Chereads / The Fire Dragon Bloodline / Chapter 4 - Unbelievable Strength

Chapter 4 - Unbelievable Strength

When he finally opened his eyes, what Henry saw was a clear blue sky. The little clouds moved in unison like sheep herded by dogs.

His skin cooled at the touch of a slight breeze. As the tree waved and danced, their shadows skimmed over his eyes, and the sun rays made him squint.

As he got up reflexively and blinked a few times, he found himself in the middle of a forest, sleeping atop a patch of grass. There was a lake nearby that he could see in the distance behind the trees.

"Wait, I remember failing in the dungeon, what am I doing in the forest?" Henry voiced out surprised, luckily, no one was around to hear him.

[Completion of system update into host -100]

[System update completed!]

Suddenly after Henry opened opened his eyes,

this was the first thing that popped up in his line of sight and he also heard the same young female voice.

"So I wasn't illustrating that time?" Henry asked rhetorically as he recollected the events that happened.

[Congratulations, host, you have now received this power completely!]

Henry just stared at the red screen Infront of him with a dumbfounded look.

"What the hell does this character keep talking about?"

"To check out what this power entails, call out; Status Window!]

Henry started at the red screen as the characters. He looked around the forest to make sure no one or thing was in his vicinity.

The Status Window is usually in the Video Game. Even though Erend's experience playing Video Games was meager because he didn't have the time for such things. He understood little about it.

"System interface," He muttered with a low voice. How shocked he was when he saw what appeared in front of him.

Henry stared at the red screen with a brink look with his jaws threatening to touch the ground. To say he was dumbstruck would be an understatement.

Heck, he thought everything was a big dream and he would just wake soon after but that was not the case. As he looked at his ability, he was beyond thrilled to see that he has awakened.

Shortly after, he calmed down his excitement and started to think logically. There was many things that did not make sense such as his race for example.

Just as he was about to voice out his question, the system answered him.

[The system did not grant you this abilities, It helped you to awaken this abilities. The system is just a tool that makes your body adapt to those power. But those powers have been there since the beginning." ]

Upon hearing the system's words, Henry became more confused than he was before. His parents weren't anything special in the least, well only his mother. His mother was a normal human while his a**hole father was a awakener, a hunter before he mysteriously disappeared without leaving a trace behind.

So he voiced out his questions but the system didn't respond to any of them. Then he eventually stopped he knew questioning over and over was pointless.

The system didn't want to explain anything and even if it did, Henry wouldn't use that knowledge for anything. Now what was important was that he had that power and could use it.

Henry shrugged and made his way by looking around for any wild monsters. Although the city was safe, the same couldn't be said about the areas nearby.

As the lake reflected his face, Henry was a bit shocked by what he saw. His eyes have now turned crimson red. He was a bit scared but he calmed down as he remembered that some people appearance changed when they awakened their ability.

He took shower to clean himself and looked again at the lake. He would have been considered handsome if not for his unkempt condition.

His crimson eyes and his overall appearance made him look like a character in a fantasy novel. He decided to accept this and start investigating his surroundings.

As he looked around, Henry could see a wide mountain range bordering the lake from the other side. There were many canyons in between the mountains that acted as passageways of the mountain range. On his side of the lake was a forest that covered his vision. As he was looking around, he saw a patch of grassland that bordered the forest. He decided to head there and see if he can spot something to know where he is.

After he got there, Henry's view cleared of the forest, and he could see the grassland in front of him. It was mostly empty but the only bad news was that man-eating wolves, known as the grey wolves, idled around.

"Growl..."

Henry heard a growl from his side and turned to see a huge wolf with grey fur. He was momentarily stunned, but the grey wolf charged at him.

Henry threw a hard punch forward. He didn't know why but his fist suddenly moved on its own.

WHOOSH!!

Accompanied by a bone-chilling sound of wind parting ways, his fist flew straight forward.

POW!!

It took just one hit and the head of the grey wolf simply exploded. The corpse of the now-headless grey wolf fell lifelesly on the ground.

Henry's eyes opened up very wide and he stared dumbfoundedly at his own fist.

What an unexpected destructive power that was.

[ You've killed a grey wolf ]

However, the joy of victory was temporary!

Two more grey wolves jumped out from their hiding place and appeared before Henry.

'D*mn it, it was in a pack?'

Henry's eyes grew wider.

They bared their big fangs and closed the distance in an instant. Then, a dawn of realization suddenly hit Henry.

"Oh right, I forgot I could use skills. Time to test it out."

"Dragon Claw!"

Henry willed and his hands turned into reddish scaly claws. Then he dashed forward and slashed his claws at the grey wolves.

"CRAAT!!"

Henry's claws separated the grey wolves head from their body and they spat out a final roar before they stopped breathing afterwards.

Henry cleaned the blood off his hands as the reddish scaly claws disappeared.
