As the golem drew near, the hunters assumed battle formation, and John took the lead to block the incoming attack. Needless to say, he looked like a midget compared to the Golem, and he stumbled back more than one step with the first strike.
With a loud battle cry, he activated his ability for the first time today. With blinding light, two phantom clones of himself appeared and with three of them now, they created a defense even the boss found it hard to break through.
The others didn't stand idle as they started using their abilities to defeat the Golem. With Alan blocking the attack on their behalf, they began damaging the Golem with their attacks.
With the roar of a beast, Alan grew more muscular and his skin turned red. It was a berserk ability that allowed him to amplify his physical strength for a short duration. With his amplified strength, he rushed forward and slashed at the golem's chest, leaving a deep wound although it regenerated almost instantly.
At the same time, Henry saw someone appear on the golem's head. It was Beatrice, she jumped on the golem's head and stabbed her sword into the golem's eye, causing a long gush to appear on its face. The golem howled in agony as its face started regenerating.
Without wasting time, James manifested a huge mana orb on his finger tips and shot it forward. The mana bullet pierced the Golem in its injured head. The Golem now went berserk and howled as earth spikes appeared around it, attacking its aggressors.
As the spikes were too many to evade, the group braced themselves to take damage. However, the damage and pain never came as Mana barrier enveloped them, protecting them.
"Quickly, Attack!!" Ester, the one who casted the protective barrier, shouted with a thunderous voice. Immediately, the rest dashed toward the Golem, preparing for another round of fighting to wear it down. However, before they reached the Golem, another earthquake happened as cracks began to fill the passageway.
With a huge bang that almost made their ears bleed, the walls broke down, revealing a revealing a strange creature they had never seen before.
It had 3 heads, each of a different animal, a lion, a snake, and a goat, and a huge body. Its body was panther-like, specialized for speed, its feet were talons like a bird, and its tail was that of a scorpion. It also had a pair of massive wings.
Even the Regenerative Golem was terrified by the arrival of such a beast, and everyone's faces turned pale.
Henry fell in his rear in horror as he saw what seemed to be the most frightening creature he ever witnessed. The beast made him look like an ant in front of it, making him feel like only a single breath would obliterate him.
"Retreat! This is the dungeon boss!" John howled with a face so terrified as if all the blood had been drained from his face. Their fear was justified as each Chaos Dungeon's boss was at a realm different from others, with only six in the whole world.
Thankfully, five more appeared after the creature. Each one of them was adorned with white armor or white robes. Henry was a non-awakener, but even he can feel the aura coming of these people. It contended with that of the three headed creature, who howled with rage as it witnessed their arrival.
Everyone, retreat, and leave this area at once." A girl with long white hair stepped forward and said to Alan's group. From her hair and her clothes to even her eyelashes, everything about her was white. Everyone present knew her. She was The Sword Saint.
Henry was too dumbfounded at the turn of the event that he stood there blankly. James was the one who stepped forward and shouted for them to run away.
However, the Chimera didn't give them time to retreat as it lunged itself forward, brushing the Regenerative Golem in the process and obliterating it. With its speed and sheer pressure alone, the wall broke down, and cracks formed underneath Henry as he was flung away and hit the wall.
He coughed blood and felt like his insides were being crushed. As he opened his eyes, he got to see an armored man appear in front of the Chimera and block its attack effortlessly.
The others were all flung away, but they ended up in a much sorry state than Henry, who was very far away. Most of his group fainted, with only James being an exception, although he was also severely injured.
He lost consciousness and collapsed shortly after, and the only person other than The White Fangs still conscious was Henry, only because he was too weak to be close to the initial fight with the Golem.
"I should run away."
That was the single thought Arthur had. It was the most logical choice and he knew it was the right choice. He wasn't an awakener, he had people at home waiting for him and he didn't know this people, they were strangers he met for the first choice. However, a question suddenly appeared in his mind.
"How would I feel if I wake up tomorrow, after leaving someone who saved me to die? I would have died if it wasn't for him."
It didn't feel right. Henry knew he was being stupid. Yes, it was a very stupid choice and he knew he would mostly likely die. However, life is also about making wrong choices. James saved him. He might not have risked his life to save Henry, but the latter would have died if not for the potion. Therefore,
His legs found strength and he madly dashed towards James. He jumped across the debris lying about and avoided the ones he couldn't jump.
As he saw the members of the White Tiger engage in battle with the Chimera, He sprinted faster to get there.
As he neared the battle, he hid behind a giant rock and looked for a chance to retrieve James and the rest. If a hit accidentally went their way, they would most likely die.
The battle reached a stalemate as each side blocked their enemy's attacks. Henry took this chance and dashed toward James, reaching him in a few dashes, grabbing him, and starting to run again.
As they neared a boulder a bit far away from the battle, Henry was about to put James down before he heard a shout from behind.
"Look out!!"
Henry turned around and it appears that the Sword Saint used her katana and slashed of the Chimera's head eye. The Chimera howled in pain and shot multiple mana beams in all directions. Unlikely, one of the beams headed towards Henry's direction.
Before he could react, the beam already slammed the ground a distance away from him. It slammed into the place of the unconscious group Henry left behind. The ground broke down as Henry and James fell into the hole like a broken kite.
In a state of semi-consciousness, he started to feel like he was falling, and he opened his eyes. From the slits of blurry vision, he saw the Sword Saint grabbing James arm as he fell into the darkness.
However, before he lost consciousness again, he saw a red screen floating right in front of his vision and a articulate voice of a young female.
[Congratulations! You have been chosen to wield great power!]
[Host will die in 10 seconds! Teleporting Host to a safe location for constitution examination and evolution!]
[Host shall now go into a deep sleep!]
Henry immediately felt his vision darken as the notification appeared in his line of sight.
A flash of bright light suddenly appeared and surrounded him, and in the next second...
Zing!
Henry disappeared without a trace before the Eternal darkness could consume his existence.
