Later that afternoon, Evelyn and Sampson decided to visit Jenna's room.
By that time, Jenna had already freshened up after taking a nap. But she didn't want to see their faces so she chose to remain locked up in her room.
She had lunch brought up to her. The only person she intended to see later that evening was her grandfather. She needed to thank him again.
She decided she was leaving the next day.
But at the moment, Jenna's thoughts weren't even directed at the recent events. She was thinking about something else, something and someone she thought was in the past already.
*
A few days after her boyfriend and best friend betrayed her, she settled for a lousy and ratchet lifestyle, with hopes of finding the perfect escapism.
In one of her numerous sexual encounters back then, she crossed path with a guy from a club she frequented.
She approached him first that night while he was at the bar counter.
He tried to pull some gentleman nonsense, but Jenna made her intentions clear. She just wanted to not feel alone and empty that night.
It was one of the wildest nights she had ever experienced. After all the craziness was over, Jenna unconsciously spilled secrets to the stranger on the bed till she dozed off.
The next morning, she woke up and left the hotel room they lodged in, before dawn. She didn't feel regretful or bad about anything. She remembered nothing, so there was nothing to regret.
Unfortunately for her, her partner for the night could not stop thinking about her. In his words, he was out to find that special lady who not only treated him like never before, but was also the most interesting person he had met in a very long time.
He was unable to find her until barely 2 weeks before Wallace's arrest when she was sent on an unnecessary errand.
He had been unrelenting in his efforts to meet her ever since.
Planora was one hell of a city. With a lot of people and memories. The good, the bad and the ugly.
As of late, Jenna crossed paths with men she once had a moment with in the past. It was starting to mess with her head. She sought for a break from all of the mental stress, which was why she just wanted to shutdown and do nothing, while breathing in the fresh air from another city where she almost never had a history.
Although she was returning to Planora, to Jenna it was a last shot thing. If anything out of place was to happen again, that'll automatically mean exiting the city gates for good, probably.
But....
' What about Morticia?' she thought inwardly before groaning out of frustration. She had totally forgotten about Morticia who literally had no where else to go.
Unlike Jenna who was one call away from a lot of things, Morticia had no one to turn to.
From what Jenna learnt about her mother, she wasn't really an option.
Jenna's phone pinged, diverting her thoughts and attention temporarily.
Reading the content of the notification that popped up on her laptop, Jenna scoffed.
It was that scumbag again, trying to reach her through a different social media account. 'Was he that dumb to think she was that dumb?' Jenna wondered with an eye roll.
Soon, she blocked him without thinking twice.
He should probably try again, maybe after she applied for a job, where she would be unable to block any random DM or inbox. But until then, she was not falling prey.
Clicking on yes, to block, she heard a soft knock on her door.
" Come in." Jenna said, assuming it was a maid.
The person hesitated for a while.
" I said you can come in" Jenna said again with her eyes on the phone.
The door creaked and opened, only for Bruce to walk in.
Raising her head, Jenna was surprised to see Bruce by the door with a smile on his face.
" Bruce!" Jenna called out with a small smile and a look of surprise.
" Greetings, miss Jenna." Bruce said with a dramatic waist bow.
" Oh Bruce" Jenna said, giggling, as she got off the bed. Her room was quite spacious, and so it had a lady like chair asides the one at the vanity.
Jenna beckoned on Bruce to sit, while she went to get the chair at the vanity.
They sat across a table where the flower vase which Jenna had removed, was kept.
Clearing his throat, Bruce decided to speak up first, like he should.
" Ms. Jenna, I came to have a word with you about what happened earlier today." He said, cutting to the chase.
" Ok?" Jenna said.
" How_"
" What are you doing here Bruce?" Evelyn asked, surprised to see him in the room as she turned to look at Sampson who had just arrived.
Rolling her eyes, Jenna looked elsewhere while Bruce stood up.
" I wanted to have a word with Ms Jenna." answered Bruce with a small smile.
Sampson and Evelyn respected Bruce, but Evelyn wasn't sure she liked the idea of having just the both of them in a room, not when her father-in-law was around. What would he think?
But she decided not to further interrogate him, after all she didn't meet them in an awkward position and Bruce didn't actually shut the door, so that counted for something. That, was what Evelyn said to herself to stifle the urge of asking further questions.
" Ok then. We'd like to have a word with our daughter." Evelyn said with a straight face.
" By all means. Excuse me please." Bruce said, before he walked past the both of them. Sampson didn't think it was anything to worry about, so he just stood without saying a word, at least until Bruce left.
Wearing the demeanor of a child who was about to apologise to his/her parent for stealing candy, Evelyn and Sampson, took two slow steps towards Jenna who was seemingly 'touring' her room with her eyes.
" Can we talk?" Evelyn asked.
" You're asking me? Didn't you already ask Bruce to leave for the same reason? Isn't that what you do? Take decisions that involves someone else, without asking questions. But I guess since that someone else is me, it shouldn't matter." Jenna said to her parents who looked pitiable at that moment.
" So yeah, you can talk to me." She added.
Evelyn and Sampson knew they were in for it, not like they expected any less.
Duh.
