Chapter 40

Diana stood there, her heart pounding in her chest, as Ethan dropped the plate of food on the floor. The words he spoke sent a chill sown her spine, but she refused to show any fear. As soon as he left, she decided to escape.

Using her leg, she stretched and reached for the fork that may just put if her grasp. With determination in her eyes, she knelt down, her back against the wall, and carefully maneuvered the fork to cut through the rope that bound her hands. Finally, she was free.

A smile spread across Diana's face as the realization sank in. She had escape Ethan's clutches. But there was no time to waste. She had to move quickly.

Just as she was about to make her getaway, the sound of footsteps echoed through the room. It was Ethan, accompanied by his henchmen. Panic surged through Diana's veins, but she refused to let it consume her.

As Diana disappeared into the shadows, Ethan realized she was gone. His voice echoed through the room, commanding his men to find her. The urgency in his words was palpable. Diana knew she had to stay one step ahead of she wanted to survive.

(A stranger saved Lucas life, they took his to the hut outside the forest)

Lucas slowly opened his eyes, feeling a dull ache in his head. There was a young woman named Lisa who was there, taking care of him. She wrapped a bandage around his back, making sure it was secure. As he regained consciousness, Lucas heard Lisa mention that he had been calling out someone's name in his sleep.

Lisa seemed curious to know who Diana was, and Lucas felt a mix of confusion and vulnerability as he tried to remember the fragmented memories from his dreams.

Lucas took a deep breath and replied, "Diana....she is someone from my past. (He lied) it's a complicated story." Lisa nodded, understanding his response. She placed a soft pillow behind Lucas's back, helping him sit up more comfortably.

Curiosity sparked in Lucas eyes as he looked at Lisa. "And who are you?" He asked. Lisa smiled warmly and introduced herself as Lisa, as the woman who has saved him. She had found him in the forest and knew he needed help, so she called for assistance.

Lucas expressed his gratitude to Lisa, feeling thankful for her kindness. Just then, Lisa's mother, Tanya, entered the room, carrying a small bowl filled with brown medicine. Lucas's gaze shifted to the bowl, and he couldn't help, but wonder what it was. "What's that?" He asked, pointing towards the bowl.

Tanya smiled kindly and explained that it was a traditional herbal remedy. She assured Lucas that it would help with his healing process and relieve any pain he might be experiencing.
