Chapter 14 - Training at Academy

Hee-Joon joined his assigned group, eager to put his newfound knowledge into action. Carefully following Mr. Lee's instructions, Hee-Joon and his group began the practice.

They skillfully distributed the contents of the porter bag, recalling Mr. Lee's guidance. As they successfully completed the task, a sense of accomplishment washed over them.

After completing the demonstration, the instructor gathered the trainees and distributed a set of muscle-building exercises and stamina-building tasks for the duration of their training period.

"These exercises will help you develop the physical strength and endurance needed for the challenges ahead," the instructor explained.

As the trainees received their instructions, Hee-Joon turned to Hyun-Soo, his new acquaintance. "Looks like we've got our work cut out for us," Hee-Joon remarked with a smile.

With a half-hearted smile, Hyun-Soo replied, "Yeah, I'll do my best."

As the first day of training concluded, Hee-Joon bid farewell to Hyun-Soo, who remained uninterested. "Well, we'll be seeing each other every day from now on!" Hee-Joon exclaimed, waving goodbye.

The following six days were dedicated to muscle-building exercises and stamina-building tasks, as assigned by the instructor. Hee-Joon showed up every day with determination and enthusiasm, while Hyun-Soo appeared disinterested and aloof.

Despite the lack of interaction between the two, Hee-Joon continued to push himself and complete his assigned tasks with diligence.

At the end of each day, he would bid farewell to Hyun-Soo, who remained indifferent, lost in his own world. Hee-Joon couldn't help but wonder what was going on in his mind. Nevertheless, he shrugged it off and focused on his own goals.

The week dedicated to learning the intricacies of the porter job seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. As Hee-Joon and his fellow trainees familiarized themselves with the various tasks and responsibilities, their skills gradually improved under the guidance of Instructor Mr. Lee.

At the end of the week, Mr. Lee called the group together, signaling the transition to the next phase of training. He addressed them with a determined expression. "Congratulations on completing the initial training phase."

"Those who have selected other courses can move out, and the rest remain here," Instructor Mr. Lee asked.

Hee-Joon and Hyun-Soo exchanged curious glances. Hee-Joon leaned closer to Hyun-Soo and whispered, "Now what is next?."

Hyun-Soo shrugged, his eyes filled with anticipation. "I guess we'll find out soon enough," he replied.

As Hyun-Soo exited the class and made his way toward the mining facility, Hee-Joon hurriedly followed him, determined to break through his cold exterior. Despite spending a week together, Hyun-Soo remained distant, focused solely on his own tasks.

Among all the students in the training facility, he and Hee-Joon were the only ones of the same age, surrounded by others who seemed to have a significant age gap. This realization fueled Hee-Joon's desire to establish a connection with Hyun-Soo.

As the students entered the class, their eyes were immediately drawn to the sight of various mining equipment neatly arranged in the room. Pickaxes, shovels, and other tools essential for mining tasks were prominently displayed, showcasing the practical aspect of the upcoming training.

Alongside the equipment, several stacks of low-level mana stones were placed strategically, serving as references and examples during the training sessions.

As Hee-Joon stepped into the classroom, he couldn't help but feel the unique atmosphere of the mining facility. The room had a distinct earthy scent mixed with the metallic tang of the tools.

The walls were adorned with posters illustrating different mining techniques and safety guidelines, reminding everyone of the importance of caution and precision in their tasks.

At the front of the class, their instructor, Mr. Kim, a seasoned miner with years of experience, stood patiently, waiting for all the students to gather. Dressed in practical work attire, he exuded a sense of authority and expertise.

His weathered hands and rugged appearance spoke of countless hours spent in the depths of the earth, extracting valuable resources.

The classroom itself was designed to replicate a mining site, complete with simulated tunnels and rock formations. The lighting was dimmer compared to other training areas, simulating the conditions miners often faced deep underground. The air carried a slightly cooler temperature, reminiscent of the chill found in subterranean environments.

Hee-Joon's excitement grew as he observed the immersive setup of the mining facility. It was clear that great care had been taken to create an authentic learning environment.

As the students settled into their seats, Mr. Kim's confident voice filled the room, capturing their attention. Hee-Joon leaned forward, eager to soak up the knowledge to be imparted.

Mr. Kim began his introduction, his voice tinged with a hint of nostalgia.

"Greetings, students. My name is Mr. Kim, and I'll be your instructor for the mining training". Mr. Kim addressed himself.

"I come from a long line of miners, and my own awakening opened up a whole new world of possibilities within the dungeons to explore." Instructor added.

"Today, we will explore the fundamental differences between traditional mining and dungeon mining." Mr. Kim continued.

"You see, in the outside world, miners rely on state-of-the-art machinery and advanced tools to extract resources efficiently. But when it comes to mining within the dungeons, the rules drastically change." the instructor added further.

"Within the dungeon's otherworldly dimensions, conventional machinery loses its efficacy. The magical energies and intricate structures within the dungeons disrupt the functionality of such tools." as Instructor continued with his lecture.

"The pickaxe," Mr. Kim began, his voice carrying a hint of excitement, "is the most reliable tool you'll have within the dungeon. But not just any pickaxe will do. It must be crafted from materials infused with mana crystals, which can only be found within the depths of these domains."

Mr. Kim continued picturing the dungeon to all "Regular pickaxes won't suffice in the dungeon. With a single strike against the unyielding walls, they shatter, leaving you defenseless and unable to extract resources."

However "The mana-infused pickaxe, however, will endure the strain and allow you to chip away at the rocks, extracting precious resources without fear of equipment failure."

With a touch of excitement in his voice, Mr. Kim shared tales of his own experiences within the depths of the dungeons. He spoke of the ancient caverns, teeming with rare minerals and magical crystals waiting to be discovered.

He regaled the class with stories of dangerous encounters with ferocious creatures lurking in the shadows, their lairs brimming with untold treasures and potential dangers.
