Chapter 34

Rumi sneaked into Lucas's room, clutching a letter she had designed. Carefully, she placed it on the table before attempting to make her exit. But just as she was about to leave, Sofia caught her off guard.

"What are you doing in my daddy's room?" Sofia questioned, folding her arms.

Rumi, feeling a bit nervous, replied, "I came to drop off a letter for your dad."

Sofia rolled her eyes Dismissively. "Just because we are the same age and life ve in the same house doesn't mean we are friends, you know. My mom even said the other day that you shouldn't be going into any rooms because you're just a maid!"

Rumi couldn't hold back her tears any longer. "Your mummy taught you wrong," she sobbed.

Before the situation escalated further, Lucas and Diana arrived at the door. Lucas, filled with anger, forcefully pushed Sofia's hand away from Rumi. Diana, equally upset, delivered a sharp slap to Sofia's cheek.

"Is this what they have been teaching you all these years? You're just a child, Sofia, and you should never bully another child,"

Diana scolded.

Sofia burst into tears. Lucas knelt down in front of Rumi, gently wiping away her tears. He then smiled and said, "as long as you're in this house, you have every right to go anywhere you want."

Rumi couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards Lucas. She hugged him tightly and whispered, "I came here to give you this letter."

Curiousity piqued, Lucas opened the letter and read it with a smiled. "Wow, it's a thank you letter." He exclaimed.

Rumi beamed. "I wanted to thank you for...for saving my life at the bank."

Lucas, moved by her words, smiled through tears and embraced her tightly.

Diana turned to Sofia, her tone softened

"Look, dear, never bully a child, okay? What your mom taught you or said to you was wrong."

Sofia, still upset, angrily pushed Diana's hand away and ran to her room, crying. Lucas released Rumi from his embrace and said, "now, go back your room, okay? Rumi nodded and left.

Diana stood before Lucas, tears streaming down her face. She couldn't help but feel the weight of her actions. "I just shouted at my daughter," she confessed, her voice trembling. The child I have longed for, the one I wanted to call me 'mom,' now hates me."

Lucas, filled with compassion, approached Diana and enveloped her in a comforting embrace. "No, Diana," he reassured her, his voice gentle yet firm. "It wasn't your fault. Maria is to blame. I left Sofia in her care when you weren't here."

Diana clung to Lucas, her tears soaking his shoulder. "Now Maria has turned Sofia against me," she lamented, her voice filled with despair. "I don't know what to do anymore."

Lucas released Diana from their embrace, gently tilting her chin to meet his gaze. With a reassuring smile, he spoke, "Don't worry, Diana. With time, Sofia will to you. Trust me everything will be alright."

Overwhelmed with emotions, Diana embraced Lucas once more, finding solace in his comforting presence. Tears continued to flow, but admist the pain, there was a glimmer of hope for a better tomorrow.
