Chapter 45

Upon reaching the grand Mansion, Lucas sensed that something was amiss. The atmosphere was eerily quiet. In a split second, his keen eyes caught sight of a bullet hurtling towards them. Acting swiftly, he grabbed Lisa and pulled her out of harm's way. Unfortunately, the bullet found its mark, striking Diana's hand and causing her to stumble.

As the shock settled in, Maria emerged from the shadows, a cruel laughter escaping her slips. She taunted Diana, urging her to look around and see that Lucas might be hiding his own secret. Tears welled up in Diana's eyes as she gazed at Lucas, her heart heavy with uncertainty. Lisa too wore a worried expression.

(Diana gazed at Lucas, her left hand bleeding from where the bullet had struck.

Through tears-filled eyes, she mustered the strength to say, "there's something I've to tell you." Lucas rushed to her side, tearing his shirt to make an improvised bandage for her wounded hand. Despite the pain, Diana stood up, locking eyes with Lucas. With trembling words, she revealed, "Rumi...Rumi is our daughter"

Lucas was stunned by this revelation, momentarily releasing his grip on her hand.

Meanwhile, Maria, fueled by anger, had her men, including Ethan, hold Diana's two daughters, Rumi and Sofia, hostage. The sight of the little one's crying only fueled Maria's twisted satisfaction.

Lily and Victor were also held at gunpoint.

In that intense moment, Diana made a split-second decision. She darted towards her children, but Lucas held her back, their bodies rolling on the floor to avoid Maria's gunfire.

As they untangled themselves, Lucas helped Diana to her feet. Determination burned in his eyes. Facing Maria, Lucas voice dripped with anger as he demanded, "drop your gun, or face the consequences."

Maria let out a chilling laugh, revealing her twisted obsession. "I thought I could have you, spend my life with you. But if I can't, then I'll kill you and everyone else."

Diana stepped forward, her voice filled with conviction. "That's not love, Maria. It's obsession. You don't truly love Lucas, and deep down you know it." A wicked smile played on Maria's lips. "You're right. I may like Ethan, but since I can't have Lucas, I'll make sure he pays with his life."

Ethan, aware of Maria's confession, couldn't help but smile. The tension in the room reached it's peak as the battle for love, survival unfold before them.
