Chapter 11 - The Predictable Awakening

As Hee-Joon stood up and went towards the testing facility, he pulled up his status screen for one last look before heading to the test.

He saw his current level, which was only level 5, and all of his stats were centered around that level. His strength was around 21, his agility was 16, his stamina was 18, and his Intelligence was 12. His Mana Power(MP) was currently at 20 based on the points he had allocated to it.

His mana was currently at 20 based on the points he had allocated to it. He had heard that mana was the most important stat for awakened users, and he had been focusing on it ever since he discovered his abilities.

He sighed, knowing that based on the official's description, he would be evaluated as the lowest rank. Hee-Joon knew he had a long way to go to become a strong awakened user.

As Hee-Joon entered the testing room, his eyes were drawn to a big asymmetrical mana stone that was placed on the table in the center.

An attendant greeted him with a friendly smile. The attendant swiftly moved around, attaching mana recording wires to Hee-Joon's body, explaining the purpose as they worked.

"These wires will help us approximate your mana readings," the attendant said.

"However, I must inform you that the accuracy may not be perfect"

"But with ongoing research and development, we hope to improve the precision in the future." The attendant continued as she moved wires over Hee-Joon's body.

Hee-Joon nodded, appreciating the attendant's transparency. "That's understandable. It's impressive to see we can calculate one's mana"

The attendant's eyes gleamed with pride as she continued,

"Indeed, it is. In fact, the very mana recording stone we use for testing was discovered in one of the renowned A-rank dungeons." the attendant continued.

Our association's esteemed guild leader triumphed over the dungeon's formidable boss, leading to this groundbreaking discovery. It's thanks to this extraordinary find that we were able to establish this testing facility for awakened users like yourself.

Then, Hee-Joon was led to a small chamber where he was equipped with wires for recording the readings.

"Please place your hand on the device," the Attendant asked Hee-Joon.

"Once you have placed the hand, feel your mana and start channeling it at the spot"

The recording began, and Hee-Joon could feel the flow of mana through his body. The reading on the screen fluctuated from 15-20, which was not surprising to him, as his mana level was low.

"This Machine will approximately measure your mana level, but there may be some variations" the attendant spoke to Hee-Joon.

The attendant explained that the device was designed to measure the mana levels accurately, but it was still in the experimental stage, and there could be some errors in the readings.

"I Understand" Hee-Joon replied, as he knew he had mana of only 20 which he could see on his status window and the device was accurately showing the readings.

As the tests concluded, it was revealed that Hee-Joon's rank was determined as F due to relatively low mana levels. The attendant who had guided him throughout the process noticed his disappointment and stepped forward to offer words of encouragement.

"Please don't lose hope," the attendant said with a reassuring smile.

"Being an F-rank user doesn't limit your potential. There are numerous opportunities available even for F-rank individuals within the awakened community." the attendant said.

"You can consider becoming a porter," the attendant suggested, "assisting higher-ranked users during dungeon explorations. It may not be the most glamorous role, but it provides valuable experience and a chance to learn from seasoned adventurers."

She continued, "Alternatively, there are various jobs available within the dungeons themselves. Maintenance, inventory management, and support roles are all vital to ensure the smooth operation of the awakened community."

As Hee-Joon left the facility, he felt a sense of disappointment wash over him, No guilds had approached him, and his heart sank at the thought of being overlooked.

As Ji-woo watched Hee-Joon approaching after his test, she had already checked the result on the screen.

While she felt a bit sad that he had been ranked as an F-rank, she was also relieved that he had finally awakened. She knew that he now had the option to choose his own path in life, whether he wanted to continue as an awakened individual or live a normal life.

As she approached him, she could see the disappointment on his face, but she didn't want to console him too much, knowing that it might do more harm than good.

"So what are you going to do next?" Ji-Woo asked.

"I have not given up, I am still planning to become a seasoned hunter" replied Hee-Joon.

"First I am going to attend the training school" Continued Hee-Joon as he walked with his mom.

Ji-woo was amazed at his determination and commitment, and she offered to help him in any way she could.

After finishing the test, Ji-woo and Hee-Joon set off for the awakened school. Ji-woo had obtained a letter of recommendation from the testing facility to prove that Hee-Joon had awakened.

As they arrived at the school, they saw the grand entrance to "Seoul Hunter's Academy," a well-known institution for awakened individuals located in the heart of Seoul.

The building was massive, with tall spires and intricate carvings adorning the façade. As they walked in, Hee-Joon could see that the academy was bustling with activity.

Students of all ages were milling about, from young children to seasoned hunters, all there to hone their skills and become better-awakened users. The school was filled with cutting-edge technology and training facilities, designed to simulate the conditions of the dangerous dungeons that hunters would face.

The Seoul Hunter's Academy was the first place all aspiring hunters had to train before being granted permits to enter dungeons. It was hoped that this training would reduce casualties and prepare hunters for the dangers they would face.

Hee-Joon felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as he stepped through the doors of the academy, As Hee-Joon and Ji-woo walked into the school, they noticed the bustling activity all around.

Guilds had set up their help desks to scout potential candidates, while others were hiring individuals for their porter team, mining team, and members for their guilds, all with lucrative offers.

The school had even assigned a special place for the guilds so that they could easily attract and recruit talented individuals. Hee-joon observed that not only large guilds but also small ones, were present, each with its own unique requirements and opportunities.
