truth behind the attack on the hospital and find the culprit responsible for the loss of Ji-woo and the trauma inflicted upon his family.

He knew that the journey ahead would be difficult, but he was willing to face any obstacles and overcome any challenges to bring justice to those who had suffered.

With his baby in his arms, he felt a sense of responsibility to protect and provide for them, and he was determined to do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

As Evans sat in front of the television with his wife beside him, watching the global news, his heart sank as he heard the announcement regarding his guild. He and his wife had dedicated their lives to building and leading the Peace Guild, with Evans as the Guild leader and his wife as the Vice Guild leader.

"It's very disheartening to see, our life work go out of our hands," Evans with a deep voice said.

"Indeed, It is" Ji-Woo replied.

But now, with Evans missing and his wife declared dead, the shares of the guild were mostly with the shareholders. As a result, it was decided that they would be changing the Guild leader to a potential candidate who would be willing to take up the responsibility.

Despite his frustration, Evans knew that he couldn't blame the shareholders for their decision. After all, they had invested a lot of money into the guild and they needed someone to lead it.

However, he couldn't help but wonder if the new Guild leader would have the same dedication and passion for the guild that he and his wife had. He also wondered if the new leader would be able to uphold the values and principles that the guild stood for.

As I opened my eyes, I felt a bit disoriented, but soon I saw my mother's familiar face and felt relieved. As I started crying, she quickly came over to me and offered me milk.

As I drank it and felt content, I heard a small voice in my head that said,

"Daily task completed, calculating rewards." As I drank it and felt content, I heard a small voice in my head.

"Congratulations, you have earned 5 points for completing your task today!" AI suddenly spoke.

I didn't know what the points were, but I felt excited to have earned something. As I looked around, I noticed that the other stats displayed on the window were no longer all zeros.

My strength had increased to 6, while the other stats had remained at 1 after rewards, except for one extra point that had been added to one of the other stats.

Then another notification popped up:

As Evans approached his baby's crib, he couldn't help but smile at the sight before him. He saw his little one waking up and playing with the toys that were hanging around in the crib.

A sense of peaceful contentment washed over his face as he watched his child's innocent playfulness. At that moment, all the worries he had regarding the Guild and its uncertain future seemed to fade away.

The recent news about the Guild had him worried. However, as he watched his baby's innocent joy, he couldn't help but feel that everything was going to be okay. It was as if the baby's happy presence was enough to chase away any doubts and fears that he had been carrying.

As he continued to watch his child play, he made a silent vow to himself that he would do everything in his power to ensure a safe and prosperous future for his family, no matter what obstacles lay ahead.

As Evans sat on the bed next to his wife, who was sound asleep, he was deep in thought about their financial situation. They had left everything behind when they moved to Seoul, and with only a few months' worth of money left, he knew he needed to find a way to provide for his family.

He couldn't risk accessing any of their accounts or assets, as it would lead to a trail that could put them back in danger. He had to find a job that could provide for them while also allowing them to stay under the radar.

He decided to look for a job in one of the security agencies as a guard. He knew it was a risky move, as his identity was a closely guarded secret, and any background check would reveal his past. But he had no other option as he had already forged a duplicate identity.

He forged his resume and created a fake work experience, making it look like he had previously worked as a guard in a company. With his impressive physique and military training, he was confident he could pass the physical and mental tests required for the job.

It didn't take long for him to land a job as a security guard at a private firm that provided security services to several corporations in the city. The pay wasn't great, but it was enough to cover their living expenses.

With his new job, Evans began to settle into their new life in Seoul. He and his wife continued to keep a low profile, avoiding any unnecessary attention that could bring danger to their doorstep.

But even as he enjoyed these peaceful moments with his family, Evans knew that he couldn't let his guard down. He was determined to find out who was behind the attack on the hospital and bring them to justice.

And until he did, he would keep his true identity hidden, continuing to live his life as a security guard while secretly working to uncover the truth.
